If you're a B, then yeah you'll have to do that so your tongue gets used to it. Try smiling really wide, normally that brings your tongue to the top and you could go from there.
I've really been working on my facial aesthetics recently.
You need have your tongue pressed against the roof of your mouth and your front teeth aligned. Keep your jaw closed and slightly clenched. Think about it all the time. If you taste air in your mouth, reset. If you notice your tongue moving around, reset. When you're talking with a qt, make sure to reset.

When you're asleep, you're asleep. The idea would be that over time it would correct itself and become the natural position as it should be. It works mostly on kids who are starting to exhibit the wrong behavior. On adults it's much more difficult to correct. Do what you can.

Front teeth touching definitely looks more aesthetic in the mirror and that's how it got due to my braces, so I guess it was a conscious effort by the lady who did my teeth. It also feels more natural.

Well, i was a mouh breather for most of my life until like 20 when i found out i had an underbite ( my front teeth were directly alligned). I went to some orthos and most of them told me I'd need braces and surgery but one told me I'd just need retainers and proper mouth/tongue positioning. I went with that cause it was cheaper and after about 5 years my top teeth moved slightly forward to a better bite position. Still not 100% though. But yea, he says it works better when you're younger but it can happen over a long time where they'll correct themselves with proper positioning.
