WTF. I sat there looking at this picture for 5 seconds trying to figure out what that was. Diego from Ice Age? Some Twilight/YA novel crap?

Only the filename gave me a clue. It's a fucking furry dragon. THEY MADE PETE'S DRAGON INTO FURBAIT.

2016 keeps getting worse.
>>
>>84573283
If they were going to make it furry, at least throw some purple in there.

I don't.....

But I do give a shit about the Jungle Book and just about every upcoming remake.

Disney has finally realized they can't make cartoons for shit anymore, and now they have to resort to remaking what were light-hearted movies into edgy, realistic movies......

Only a matter of time before they tackle Robin Hoo-

I unironically did. The music's pretty good and it's that 2D/Live Action aesthetic that made it one of my favorite movies growing up. Not as great as Mary Poppins but it was feel-good and fun, then later on when I was older I appreciated the whole hard look at an abusive family and Pete's success at getting away from that.

Doc Terminus also is undeniably the best aspect of the movie.

Are you sad they made the Jungle Book closer to the book?

To be honest, I haven't watched the movie out of spite.

Pretty sure thought they're not following the 'books', considering Baloo is supposed to be a sageous character that all the animals turned to for advice, and they had Bill-fucking-Murray voice him.

Truth be told, I don't know how far the Mowgli story goes, but he pretty much does away with Shere Khan in the first book, who by the way, was characterized as being lame and a joke among other animals.

When I saw one of the TV spots I got the impression that it was 'post 9-11' Pete's Dragon, but I haven't seen many of the older live-action Disney movies BESIDES Pete's Dragon. What were the more thrilling ones like 20,000 Leagues or Race to Witch Mountain like?

What's 'post 9-11' Pete's Dragon?

I'm actually scared to know....
>>
>>84573686
Well after 9-11 a lot of movies generally got more serious and had a sort of documentary look to them, like zooming in on a shot really suddenly or being lit darker, stuff like that, and that's the kind of impression I got from it.
Not, like, buildings were going to explode or something.
>>
>>84573221
I did. I like Charles Tyner and the song Bill of Sale.
>>
It's not like you absolutely have to follow any rules when designing a mythical creature.
>>
I wonder how long it'll take before they do The Little Mermaid.
>>
>>84573780
It's not even that--Pete's Dragon was a light-hearted movie about a boy and his imaginary dragon. It took what were otherwise dark themes about abusive adaptive parents and running away into a fucking musical.

Now it's probably going to take a darker, more realistic tone, and be widely accredited for it.

Literally, all Disney needs to do is change the fucking name, but they seem content on butchering every movie, story and franchise they can get their grubby hands on.

Worst yet, most of their films are bound to go through the 'publicly correct' filter, and sterilize the theme in general.

Meant to say 'politically correct'

God, I still cringe at how Zootopia loved to shove the diversity theme down our throats.

Finding Nemo was about a crippled kid, yet they didn't have to shout 'I'M HAND-CAPABLE' every other line.
>>
>>84573160
The same thing they did to figment. Make him a CGI abomination. Also why the fuck does he look like a flying green tiger?
>>
>>84573979

What's pretty glaring with how over the top Disney's getting with pounding in these narratives is comparing Finding Nemo to Finding Dory.
>>
>>84574111
wut?
>>
>>84574088
Didn't they use a Tiger's Roar for the original?
>>

Coincidentally, this also around the time digital film making was being pushed into the mainstream.

>Worst yet, most of their films are bound to go through the 'publicly correct' filter, and sterilize the theme in general.

I wonder how much they'll try to get it through our heads that Belle doesn't have stockholm syndrome in the upcoming Beauty and the Beast in order to finally shut feminists up.
>>
>>84573610
Baloo isnt actually that sagey in the book. He isnt unwise, sure, but he is also kind of airheaded.

People listen to him mainly because he is usually the biggest guy around.
>>
>>84573729
>Well after 9-11 a lot of movies generally got more serious and had a sort of documentary look to them, like zooming in on a shot really suddenly or being lit darker, stuff like that, and that's the kind of impression I got from it.

Sounds more like "modern comic book/no whimsy allowed" to me.
>>
>>84574439
It's affected a lot of American media in general.
I'm not sure about the comic book whimsy slide since I haven't read comics in a while, but I know in general that they started getting more serious in like the 80s or something.
>>
>>84573221
I didn't (my brother did though).

Honestly don't understand why they waste their time with him. Or the Aristocats.
>>
>>84573436
Disney is releasing one or two animated movies per year. With sequels for recent movies.
Zootopia has NOTHING in common with Robin Hood besides the anthro animals.

Moana and Gigantic are not remakes either.

Hand drawn animation for feature length movies may be dead but Disney is certainly not abandoning original 3D animation.
>>
I thought this shit was Mogli and Baguera.
>>
>>84573222
What a waste of trips.

>>84573979
If you think Zootopia was about promoting diversity, you are as stupid as the Tumblrtards who believed the predators were meant to be analogous to black people.
The movie is about stereotypes. Which is why we had a racing sloth, a pudgy cheetah, etc.

I visit /pol/ everyday but you are just being simple, now.
>>
>>84574276
Finding Nemo is about learning what it takes to venture outside of your safe space. It likewise focuses on the parent/child bond and the nature of growing up.

What movie did you watch?
>>
>>84575266
Those were literally gags, puns

And it wasn't just about blacks, but diversity general, albeit done in a very crude sense of the theme.
>>
>>84575268
Yes, Nemo was about parental insecurities, but that largely stems from the fact that Nemo is a cripple.

It was a very tasteful theme because they made it a moot issue.
>Go swim up that tube
>B-but I'm cripple......
>And? Swim up the goddamn tube!
>Oh hey, I really can do this!
>Now shut the fuck up, or is your mouth crippled too?
>>
>>84573221
Mother fucker I am 32, I grew up with that movie, I could sing ANY song from it right now. If I was ever in the same room with the person who thought this needed a remake, I would gleefully torture them to death, Hostel style.
>>
>>84573160
Are they finally making a sequel to the Eragon
>>
>>84573436
>edgy
Jungle Book was a kids movie through and through, fuck off
>>
It's not 2D
>>
>>84575336
No it wasn't. It was a theme. Dumb cowardly bunnies, untrustworthy foxes, meek sheep. Almost every single important character was defying a stereotype.
>>
>>84575408
Nemo was not the main character of Finding Nemo.
