Thorr's hammer required you be unworthy to use is and he couldn't use it anymore. It might be that there is some middle ground between "Worthy" and "Unworthy" though that he fell into during the fight.

The implication was that he was worthy again, yeah.
>>
>>84331447

Not true. They said that there was a reason, but the ONLY people who knew what it was were Aaron himself and his editor, Wil Moss.

No one else. Not Brevoort, not Hickman, not the FUCKING EDITOR-IN-CHIEF.

Which sure, sounds to me an awful lot like a "eh, we'll think of it later" because otherwise it's fucking insane that this wouldn't be something that wouldn't get explained at the Creative Summit so other writers and editors know at least.

He hasn't hit puberty yet. Otherwise, he wouldn't have brought back the Ultimate Universe by now.

>>84332849
This is kinda what upset me about Aaron's Fem Thor. He reduced Thor to a hammer. He made it seem like he was going to talk about what it meant to be worthy and so on and so forth but he just says "assume that Jane's worthy."

Everything she does we are supposed to assume or view in light of her worthiness as opposed to watching her grow and learn as a hero. Learn how to fly? Lucky the hammer will do that for her. Fight? Hammer gives her a freebie. Make difficult decisions? Nah, just say Odin's a tyrant and be done with it.
>>
>>84335592
Agreed. I'm all for shirtless Thor looking like that. His new armor looks way too Ultimate Thor post losing powers.

I don't get Aaron's claiming the hammer was a big deal. Honestly... Odin can easily make a hammer. He can make a stronger hammer for Thor. He could've had a new hammer that was just for him when he got the arm made.

He should just have the axe enchanted so that it can fly or always return to him. Jarnjborn is pimp.

>>
>>84333618
Time Runs Out is basically retconned by the end of Secret Wars. Hyperion and Thor absolutely died and 616 died. Reed and Franklin Richards recreated the universe and the events of Time Runs Out happened pretty differently, partially because Reed wasn't around for that shit so he wouldn't have known about it.

>>
>>84336061
You shut your whore mouth! Ultimate Mjolnir is a great designed hammer.
>>
>>84336033
I mean, we've seen it before in the DeFalco arc, Odin acting strangely and being corrupted. I could almost buy Aaron doing this as an out due to how poorly he's written Odin.

But I think Aaron imagines himself following in Fraction's footsteps and writing it as though Odin is a patriarchal jerk. Like within the first five sentences of all mothers' appearance they are going on about "the patriarchy."

I think Fraction was wrong about Odin. But at least he can get some wiggle room because he was trying to build up to fear itself and reveal that Odin was actually an overprotective father who didn't do the right thing but loved Thor deep down.

Aaron is messing all that up.
>>
>>84336104
It's a piece of shit, from a piece of shit universe that got what was coming to it.
>>
>>84336138
>within the first five sentences of all mothers' appearance they are going on about "the patriarchy."
I mean, technically, society being ruled by an "all-father" is pretty much the definition of a patriarchy isn't it? I don't know if it has some twisted meme-meaning, but up to that point the rulers had all been men. Bor, Odin, Balder, Loki, Thor, even Heimdall a bit during the Masterson Thor days. All dudes. The All-mother was an alright idea that was completely mishandled by the Thor books but decent in the Loki books. And Aaron has handled Odin's return with zero tact.

I hate how Aaron is writing Odin too of course, which is a shame because Ewing wrote him great in AoA. I feel like when it comes to the Asgardian characters, its always best to steer closer to how Simonson wrote them. Not necessarily the same speech, but at least the characterizations.

Odin being corrupted by The Serpent is a perfectly fine out.
>>
>>84336138
He is very clearly under The Serpents spell.
>>
>>84336375
>>84336138
Having Odin be corrupted brother also gives an out for why he couldn't pick up Mjolnir and didn't immediately curbstomp Jane.

The unfortunate thing about all this is that I think there actually is a genuinely good story through Aaron's Thor books that he's just utterly failing at telling well because it requires more subtlety than he is capable of.

And when it was good, it was great.
>>
>>84336582

and when it was bad, it was fucking terrible. 616 still hasnt seen ulltimatum and its fallout lows
>>
>>84336375
i guess fair point with the patriarchy. But I'm pretty sure he meant it in the common feminist sense.

