Before /fit/ I didn't realise carbs were what caused me to gain fat the most.

I also didn't know what a calorie or kcal actually was, or that kilojoules (which is what is printed on our products' nutritional info instead of calories here in New Zealand) were even related to them. I didn't even realise there was a relation to the weight you put on and the energy you intake. I just thought it was the amount of fat in a product that directly influences how much fat you gain.

I can pull of 'Barrel chested' in loose clothing. Underneath it is alot of stretch marks and gyno I'm going to get it cut out in a year or two and post the story on here once I have the cash.

Biggest things to learn was a routine and accepting that you gotta take it slow and steady.

It sounds retarded but I'd go to the gym 3 times a week and "blast" (by which I mean do 1/4 squats and think barbell curls were useful) before going home, eating shit and playing MMO's until 5am.

It meant I was tired all the time and didn't put in any effort in the gym (I used to think 60kg bench meant I was strong like fuck it is). Once I got a job though and proper routine like work, gym, cook, sleep I've made a decent amount of progression and can fit in jeans in the mid 30's rather than 44's.

Have a routine and even better if you enjoy it. When I was a fatty and the most important thing I could do is cut, I primarily played tons of tennis. Didn't even think of it as working out, but I lost almost 100lbs in under a year. Have kept it off over a year and while im not in good shape anymore since canceling my gym membership at least im not a fatass close to developing serious health complications

Started in february... Once I get visible abs I'll start lean bulking. Hopefully by the end of the year. Have hit a pretty bad plateau, can't seem to get rid of that lower belly fat, don't really know what to do.

This is the most recent picture I have. It's over a month old, but I look pretty much the same.

I had a couple of binges which set me back a bit, but I was able to recover. I'm around 160 lbs now and I've started eating a bit more (up to 800-1000 calories). Still having trouble shitting though. I go maybe twice a week if I'm lucky. Do I need more fiber, water, or both?

I go 800 under my TDEE (meaning I eat about 1750/day). I've dropped from 86kg to 79 in about 2 months. I gym 5-6 times a week, walk an hour a day and have a physical job though.

It's all physics bro, in vs out. Check all your numbers again.

This seems to be the mentality of fat acceptance people. Maybe they even eat healthy (as in no Oreos :p), but still eat things like nuts by the bowl-full.

RECORD EVERYTHING YOU EAT. WEIGH THAT SHIT TO MAKE SURE YOU'RE CALCULATING CALORIES IN CORRECTLY

After a week weigh yourself. Adjust calories if necessary for weight-loss or just well-being (you don't want it to be too hard). Check again next week.

Aim for 1lb-2lb weight loss per week.

Was a fatty my entire life, BMI 40+ for the majority of it I'm sure, though I'll never know for sure. I'm sitting at a BMI of about 33 right now, and it's the thinnest I've been since before I could multiply. It's pretty fucking depressing.

Learning to eat right, exercise and shit, actually wasn't too hard for me. It took a year or so, yeah, but I got into the swing of things eventually. The fact that information on how to get in shape is readily available through google and in the sticky made that pretty easy.

The hardest challenges for me, recently at least, have been social gainz. Workers in stores/shops actively engage me, instead of waiting for me to bother them. Coworkers actually seem to listen to what I have to say, some even care enough to ask what's wrong if I come into work with a frown or sad demenor, which is rarer and rare. People try to joke with me. Girls in general are a lot friendlier. It's just so different from the baseline of the first 19 years of my life, where I was ignored at best.

And the thing is, I'm still a fat fuck. If I can barely hold my shit together now, as a loser who only leaves his Detached Garage of Solitude (which I fixed up into a shanty so I could hide away from my own family), to work or get food or weed, how the fuck am I supposed to handle actually being human sized?

TL;DR social gainz are so much harder than physical gainz.

This is my progress from July of 2015 to now. So far I've seen about 60 lbs melt off.

I simply stopped over portioning, cut all and any soda (I drink water or unsweetened green tea from my job) and I did cardio plus weighted work outs.

It's getting harder now to keep losing so much, even with workout change ups and even stricter diet control. I'm still having tons of issues with my arms and chest, but I'm proud of the immense difference in my stomach. I'm halfway to my goal, and I'd love to be fit and healthy by June. Any tips on breaking plateaus?

I started at 315, got a gym membership and started going every day, was eating healthy and doing it all right for about a month. I got down to 282 and have since lost all motivation. I'm back up to 290 and am steadily climbing. I KNOW I need to get back in the gym and losing weight but I just can't get motivated. I go to school from 9-3 then work from 4-7 and when I get home I'm just tired(have a laborious job and also work in a shop for 3 hours while at school) and don't feel like going. I'm 18 and still live with my mom so I just eat what she cooks and have school's lunch. I normally skip breakfast and will have a meal after school before work. Advice?

