I have stopped drinking every day. When I do drink, it's usually around 1000 kcals worth.
Weight loss is not steady whatsoever. I lost ~7 pounds last month, though.

I went on a road trip earlier this week and stopped at a McDonalds to get a coffee in the morning, and I couldn't believe the fat moms with their fat kids ordering the most disgusting things. These parents should be fined for child abuse. I mean kids like 12 years old with BMIs of 25-30, or even more!

I can't believe how many people I know who have gotten that weight loss surgery. The gastric bypass or sleeve or whatever it is.

Some of them stay fairly fat too or gain it back. I guess you can stretch your stomach if you put enough effort into it.

speaking of, access to food yes, but more like what kind of foods. back as early as in my parents' childhood, meat for example was a once a week kind of luxury, now each and every person in my country at least consumes 150g of it every day, because its affordable.

but really my impression is that the very composition of even basic foodstuffs has changed in ways that leaves us suspectible to obesity, for example with sugar or sugar substitues like HFCS being put into them en masse even if they really dont belong.

education, or rather a lack of thereof, in passing down cooking as a skill and a rite through families is probably not helping. how many people cook for themselves, from scratch, how often, and how many go out to eat?

They put special effort into being obese. They eat snacks constantly in between meals for pleasure and not because they are hungry. A fat guy once told me that he couldn't even remember the last time he was hungry. They're putting effort into being happy and food does that for them; obesity is just a side effect. I don't think it's a bad to try and be happy, but there are much healthier ways to do it.

Not that guy, but I think the problem is that the standard of what is acceptable keeps getting lowed. People used to get made fun of for being fat and so more people were skinny, but now being fat is acceptable and more people are fat.

Just look at how the opposite has happened with cigarettes. Back when it was seen as acceptable everyone smoked but now that kids are taught that it's not acceptable so very few people do it.

And you can't say it's about health because according to the CDC "Obesity-related conditions include heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer, some of the leading causes of preventable death."

If people were taught that being fat was bad and unacceptable in the same way they taught people about cigs, then there would be way less fat people.

and fat acceptance is not something that is taken seriously outside of its own circles, what youre looking at is not acceptance but normalisation. when everybody around you is overweight, not being overweight becomes the noticeable trait.

It's working great for me. It's easy to lose fat that way since im eating 2/3 of my usual meals. I don't even have to count calories most of the time, I just make sure i'm eating heallthy stuff.
It kinda makes me feel better overall and I had my best workouts since i started doing it

I used to binge and was pretty fat. I decided that if I wanted to improve my self esteem and be happy and in control I'd have to become thinner, so i worked out. It was pretty innocent at first. I'd restrict a bit more each day, I cut out junk food, I learned discipline and determination. It felt good, I had more control now, but I didn't feel happy, I felt worse. Eventually I figured that I needed to lose more and more, and then I'd feel happy. I still don't despite losing over 100 lbs.

I think it is the most aesthetic body type. I think more women prefer thin men with nice bodies/abs than the very muscular body type. Less work to maintain. Clothing looks better. I also like the feeling of control like others said. I used to be quite fat and was always teased for it so would really like to have an actually flat stomach/abs for once in my life.

I hurt my back, doctor told me to take off weight. I went to /fit/ but it's all about squatting and lots of exercises I can't do. Here it is more along the lines of what I can do and I find it a relaxing place to post. I don't have a goal of being underweight, but I want to reach a BMI of 21 and then see where to go from there. Yeah my original goal was 216-lbs down to 172-lbs and then be alright, now I'm 151-lbs.

I think I can stop. I mean, I want to have a maintenance calorie amount that allows me to do social things pretty easy.

My original goal is to make my back feel better, and, it's getting better. I'd also like to get a gf, so trying to find the best weight for that which I actually think is probably more in the middle than really really low.

It also feels really good to get told how thin I am. Even the "concerned people" (yes at a bmi of 22 I've had a few of those, I have lost like 65-lbs but it was slow) make me feel good. It's really been the only recent thing someone other than my father has told me I'm doing a good job on.

I'm textbook skinny-fat anons.

Itachi eyes, skinny arms, skinny legs, most of my fat in my belly, chest and a bit in my butt.

I've been 6'0 150 pounds at my lowest last year when I was depressed and barely eating. Currently 168 pounds.

Thing is no matter how much weight I lose, my body looks the same. I just want a flat belly anons but I'm worried no matter how much cardio I do nothing will change.

Fitness forums tell me to bulk then cut but I don't want more fat. I'm worried that I'll try cutting and end up lighter but with the same body type or I'd have to reach extremely unhealthy thinness to force my body to let go of the fat.

