After getting a full-time job I honestly can't blame people for getting fat anymore.

After 8 hours of work and 1.5 hours of commuting the absolute last thing I want to do is go to the gym. I mean, I still do it but by the time I get back home I have like four hours of free time left to myself. Fuck that. If I was a normie I wouldn't even bother.

If you have a full time job you should have enough disposable income to get another gym membership or a gym membership that you can work out at more than one location. I have a gym at a 5 min walk from work, so i go there for 45 minutes during lunch or straight after work for 45 min. (which means i don't get stuck in rush hours traffic either). So i get home at 17:30 instead of 17:00.
>>
I can't believe that people complain about not having time to do shit while working 40 hours a week.

I only work 60 and have plenty of time to hit the gym 4 days a week and do tons of stuff outside of work.
>>
>>34863775
>I only work 60 and have plenty of time to hit the gym 4 days a week and do tons of stuff outside of work.

Do tell, I'm genuinely interested in how you break your day down. Do you get 6-7 hours of sleep every night? Do you commute or work from home?
>>
>>34863775
this.
when my mother used to work shed work ~85hrs/week and still made time to go running/gym/shit a few times a week
>>

>I still do it but by the time I get back home I have like four hours of free time left to myself.
DonĀ“t complain. There are peopple that work full time and study at night and still find motivation to work out.
>>
This is why I go to the gym in the morning.

I once had a job near my gym, and I went during my lunch break.
>>
>>34863873
Yeah and there's people in Africa who work 90 hours a week in diamond mines for a cup of rice a day. there is always gonna be people less fortunate than you, that does not invalidate your right to complain since everything is subjective.

Some of us lift for more than 45 minutes, cant leave work long enough to complete our workput, and cant come back to work covered in sweat.

You knkw, actual professionals.

I still lift late at night but your post reeks of unfounded arrogance. Enjoy your 45 minute "workout."

>>
>>34863873

here

>>34863875

I work days and study nights.

I get up at 6am and get ready, 10 min drive to the gym. Get there by 7am. Leave around 8 after cleaning myself up and getting changed.

45 minute drive to work. Start work at 9. Finish around 4:30-5pm, drive half an hour to uni. Class from 6-8:30pm. Get home at around 9. Eat, shower by 10. Fuck around for about half an hour then it's bedtime. Get 7 hours sleep every weeknight.

You have it easy OP.

>>34863919

You'll get used to it more quickly than you'd think.

You're a fucking idiot. 45 minutes 3 times a week is more than enough to build a great physique.
>>
>>34863725
I know what you mean. It's brutal. I honestly can't believe 40 hours a week is the work schedule everyone agreed on. It's awful.

I'd suggest finding something you like to do so you don't feel demotivated after work, or something that incorporates fitness.

I've decided that I'm going to apply for membership sales jobs at gyms so that I can work my way up to club manager. I have the resume for it and it will be worth the pay cut.
>>
>>34863963

I love keeping myself really busy actually. All I do in that half an hour is channel surf and check out my mail anyway.

I play video games, but only on Saturday nights if I'm not out or doing an assignment.

I usually lurk /fit/ at work. Like now.

Also I only go to Uni 4 nights a week. I usually socialize on Friday/Sat nights.

Have you tried actually lifting heavy?
I work as a construction engineer, so i can go to our changing room, get into my workout clothes, run to the gym in 2 min and get some warm up. Then i do a SS type routine with some hypertrophy exercises afterwards, doesn't take longer than 45 min, and i have 5 minutes to get dressed and shower and then walk back to work with 10 minutes to spare and then eat at my desk. Only weak retards work out more than 45 to 1 hour every time.

I work 12 hour days 5 days a week. I get an hour lunch break on each shift.

Do you know what I do with that hour? I run sprints down the road. If I can steal an extra 30 without any issue, I'll go to the local 24h gym and lift.

You make me sad, OP.
>>
Gym is a chore? What the hell, my gym is the reason i can stand my job, it's what motivates me and give me something to look forward to. Theres no better feeling getting back from the gym feeling exhausted and getting that lifters high. If you think its that bad you should probably change your routine to something you enjoy, who cares if its not as good. Working out should be a hobby not something you have to force yourself to.
>>
>>34864013
This

Also, think of your full time job as a new form of workout : it's going to take some time to get used to it and to find when you can take time and have the energy to hit the gym. Then, depending on the type of workout you do you can find an efficient schedule to train. If you lift really heavy shit, make your workouts revolve around the weekend, like lower body friday evenings, upper body sunday, and a whole body lighter workout on wednesday.
But unless you really need to lift and go to the gym, remember that you can burn calories and stay fit simply by going to work by bicycle and investing in some home equipment you can use whenever you feel like it.

