Are Scottish oatcakes a good substitute for bread?
I have them with soup and have a couple of oatcakes and cheese for lunch when I go hiking, but are they actually healthy? (Or healthier than bread)?
I have never heard of these things, but I am intrigued.
Can they be easily made? Are they cheap to buy?

They're really easy to get in Scotland and the rest of the UK and yes, they're cheap. The ones sold in the shop range in size and I suppose level of salt and how 'fancy' they are (brand etc.), but you can't go wrong with a basic oatcake.

for the recipe, they're traditional cooked on girdles/griddles? but I think it says you can use a frying pan.

What does "medium oats" mean over here in burgerland? I've only ever seen whole, steel-cut, and rolled.

They look bretty gud to me. I'll probably try my hand at making them Wednesday.
I fucking love oatcakes.
I eat them smeared with PB as a pre workout snack. Alternatively use them to scoop up quark or greek yoghurt.