It kind of culminated when i was dating this girl who was really thin and every time she touched me i saw myself from the outside and felt sick and ashamed of myself. On one hand I see your point with teaching people about obesity the way they teach about cigarettes, and in fact I'm definitely on the side of taxing sugar, which is a point of discussion in Australia (not sure abt America, you guys can't even let go of your guns). But despite the rise in prices for cigarettes, and all attempts to stop people from smoking (plain packaging being one of the biggest movements in the cause), people are still going to overeat and still going to get fat because it's the same for smoking. People are addicted. It's their lifeline, it's what they pick up when they're bored. But it's easier to say cigarettes are bad, when you can ask anybody and they'd just say that food is a fundamental for life. It's the type of food, and the amount of food, and what food means in terms of culture and lifestyle. So nothing is going to stop obesity in the near future, except for people individually putting it in their brains that what they are consuming is killing them.

As for healthier ways to get happy, since I started eating better, exercising often, I find myself smiling more, laughing more, and generally appreciating other things in life more. It's strange how getting in a certain habit of eating can make you see the world differently. Too bad everyone can't see it that way.

Probably not but I do know teachers get a lot of shit from the students for it, at least they did at my school.
I had a friend who was a pretty sensible eater. She usually ate very slowly, however she ate a lot and didn't get enough exercise, so naturally she was quite overweight. When we had health together, the teacher would tell us about checking the amount of calories and carbs on packet foods to make sure we weren't eating an excess, and she continued from that with a discussion of obesity, and it's impacts on society, and even the amount of money it costs the government to take care of obese people. My friend got really mad and offended about it, and so did a lot of other people in the class, saying it was discriminative and whatever. This was a couple of years ago. Can't imagine what health classes are like now.

I, personally, haven't reached my goal weight, but the main reason I'm working towards being thin, apart from aesthetics, looking good in clothes, and feeling happy and healthy, is that I want to see myself as a different person than I am. I've always been a little over the average weight. I had a doctor who practically became my nutritionist when I was 10, telling me if I didn't cut the carbs I would become obese and get type 2 diabetes. I've always been the friend that the skinny girls could rely on to compare themselves to, who would give me their lunches if they didn't want them. Whenever I sit down, I feel my stomach, I look down at fat thighs. I stand up and already I am at a loss for energy.
My family would buy me clothes as a kid, a size too big for me, because they assumed that I was that fat that I could wear them (I was fat, but in reality would never fit into a size 14 at my height).
I want to be well proportioned. I want to look like a normal, healthy human when I exercise. I want people to look at me when I go out and think 'dang, she is looking on point'. I'm not blessed with the best face, but I know that losing fat will at least make that easier for me. I'm not impatient to get to my goal. It will be worth it.

Yes good, I'm glad. If you can manage, do interval exercise. 3 minutes of intense peddling, 1 minute of rest (cruising or whatever). If that's too much, make it two minutes of intense peddling, 1 minute rest. Might gain you some muscle but it's 'proven' to burn massive amounts of calories (so many sources say this, but it's definitely worth trying).

You sound like such a sweetheart. I love you and can't wait for you to reach your goal. You're going to make it, just stick with it and take your time - don't do anything drastic. Getting permaskinny is the goal, so, keep a reasonable amount of calories and lose weight steadily. Even if it takes a year, it's worth it because you are going to be able to maintain.

I'm 18, female, 5'3'', I've just started on a 1200 calorie limit (about a week now, so I'm just starting out). Haven't weighed myself yet since I'm on holidays and I don't want to start beating myself up about not making any progress but I definitely feel so much better since I started cutting down and doing yoga every morning, squats often, etc.
Last time I weighed myself (2 weeks ago) I was at 65kg which is perhaps the fattest I've been for 7 or 6 years? (maybe not since I'm so reluctant to weigh myself).
My goal for the end of the year is 50 kg. Depending on how I look by then, I will probably go lower but I don't want to have ridiculous expectations since that will most likely set me up for disappointment, failure, and a lot of binging, which I hate.

I have a boyfriend who managed to lose 20 kgs in like two and a half months, just from running. He has a terrible diet since his mother still makes him fries and burgers and shit constantly (but bless her she's a wonderful woman), but his ribs are visible when he stretches, as well as his hipbones and collarbones.
He thinks skinny girls are ugly, and he doesn't want me to get skinny, he just wants me to be healthy, so I tell him that what I'm doing is for my health, not my looks (which is only half a lie). I'm unconcerned by his preferences though, because he doesn't like it when I complain about how I look, so the way I see it, it will still benefit him for me to be happy the way I am.

Also I fucking hate the way tumblr had been teaching me for the most part of my teenage years that it was OK for me to be the way I was, and that I should love myself for who I am. If it's led me to this, than it's not OK.

Your calorie amount sounds reasonable. If you stick to your calorie amounts strictly you'll make consistent progress, but remember weights will fluctuate a bit from day to day so don't panic. Make sure to read the FAQ on weighing yourself, I like the daily weigh ins with weekly average method. Actually read the entire FAQ if you haven't already (it's short).