Unless you're flipping burger at the local Crap Donald's you should understand the concept of investing in equipment. Personally I have pic related mountain bike, bought 4 years ago for ~2500$ and ride it 20mn every morning and evening. It costs less than a car in every possible way, doesn't need gas, and burns my useless calories while keeping my cardio on edge.

American society in general has a pretty radical Protestant work ethic. I'm sure most people here have had or seen conversations among friends where having no free time and working all day is almost a point of pride.

I'm not condoning being a NEET, but being constantly buried in work is not an ideal way to live either. I recently managed to cut back my work hours because between that and school, I was having practically no free time to myself or to visit my family; now, I have the time to do my homework and have a solid amount of time on the weekends to do what I want.

What I mean is that rigid planning of schedules like that aren't practical for most people. You think it will be easy to find a girlfriend (let alone wife) who accepts that he has 3 hours of free time per day? What about when your kids need help with shit? When your boss makes you stay late? When your parents start shitting themselves and need constant supervision because they refuse to go into a home or you can't afford it?

I just think a lot of the guys here think it's easy, because they have very few people depending on them and don't have much of a social life. When you're 30 or 40 things are way different. Obviously you should stay as active as possible, but there is a reason so many people get fat later in life despite being in good shape until then. It gets fucking hard, and eventually you aren't the most important person in your life.

youre honestly fucking retarded. this entire board is full of faggots who hear one troll say something in an arrogant way and then stick to it like the fucking bible. unless youre explicitly doing cardio or something you can stop at any time, doing an actual routine takes far more than 45 fucking minutes.

the last thing you want to do in this world is limit your routine to a strict time. you probably also have certain days for certain muscle groups, which often completely destroys potential progress.

I get up at 6AM every working day, hit the gtm for 1 hour and 15 minutes, then work 9-10 hours a day as a programmer, come home to prep my meals for the next day and arrange my household, 1 hour of time for reading and then sleep for 8 hours. It's called discipline. Normies complain about 'not having enough time' and then sit on their ass for two hours watching TV. If you make the most of your time and learn to get shit done effectively you will appreciate your hours and not waste them.
>>
>>34863725

There's this thing called the morning that you can use when you are freshest and most motivated. After work you won't have to worry about the gym because you've already gone. It takes some adjustment, but work is still no excuse for not taking care of oneself.

When I first started to lift in the mornings it was hard as fuck. I would always be tempted to go to sleep a tiny bit later than scheduled at night (half an hour of sleep isn't going to make a difference, is it?). When the alarm would go off at 5:30AM I would *hate* myself from not getting those 30 minutes and would swear to myself to not do it again.
Every morning I'd have my alarm clock play this upon sounding: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbkZrOU1Zag
It gradually gets easier. When I hit the gym in the morning and go to work afterwards I still have a nice pump going, which feels awesome. I also see all those people sleepy and moody while I feel fresh as fuck.
I'd never go back to lifting in the evenings.

I used to work 80 hours per day for 4 months (contract). I worked for home remotely so there's that but I believe the only way I managed to do it at all was having a routine that included lifting.

Training days (Tue, Thur, Sat): Wake up, eat, work for 3 hours, training 2hrs, eat, shower, work for 7-9 more hours.
Non training days: Wake up, shower, 9-12 hours working straight broken up by eating.
If I worked less I either played games, read a book or spent time with the gf.
Sunday: Work for 6 hours, go shopping for food for the whole week, lift, shower, book or a date with the gf.

I'm not telling you to do this because that was a hectic time, but the thing I
am sure is that:
1) Having a routine makes organizing time very easy
2) Lifting and sleeping well makes you think straight and be very efficient even under high work loads.

This.

My gf's mom and dad both got pretty heavy apparently through the late 90's into the mid 2000s. Mom divorced Dad because of the distance created when she starting taking fitness seriously.

Mom is running marathons, speed-biking, and met some guy on a kayaking facebook group and she's the happiest she's ever been in her life, and in good shape for her age.

