USMC fag here

the PFT and CFT are shit easy for anyone that actually gives even the slightest of fucks.

The problem with it is, that the USMC only technically requires a PASSING score. So a lot of mother fuckers in the air wing and in non-combat/undeployable MOS's just do the minimum to pass.

Honestly, a 300/300 CFT is one of the easiest things I've ever done. The run on the PFT is kinda hard but only because I hate running. With a few weeks of it though, 18 minutes is cake too.

To be fair, these are just the minimum physical requirements for a civilian off the street to get into the academy. At most departments, you also have to pass an extensive background check (WAY more involved than, say, buying a handgun), a polygraph, an oral board style interview, a psychological evaluation, and other tests.

That's just to get into the academy, which is basically like boot camp/basic training - they will whip you into shape.

Once you're out of the academy and actually start working, though, yes, it's true that most departments don't have ongoing requirements. Although that is starting to change.

And for all that, your reward is having the public question every single thing you do for the rest of your career, about a job they know nothing about and wouldn't even be willing to attempt to do themselves.
>>
>>34859990

And obviously, the standards to actually graduate the academy (or pass any military boot camp, etc.) are far higher than the standards to get in.

It's NOT like you just walk in one day, run a little bit, do some push-ups and they say "OK, here's your gun, go get 'em."
>>
>>34859489
you're*

i see your department is lenient with their other standards
>>
>>34860020

Oh, and another thing, just because you pass the minimum requirements doesn't mean you're in, either. All applications are scored and ranked, and at the end they will still only take the top however many they need.

When I applied, there was literally a line around the block competing for like a dozen slots.

>And for all that, your reward is having the public question every single thing you do for the rest of your career, about a job they know nothing about and wouldn't even be willing to attempt to do themselves.
Fuck off pig, if you don't want want the public grilling you, maybe there shouldn't be a police shooting every day in the news. Maybe cops should actually arrest other cops who do bad things, instead of protecting them with the "thin blue line?" Cops are a protected class who can do no wrong, and when any "civilian" questions them their first reaction is condescension and derision, or if you're Quentin Tarantino subtle intimidation.

You can't say it's a "few bad apples" at this point, the whole fucking bushel is rotten.

>>
>>34860092
I dosage that all chips are bad, but I agree that the problem is an institutional one. Cops and soldiers are not infallible and should be punished by both society and their peers when they fuck up. For years they've been above reproach. I hope that changes soon. It would make people a lot more appreciative of police/military and police/military would be more deserving of that appreciation.

It's really America's biggest failing, though, that we can't have honest and intelligent discussions about things like this. People are too susceptible to memes and rhetoric. They get distracted. They are frightened by change. They are paid, in one form or another, to ignore the problem.

No I don't think it's "creepy", do you even know what that word means? People are free to call boycotts on whatever they wish. As for the "surprise" that ONE guy said:

"Something could happen anytime between now and [the premiere]. And a lot of it is going to be driven by Tarantino, who is nothing if not predictable.

"The right time and place will come up and we'll try to hurt him in the only way that seems to matter to him, and that's economically,"

So it's going to be about his money like the boycott is. Shill out. You're hilariously bad at euphemisms because calling an entire group to be "murderers" is not just "questioning/criticizing" them, it's a generalization and ad hominem.
>>
>>34860405
Not him, but when you are a part of a force that blindly and aggressively defends its own regardless of right/wrong and has historically misused its power to fuck other people over undeservedly, you don't get the privilege of making benign threats.
>>
http://www.rnc.gov.nl.ca/careers/stage3.html
RNC test isn't as janky as a lot of the tests in this thread.
It's an obstacle course that must be completed in under four minutes forty seconds, you do six laps. The course includes jumps, climbs, falls, pushes and pulls. You also have to carry a 65kg bag for 100m or something, iirc. A lot of guys I went to high school with are in the RNC now and I helped them with training for this test lol. Not a great feat by any means but constables with the RNC do at least need to maintain a pass in this that's retested every three years on the job.
>>
>>34860405
>You're hilariously bad at euphemisms because calling an entire group to be "murderers"
Not all cops are murderers, it's just strange how police and their unions defend their own without regard to evidence or common decency. Can you really call yourself a "good cop" if you're compliant to a culture of corruption and violence as bad as the American police force? And yes, the Tarantino thing is creepy and threatening, whether it's economic or not police should be aware of their power and privilege and not use it to bully citizens who disagree with them.
>>
>>34860494

Benign threats are not a privilege my friend. You either make benign threats or you don't.

You're generalizing too and your whole post tone, plus using words like "historically" and "you don't get to ____" makes me think you're a leftard like the other dude.