Your boyfriend might just be being nice and saying you look fine, that's pretty common, even if he is convincing. He might honestly not want you to have a BMI of 16, but I bet he'd be very happy if you were a healthy 21 or something.

Tumblr is cancer and would have continued to reinforce your poor diet habits, but 4chan can be dangerous in taking things too far also. End of the day the Internet is a world of extremes and it is best to make a sound judgement on your own.

I'll try to post updates if there are any to make. So far, not seeing much progress, but I'm sure in a month or two I will. It's still winter where I'm at so the food I've been eating mainly consists of meat and baked foods, but I portion them to entree sized meals. Feels good man. I'm glad I decided to do this.

I still have a tumblr though I tend just to use it as a mood board and for posting thinspo to keep me inspired. I might post progress there. But seriously fuck that place.

But the past year (December) i looked myself at the mirror and i decided it was enough.

i took my skateboard and started to practice tricks, not to be cool, just because it was one thing i enjoyed, and burned calories at the same time, 40 minutes a day, 20 of running or jumping the fastest i could.

I started to get out and play whatever shit, basketball, football, anything.

Obviously it wasn't easy, but i had my mother to support me (food, and general)

Today, i'm around 191 cm and 164-160 (fluctuations) my arm veins show most part of the time, the fat face is almost gone and my collarbones show, unfortunatly i got stretch marks (not really big) on my shoulders and belly.

i think my bmi is around 21.something and my goal weight is like 145, but my family now says that i'm good like i am right now, but i don't know, i think its a mental thing, i still feeling bad.

lately i have been eating bad (like 4 bad meals in the week) i did excersice too,but i feel stuck at this point, don't know if i should still cutting or just eat normal and excersice.

I dont know what to do.

darn I'm sorry to hear about it. I honestly find that pretty heart breaking, since I hate the idea of losing somebody so close to me. DESU comfort eating is a normal human thing to do, but the only thing you can do to stop yourself from binging is having the discipline not to do it. It's your decision. Personally, I stop myself from binging by setting reminders for myself on my phone, which sounds trivial but they do help a lot. Just ones set at around 3 or 4 pm that say 'DON'T EAT. DRINK WATER' or something.

The rest is really up to you. Take out your stress by doing exercise instead of eating. It may be hard to get yourself out of the door at first, but it should make you feel a little bit better, even if you are really shook up about your break up. Do some swimming, even. Draw, read a book, that kinda stuff. Hang in there <3

Hey /fa/. I am at a pretty good weight of 154 pounds at 6'4 but I still have too much body fat.
My arms and legs are all lanky and most of my body fat is in my belly I guess.
Now I attained this shape by an unhealthy cycle of partying for 3 days straight and then spending the next 3 days hiding in my room eating frozen pizzas.
Obviously thats a lifestyle you cant be keeping up forever and my biggest concern is getting fat again. Are there any people here who have been in a similar situation and managed to get out of their teenage drug craze without becoming a fat frustrated shlob?

Damn, that's me. In school, I always gave half of my lunch to my fat friend. My best friend (who isn't fat) always eats at home and if we go to a restaurant I let her try some of my food and end up letting her eat half of my meal. You sound like a sweet person though, you're going to make it!

I usually take it up to my room and put it in a garbage bag I keep in my bathroom that I throw away later. I know that's anorexic behaviour but I don't want to waste calories on that shit.

Because blacks have lower intelligence and are more violent. Segregated schools would help tailor the learning programs toward their lower intelligence and more classes could be created to help them be more civilized. Separate but equal schools - they should have good resources and programs tailored to their needs. Voting for similar reasons, their lower intelligence and inability to know what is best for them has shown that it should be left to the white vote.

Well here in Germany we have three different types of secondary schools and who attends which one depends on their grades in primary school. I think that makes a bit more sense than segregating by race. And don't you think the violence has more to do with social class than race? I mean, are middle class blacks really more aggressive than middle class whites?

I think it still has more to do with class than race. Obviously a lot of Muslim immigrants and their children end up being poor and uneducated but there are plenty who make it.

As long as you're absolutely sure you aren't eating over maintenance, it's food and water weight. When you restrict you have less food inside you, so you "gain" when you eat more. That or you aren't counting calories correctly. Unless you're super fucked up you shouldn't gain on lower 1,000's calorie wise.
It's not starvation mode btw. Doesn't happen unless you're extremely underweight, like famine victim.

i agree.

probem is my diet pretty much consists of

- Apples

- Banana's

- Carrots (Majority)

- Black Coffee

- Sparkling Water/Tap Water ( At least 3 litres Sparkling/1 litre Tap)

Then usually a "proper sized" meal at home i.e Pasta or meat.

I feel like just fruit is more sugar than needed.
