A good power fantasy character respects suspension of disbelief. A bad power fantasy character breaks it for the sake of easy writing. That's how Mary Sues are born.
A Mary Sue character is insufferable because it isn't believable. Its flaws are either nonexistent or informed - mentioned in passing. And what reader can empathize with that?
If your character hops over every obstacles with but an afterthought, the power fantasy is worth nothing. It will help no one but the writer, because it's not even a story, it's intellectual masturbation. And no one likes to see a writer jerk off, except maybe one or two guys who are specifically into whatever is being jerked off to. But that's it. Nobody else will be here once you've reached the last page.
Mary Sues get everything on a silver platter. Why? Because the WRITER themselves wants the power fantasy story handed to them on a silver platter. They're lazy, they don't want to write. They want the power fantasy to write itself, for their personal satisfaction.
And that's how you get the Mary Sue: a half-baked character made to cater purely to the writer, who, being lazy, doesn't feel like working on a real story that respects suspension of disbelief and can be enjoyed by other reader.
