I started working out and running alone because people at the gym ridiculed me. This actually helped me because there was never any distractions or people watching when I got sweaty and pathetic. It's all about your own limits, and how you push them.

Analyse your eating habits and explore the more healthy options. Fill up on vegetables and fruit and get good protein in your system, not powder but real food.

Post your current plan. Do you plan to start exercise the next few days, and if so, what exercises? I recommend running for the start. get that sweat going.

I live in an extremely small ass town in illinois, and the gym is half an hour away, anyway. I plan on walking at least a couple miles every day. I also decided to quit smoking weed and doing other drugs. I started tracking what I eat, and plan on keeping under around 30-40 carbs -per day. I have a bowflex on my porch, and I plan on finding an excercise plan for it as well. I am also going to start doing 30 sit ups when i wake up, and 30 when i go to bed. Of course, the length of these excercises will steadily increase with time. I hated running at first too. But it grows on you. Try couch to the 5k. Worked for me. I'm running 30 minutes 3 days a week without stopping. I'm working my way up to 6 miles. I'm doing 3.6 miles in 30 right now. And my best mile is in 7 minutes 29 seconds.

I dropped 50 pounds from 260 at 6'5" in a semester last year (18 at the time). That was probably unhealthy, but I know you can make it whether you believe it or not.

What do you eat like? I realized that most meals at American restaurants should actually be 2-3 meals especially if you're not active. I also realized I could eat more by drinking only water or black coffee, and not eating junk food or fast food.

You didn't get fat eating gourmet food most likely. You probably got the weight from eating shitty, readily available food too often because you didn't think of it as a full meal. It really comes down to your choices. Would you rather have some twinkies or a whole sandwich? At least have fun with being fat if you're going to be fat.

I'd go into exercise with the mindset that you're going to go every day you can. You'll be too sore to work out some days or you'll be too busy on others. Assuming you're doing anything with your life you'll get rest days. Also, read that sticky, you'll get better results knowing what you're doing.

Maybe start by walking 5+ miles a day. Then move onto running on a treadmill in a gym (should get you more comfortable with being there and lifting). Start doing weight training as soon as possible so you don't get too weak and you'll look better as you shed the weight. I'd recommend having someone to workout with, but you need to be willing to keep going to the gym whether they go or not. I would go into the gym with a friend and then we would split off and do whatever we needed to do. You just need to get up and go.

TL;DR: Move more, eat less. Do it for you, don't make excuses.

6'4 286lbs male here. I'm currently on my second day of couch to 5k, getting up at 5:30am for it, feels good. I've also been eating healthy, I've been eating a lot of chicken, brown rice and veges. I fear that I'm not eating enough though. I'm using the myfitnesspal app and have only reached my calories for the day once or twice, always below it ;_;

I'm unemployed and poor as fuck, sometimes not eating anything for the day but one meal, also because I'm not working, I don't move around a lot during the day, I also sleep during the day and stay up till the am most of the time. What advice do you have for me, /fit/? My life is in shambles ;_;

On one hand I do what to work but I have no idea on what to do. My resume is shit and is tailored to a shit kicking laborer/forklift operator. All the jobs I've done in the past I've had to work my ring out daily with shit people I have to impress and I'm terrified of being responsible over something at work. I'm too fucking stupid to go to uni and study. Whenever I listen to people giving me instructions I just nod and say "yep" like I'm listening but it's just going through one ear and out the other. My shit is fucked.

Past 6/7 weeks I've cut food down to 1600-2000cal a day, every training session I do 30 minute cardio (walking, not running because not interested in exploding my knees), and I've lost 16lbs.

I also train after every cardio session for 1-2 hours.

I live in Norway. I went every day for a week and every time there was something new. First day the owners and their friend made up a 'piggie song'. They sang this every day. Day two they let a dog piss in my locker. Day three they locked the door when I arrived, and stood there laughing (got in later when another member showed up). Your gym sounds like the perfect gym. When You let people do their thing in the gym they get the most out of their time.

I now go to a different gym, and go at night when nobody's around. That works.
