You're in for a world of pain if you want a 'theatre quality' short with that level of knowledge.
You can buy all the gear you want, but having slightly worse gear and knowing how to use it will always triumph.
Also, please do not use your lens' maximum aperture all the fucking time for a 'film look'.
Having said this though, do go for a gh4, friend :)

I shoot with a Nikon D5100, Olympus OM10, and Nikon FunTouch 6.
I love my Olympus the most. Plus 28mm makes for interesting shots in the city.

Best place to get camera advice? (For a newbie)? I've wanted to get into photography for some years now but didn't have the chance to buy a camera. I reckon getting a DSLR is probably the best option since its the best of both but I'm unsure what would be best for a beginner but not to expensive. Heard stuff Ile 600d 500d or something along there was decent but unsure what will be good to start on while giving high-best quality. Not willing to spend £1k+ since I'm not in that position yet.

/r/photography has some good threads on it. Also not sure what kind of photography you're into but if it's studio photography/ fashion photography check out the Inverse Square Law of Light. Slimane masters that technique and his set ups are so simple in terms of lighting but executed to perfection

Don't get a 4K camera unless you have the hard drive and SD card space to deal with it. Considering your level of knowledge I would get a t3i and spend more money on a nice lens. Since you want that "film look" go for a nice prime with a low f stop then spend the rest of your money on lights and audio. I don't know what you're planning on shooting so just go look this up on some other website that isn't fashion related.

if you dont know jack shit about photography practic with a point and shoot until you et a grasp of it and start getting tired of how limiting are point and shoots, then buy a dslr that fits your photography style
i still use my old point and shoot because it fits in my jacket pockets and it still takes dece pics like pic related, DSLRS are more complex than point and shoots and for newbies its sometimes overwhelming and it drives them off from the hobby, checking out /p/ after getting the basics is a pretty good idea

If you're not shooting low light, anything that shoots 25fps at 1080p is a good camera already.
Spend your money on lenses, good microphones and camera stabilizers. Try to buy an used full frame dslr.
