As for your main point, I partially agree. A /fit/ ugly woman may not be treated much differently than she would be if she wasn't fit.
However, I do think that the increased confidence and physical strength are great boosts for her own confidence. In addition, physical activity has been proven to fight depression and provide more energy. Also, worth mentioning is that, in the process of becoming /fit/, she could meet people similar to her and socialize with them.
So while she may not be prettier to most people, I think there are clear perks to working to improve her physique as best she can.

My wife is a social worker in a nursing home and like 5 of my close friends are nurses, it's unbelievable how bad it is. Lots of the people in hospitals/homes are there just because they're so neglectful of their own bodies.