Anyway, back to the thread. Physical requirements for police/firefighters/military can sometimes get pretty retarded and they're essentially nothing but cardio and bodyweight exercise. Wish they'd add more needed weight lifting.
>>
>>34860589

>>
>>34860567

>Can you really call yourself a "good cop" if you're compliant to a culture of corruption and violence as bad as the American police force?

You're a good cop if you do your job of serving and helping citizens and fighting crime, nothing more. I understand that you folks believe that if cops aren't actively doing what you want them to do and publicly criticize their police departments then they're as shit as the bad ones even if they're doing their job right.

I get it, "you're bad for not doing anything" that libtards use to generalize other people. But by that logic the bast majority of people aren't "good people" since they do nothing to stop the bad ones.

> police should be aware of their power and privilege and not use it to bully citizens who disagree with them.

Wahh my free speech doesn't come with freedom from consequences why are they objecting my generalizations?

Literally no part of the job requires physical ability, we don't chase people down in the 21st century. This is a gross oversimplification, but if you're a threat to the public you're going to get tazed and cuffed on the ground, or shot. If you aren't you can take off running and all that will happen is it will be an extra charge/reason for arrest the next time you get pulled over.

Just joined the Army.

Females- Complete 3 Push-ups/17 Sit-ups in 1 minute and 1 mile run in less than 10:30.

Males- Complete 13 Push-ups/17 Sit-ups in 1 minute and 1 mile run in less than 8:30.

These are the bare minimum scores for you to go to basic training with, if you can not meet the standard your ship date is moved to a later time but it rarely happens. Mfw did 46 push ups and 48 sit ups with perfect form in 1 minute and that's the minimum for the 2 minute PT test they give you at basic, with a 7:40 mile time running at my 2 mile pace. If you can't pass the pre-BCT PFT (sometimes called the PFA) you're a sad cunt.

Everyone should be able to at least pass a military PT test. Take your pick. You can do actual sit ups for the Army PFT or you can do "curl ups" and crunches with Navy and Marine Corps. Navy, Coast Guard and Air Force use the 1.5-mile run, the Army does a 2 mile run, and the Marines do a 3 mile run. Pick one, see where you stack up, and improve on it.

Pic semi-related. Typical deployment experience for Air Force.

In Finland the requirements are
>1500m run in 7min 15sec
>agility test (some kind of obstacle course)
>carry a 78kg doll with proper form for 20m
>5 pull ups (you get extra points for more reps)
>long jump (no running) 2m 25cm
>bench press 60kg 3 reps (ass has to be on the bench and feet must be off the floor. You get extra points for more reps)
>100m swim in 3min
All this is done in one hour.

LOL in Lithuania army to pass at lowest grade (6/10) you must do 45 pushup and sit ups in 3 minutes separately without rest. (3for sit ups and 3 for pushups) plus run 3 kilometers under 15 minutes.
If you want to get 10 out of 10 you must do 75 pushup and sit ups in same time and 3 kilometer at 12 minutes

Tried out for CT State Police and didn't make it.

Applicants must:
>Complete 29 Push ups in 1 minute
>Complete 38 situps in 1 minute
>Complete a sit and reach of 16 3/4 inches
>Run 1 1/2 miles in 12:30.

I failed with the situps. I only got 24.
>>
>>34867690
I know brah, me too.
The thing that irks me the most (And at the risk of sounding like an angry permavirgin robot here) are the special requirements for women they set.
A 32.5 kg bench ain't shit for anyone, and rack chins are, in my experience, in no way comparable to the strict pullups the dudes have to do.
I mean, the newspapers make a huge fuss about how well-trained women beat the shit out of untrained men on the military's physical tests, yet the police have that ridiculously low standard.

I do understand that a police officer isn't supposed to be a brawler, powerlifter and marinejeger (Navy SEAL), but the physical tests are ridiculously low.

To elaborate on the "obstacle course": You run along a 15x7 meter course, and every (roughly) 22 meters, you have to lay down on your chest or back, alternating.
Video related, I don't think I'm explaining it well enough in English.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrqNEmWTbe4

So basically you have to run the course 18.5 times, with 37(I think) "stops" to make it, if you're a dude. I think that might be the trickiest bit to pull off, if only because you have to stop running several times while running on a timer.

Is that one of those where they don't hold your legs and you have to still bend them towards your ass? I fucking hate those.

>legs are the counter balance for sit-ups
>heaviest part of the body by not that much
>they make you put your feet towards your ass as much as possible which changes your center of gravity entirely and causes your legs to rise when you sit-up

In highschool the fitness test was like that. All the football players failed because we had built upper bodies. The cross country fags with upper skeletons rekt us.
