You generally don't wanna take a photo 100% straight on unless you know what you're doing and can exploit the symmetry and lighting to make the photo look good. Otherwise it'll just have a deer in headlights/autism look. It's also harder to highlight the jawline when straight-on if it's weak. Head ever so slightly turned to one side (very subtly) will allow one side of the jaw to pop and give more depth to your face.
Also make sure you choose lighting and scene situations that accentuate your jawline and cheekbones, or at the very least let them be seen - you don't want a black beard blending into the shadows and making your jaw non-existent.