I have no self control, but if I don't buy any extra from the store, I'm not going to have anything extra to eat at home. I go to the store once a week the same day, buy the bare necessities and then that's what I'll have. I don't store food, I don't have cans around, I only have food for exactly a week.

Also it's far easier to have nothing than to have a little.

Personally, my motivation is the fact that, once I get to about 200 lbs, I get to escape the ghetto, and my shitty family I don't fit in with, my life of nofriends and literally doing nothing but video games, working, sleeping, and occasionally gyming, for the Greener Pasture that is the military. My life will still probably be as shitty as it is now, but hey, at least I'll get to see the world, plus I'll be getting paid.

Not all of us are lucky enough to be dirt poor white trash living in the ghetto though, so sorry if my input doesn't help much.

Was up around 250 at my worst. Lifted a lot growing up/in high school so that probably helped me from getting out of control/so far gone itd take a year+ to look good again.

Critiques would be appreciated. Looks like my chest is lacking, but the strength is there in the gym. Maybe switch to a more hypertrophy oriented routine for a while?

I just started my journey back to fitness this week.

In the space of five years I went from a 28 inch waist, and roughly 150 lbs to almost 300 pounds and a 42 inch waist.

How worried am I going to have to be about skin flab in the event that I dont get disheartened by the inevitable plateau that i know damn well im going to hit?

also; does any transformation bros have advice about not fucking quitting? I have tried this shit before but I can never seem to get past the first few weeks before i revert to being a fat fuck again

Don't really come to /fit/ very often but I saw this thread. took it upon myself these past 3 months to lose weight now that I'm in uni. I've gone down from 230 to 191.8 as of a week ago. I weigh in every two weeks and things have been going smoothly but its been getting harder to cut this past month or so what can I do to help this? As in the natural progression of weight loss getting harder as I lose more and more weight.

Don't push yourself too hard. It's going to be long. Go adding small improvements. Do one month of a not too restrictive diet. Then next month start doing some light cardio, 3x week. Then increase the amount of cardio each two weeks or so. Then start lifting. etc

Keep a diary, browse /fit/ and motivation threads, read the sticky, learn to cook, do not use food as a prize, when you achieve one of your goals, buy yourself something nice, or go see a hooker, or get drunk, or tell somebody that will say he's proud... etc

Just wanna let you know if you're super eager to get in, you can probably pass the BF% before you hit the max weight. I'm 6ft and my max weight was 205, I went to MEPS at just around 230 and passed the BF% test, albeit at the max allowable level.

If you're dying to get out, you may be able to go a month or two earlier. Get in contact with a recruiter ASAP and I'm sure they'll be more than willing to push you through as soon as you meet the BF% threshold.

Sup senpai, thanks for the advice desu imo, I've been lifting for a couple months (tho Ive been on break for about two weeks cause I got burnt out, plus I'm working a bunch more hours for black friday), and yeah I'm really hoping that I'll be able to get in over-weight, but I'm still saying 50lbs so that, if I DO get in over-weight, it'll be a nice surprise.

Am I going to regret taking no progress pics? These guys are looking good. I have no idea why some guys with 100lb less weight than me get loose skin though. I've been lifting since day 1 and haven't noticed any sagging yet besides my arms. Most of my weight is my legs and ass though. I've also been rubbing stretch mark cream pregnant women use on my arms, belly, and thighs every time after I shower.

Having a REALLY hard time cutting milk and energy drinks. Ive been a huge milk drinker since I was a small child and so far its the hardest thing to cut back on.

I've lost close to 100 lbs, and I don't have any access skin. I do, however have stretch marks. It took me years to be ready to lose weight. I wish it didn't take me this long to finally get a hold of my life.

The biggest thing I learned was taking baby steps to achieve my goal. I continued to yo-yo diet for many years. The best thing was to focus on the small steps: started off by focusing on not eating any fast food, grilled food and veggies, drinking more water, and eating smaller portion sizes. When I mastered that, that's when I started to count calories and exercising. I didn't realize how many calories I was eating and portion control.

today was my wife's birthday
here is a list of everything I ate in order

dinner time comes and I need to help make dinner for my wife family because I forgot to mention today is her birthday.

For what? Cutting or a recomp? I usually stick to 5-6 meals a day with 8-10 oz of lean prots, a cup of rice and a cup of veggies. If you need better pumps, up the carbs.. if you're trying to lean out, drop calories or up your lifting.

food scale, proper measuring cups, and cross referencing mfp entries to get a proper legit average of a food item rather than cherry picking the one with least calories. also add calories from all ingredients when you make something (like oils, seasonings, condiments, etc)