Dad starts to change diet to super-clean food. Meets qt semi-hippy biologist who does border inspections on animals crossing the Canadian-American border for diseases and shit. Has over 9000 acres of land. He hunts, traps, fishes, and farms all on her property. Happiest and most fit he's been.

Both still love their daughters and respect each-other as parents and adults either way. They just sacked up and realized they way they were living wasn't for them.

Sometimes it doesn't work out for people, sometimes this is what it takes.

I see people not getting /fit/, I get it's not for everyone. What I don't see is how people get dangerously fat.

I'm on my first cut now and this shit is simple. With just shy of 2000 calories per day in me, I'm 500 under my TDEE. There's so much nutrition I can put into that 2000 calories and I make meat a staple part of my dinners without fail, so I end up feeling full at the end. Sure, it requires a shred of discipline to not gorge on sweets or other calorie dense foods... but even then, just take one day on the chin if it happens and saddle back up. Even the fattest fucks can drop down to a healthy size with a year of basic discipline.

/fit/ is another story though. When I started my most recent job, I nearly fell off the bandwagon entirely. 42.5 hour working weeks as standard, 10 hours commute weekly and that's without considering the extra work I put in including working through my lunch. When I set off home, gym didn't even cross my mind and I had a girlfriend expecting me home. Fast forward 4 months, I'm now hitting the gym 5 days a week for an hour at a time. I relish the workout, but getting it to stack up with my new job was tough (last job was 5 hours less per week and an hour commute per week).

A work colleague of mine talked to me about the gym today, he said he didn't see the point. He's got the discipline to hit the gym, but no drive. He doesn't want to be big, he wants to focus his attention on enjoying life, and that's fine. I put plenty of effort into my body and my career that I have little time for more, but those are the choices I make. 4 months ago, I put other priorities first.

>Eat something light and get some tea or PWO, chill for a bit before heading to train
>Train as long as it takes, usually done by 22:00
>Do some housework for about an hour or so
>In bed by midnight

I find time for my other hobbies and interests on the days I don't lift.

Now, one type of workers that deserve sympathy would be sailors. The time I worked as a seaman, I'd be one month on board and one month on shore. Lucky for me I didn't lift then, or I'd be on the walls about the gains I could be making instead of sitting on my ass drinking tea with the lads.

If money wasn't an issue I'd probably still work 20hrs a week (my job is pretty satisfying despite long hours), and spend the rest of the time lifting, doing and learning cool outdoors stuff like hunting.

That's a good attitude. I take it back, good luck. Are you gonna use the money to study something?

My biggest issue is video games right now to be honest.

I work 40 hours a week but I don't go to school, which I could do, nor do I exercise that much. Its all because I just want to play video games when I get home

Sigh.... this looks almost exactly like me at my office... fuck I am fat!!!

Obviously video games give more mental stimulation than lifting but you're retarded if you only get your mental simulation from games.
Go learn some maths or read a book.

As I said again, apply a minute rest to other shit not fucking deadlifts and squats you moron

Call it one, two, three, four minutes, the point is it still all fits in 45 to an hour if you make it

I'm military but working a fucking desk job now and it sucks ass. 10 hours work, commute is total 1 hour each way because I leave at peak traffic time.
But Idk..it's like I need the gym more because of it. So much stupid shit, stupid people at work.

I think of you view the gym as something you don't enjoy then yeah you don't have time as it takes away from your 'free' time. Liftin is my hobby so my hour+ a day is part of my free time.
>>
>>34868742
and scooters are great for dat dere adrenaline rush in the morning.

Squats alone should take at least half an hour

I thought you were going to say

>the last thing I want to do is go home and cook food

That would have been atleast half valid, being too tired to cook for yourself so you resort to junk food and fast food. Going to the gym doesn't matter worth a fuck for losing weight, just stop eating shitty food.

That's all they have to do, just not drink 10 pounds of microwaved butter and a 12 liter of soda every day. Have a can of beans for supper, have some oatmeal for breakfast.
>>
>>34864032
I'd just hate for it to end up being a chore to work out. Burning out is my worst fear in physical fitness. SL 5x5 doesn't take up too much time, but the warm up and the stretching afterwards take up most of my time.

>Not choosing a workplace that has a gym for their employees

Why would you ever do that?

mfw I'm alone almost every day after work in a 2000 sqft gym with everything from useless machines to squat rack. Only exception are a couple of cardio bunnies. But I got the weights all to myself.
