But real talk, seeing as you're asking us (and by dint, I assume you're attempting the foolish task of trying to satisfy this fickle thread), you have two options. Both of which depend on whether you're doing 2D or 3D.
I'd fucking love a 3D game that managed to implement destruction physics effectively, stead of the old "Hit a building X times and then it disappears". If you can pull the physics thing off, you can literally do anything else and the game would still be interesting.
If you're going 2D, well you're going to have to sink more time into story and/or CG's. You could do a standard RPG schtick, but I think a graphical text based adventure could also be fun. Bonus points if you lampoon some of the more common tropes with this fetish, like the obnoxious phrase "little man", or how character's do a complete 180 personality wise after growing/obtaining a shrunken person.
