For me, like once a week I meet my dad and we go out to dinner. That day I'll eat calorie restricted like usual until I get to dinner. Then at dinner I don't go crazy and eat everything in sight, but, I'll go significantly over my TDEE.

A few times I "binged" but that was a big mistake because my body wasn't used to eating like that and when I got home I felt really sick. Especially when it comes to desert, since I'm not used to the sugar. I ate a whole slice of cheesecake a few months ago and man was that a mistake. Big time sick.

Trying out intermittent fasting (16/8 split, plus one full fast day a week). Also a vegetarian (no meat or fish, but I eat eggs a lot, and dairy if it happens to be in something already). Cardio for 40 min 3-4 times a week, and strength training at least 3 days a week. I eat 1000-1200 calories a day.

Depends more how you get there than what the end is, within reason. You shouldn't go below like 1300-1400kcal, so going from 18 to 17 should take a long time, 17 to 16, a super long time, and so forth. That way you are getting your nutrition and enough calories to run your body.

If you were 5' 7" and 120lbs, going to 100-lbs (bmi of 15) would take until beginning of next year doing it properly. That's not that far away and would be the safe way to go. Of course it is tempting to eat 800 or something, but, that really risks health problems.

i don't know really. about 14 months ago i was 142lbs and wanted to lose weight so i drastically cut calories and started exercising more. it got to november when i started passing out everywhere and that was the first time the doctors ever looked at my weight (i was 112lb on the home scales and 108lbs on the scales in the doctor's office) and even though i did have an underweight bmi the doctor didn't pursue anything because i faked a normal interest in food.

it's even shitter than you can imagine though - everything i eat bar a handful of 'safe' foods, i feel guilty about eating. i have to weigh loose foods. i have cried and screamed at my parents (i still live with them) over family meals. most days i'm extremely weak and struggle to walk. i also binge eat when drunk and feel shitty about it forever. my parents are now making me get help and i have a doctors appointment thursday and i have no idea what i'm going to weigh since now i'm 104lbs on the scales at home that weigh heavy. i'm just worried that they won't take me seriously because i feel that i'm still fat and i still want to lose more

idk man i suck at losing weight. it takes me about a month to lose 10 lbs and that's like torture.

157 -> 135 (4 months)
then I gained again up to 145 over the course of about a year
145 -> 125 (4 months)
maintained for 2 months
125 -> 115 (2 months? iirc)
gained again back to 130ish
130 -> 112 (2 months)
gained again up to 128

I've had a downward trend but I really just thought I'd be at my goal by now and it always feels like I have to keep starting over. Also I've never actually felt thin when I'd lose weight so it's kinda disheartening

What do you think causes you to go down and then up? Do you get tired of restricting and then binge for a while, then catch yourself and diet again?

I wonder if more gradual weight loss might prevent that from happening. You'd get down to your weight slower but be less likely to go back up, making the overall trend the same rate. Not sure if that makes sense how I'm explaining it.

10-lbs in a month is really fast, and, might be the reason you bounce back up. If you do 4-5-lbs in a month that would be more sustainable

is that all you're eating? you're starving yourself, up your intake to at least 1200 cals. you'll lose weight without ruining your body. also are you serious it's only been a couple of days, chill. if you don't cheat you'll lose 3-4 kg in the first week from water/glycogen alone. your body is probably shocked from going into such a low cal/no carb diet.

Intermintent fasting will actually improve your energy levels, since you're feeling hungry your brain relases chemicals to your body for it to more effeciently and will also boost your metabolism because "you need to go hunt for some food" is just how the brain is wired

this is a tough process I used to be 104 pounds at my lowest, being a 5'7 guy this worried people around and i got so brain washed by them telling me I wasn't happy (even tho I never was happpier) I started gaining weight, eventually I reached 145 which is a "normal" weight for my age, gender, height etc, but I felt like shit, disgusted, depressed, lost, so I decided to be who I want to be and not what everybody expects me to be, I'm around 115lbs today and I Feel how my life is already feeling so much better, I'm siling more, hanging out with friends way more often and just feeling so much better overall.

Sure. I mean I've lost 62-lbs so far, so, the final 4-lbs will come off eventually. It's just about how fast I want that to happen. I need to do a better job of eating less during the day, for sure. Dinner I have to be full from because otherwise I can't sleep, which seems to be a common thing on this thread.

Rather than dieting, per say, I'm really more keen on learning how to eat. I'm trying to adjust the ways I eat to be how I'll eat forever that way I keep this off.

I have an advice,stop being vegetarian.It has literally zero advantages and you can't live on vegetarian low carb,also it's extremely difficult for vegans/vegetarians to lose weight because of their heavy carbohydrate daily consumption.

Start with 1400-1500kcal the first three days if you decide to do low carb diet ignoring weight loss because it's a pain in the ass to get rid of carbs,trust me.You'll find it extremely difficult to stick to,then do a higher deficit and you'll be burning fat 24/7.

Don't stop doing cardio like anon said. Cardio makes me less hungry and it fills the time between meals. I never ate breakfast even when I wasn't trying to lose weight but eat it if you want. Just means you have less calories for your other meals. You have to decide for yourself what kind of body you want. ~50 would be pretty thin but not skeletal though. Also, don't do a high deficit if you want to actually maintain your weight. Calculate your TDEE and substract up to 500 but you shouldn't eat less than 1200 kcal a day. The risk that you'll binge just goes up the more you restrict.

The caloric restriction shouldn't go higher than 500Cal under your TDEE, unlike many of this thread's posters, and you should be getting enough protein anyway to avoid having your body cannibalize itself.

Another point of overwhelming stupidity I see are vegan cuts and "I just fill up on X! It works!" nonsense. Your objective is shedding body fat. If you don't eat enough protein and don't accompany your diet with exercise, your body will start eating MUSCLE, not FAT, paradoxically making you look even fatter even as you lose weight.

Just an FYI, there are a lot of fasting approaches out there. Intermittent fasting is only one of them. You could try the 5:2 diet instead, or alternative day fasting. I like these approaches better since it isn't every day that I have to worry about controlling my eating in the morning, and for those days I usually know what I'll have throughout the day in order to meet a small calorie demand. If I space my calories out during a fast day I really only get hungry/low energy by the end of the day, and I can sleep off most of the hunger and indulge in the morning. I feel this diet approach is sustainable for me, with at least 1 fast day a week, and it is also scientifically backed to be healthy by keeping insulin sensitivity up and IGF-1 levels down.

It is worth nothing that I am a /fit/ fag and I use this for recomping while keeping my body fat down. Different goals, but maybe it's useful info for you. Also, that 'last 4 lbs' seems to always turn into the second to last 4 lbs, hopefully you are close to where you'd want to be.