I think the all-mothers were just a bad idea. I just can't find any reason to even think this was a thing. Having Gaea as an all-mother flies in the face of common sense given that we know she left asgard and never showed up so as not to embarass Freja. Also, given that Gaea is Gaea, if she is there she arguably has a stronger claim to the throne given that she's an elder goddess.

Had Freja just been given rulership over Asgard that would've been perfectly understandable though. I actually like Freja playing the cool and collected one in response to Odin's outburst. But instead of coming up with a good cop-bad cop deal, Aaron uses it to diminish Odin.

>>84336481
>>84336490
I guess. I never really considered that cause its so obvious. I can see Bor betraying Odin later, but not right now.

Is Odin really secretly afraid of losing his son again? I guess it is an out. Does this mean we are gearing up for a fear itself 2? I figured since Odin and Bor went away and played chess for a few years they talked it out. Bor gets most of what he wants in exchange for not killing Thor.

There's almost something beautiful in something as awful as Ultimatum. The answer to the Ultimate Universe starting to get a bit stale as the youthful energy was to obliterate everything. Kill as many characters off as possible and render other characters unusable. Then having Millar come in with Ultimate Avengers and produce one of the greatest pieces of satire in modern cape comics and Millar's magnum opus, ending with him killing off Spider-man

In truth, Ultimate was the universe that refused to die. It refused to give up. Marvel just kept throwing universe ending events at it and it kept on until it took the biggest event they've ever done to finally kill it off.

And even then, Ultimate survives through shit like this. Never forget that it was the Ultimate Universe that has given you back Thor.

Ultimate Marvel deserves our respect.

Well it's hard to tell because her announcement opened up the floodgate for crossboarders, but she was despised for months before her first issue even came out and at that time the only thing we knew about her is that she was going to be calling herself Thor and that she was a woman wielding Mjolnir post-Thor becoming unworthy.

So, yeah, it was mostly the whole "woman" thing, but unfortunately the comic itself didn't really do anything to assuage the bitching and just made it all the worse with that scene in issue 4.

This is damned smart move on Marvel's part.
Think about it: Thor, the man. Not the GOD, not the OverPowered win machine, not even the same Thor that he was with the hammer, Mjolnir.
This is his own story for the first time in Thor comics. Not a story about his hammer or alter-ego or his power or his myth or his heritage.
That's a good thing.

Oh well, I haven't really missed reading Thor that much in the last couple of years anyhoo.
>>
Ya know, I'm just kind of glad Thor's truly back. Plus, c'mon, the ultimate hammer has a ballin' design

I wonder how Asatruar feel about all of this?

Come on folks. Thor the God of Thunder was great up until we switched to Malekith, which was obviously wedged into Thor's story for the movie. As soon as that was gone the Roxxon arc was alright. It had its moments, not as great as Godbutcher and bomb, sure.
Whor was an abomination, and I hope now that Aaron is writing out Whor he gets the same freedom as he did on the first arc.
I don't see a problem with that.

>Thor the God of Thunder was great up until we switched to Malekith

God Butcher was a generic rehash of an older Thor storyline with nice art and novelty narrative tool that divided the story in three separate time periods, that's all. It's massively overrated.

Why has he got a gun? This just seems wrong on every level.

>>84330795
Guys, guys I figured out why Thor was no longer worthy. In Aaron's mind, it appears that Gods, no all 'good guys' need to be major asshats who don't follow the rules and stick it to authority. Now, as Thor was no longer an asshole and a decent moral being, he was no longer his father's son.

Enter Jane, who abandoned her husband, child and life and decided to spend the rest of her days being a superhero before dying of cancer, instead of you know. Making sure her affairs are in order and helping her family to prepare for the fact that she has cancer and will die. I mean, look, now she is the ultimate asshole and will definitely have the power to be the new Thor!
>>
>>84334259
That's a huge ass.
>>
>>84347004

Amen.
>>
>>84333077

It was a bit of both. Battleworld was largely made up of what Doom could save from dying universes, but obviously there was a bit that had to be created from scratch to stitch it all together. The intent was to save as much as he could before all of existence came to an end, but obviously a certain amount of creativity was required in order to make it all work together.

And then the ungrateful peasants turned on him anyway.
>>
>>84347092

He'd have to. 616 Tony was nothing like the 616 Tony in 'Ultimate End'. Plus he died when a helicarrier crashed on him.

This is the second time Tony Stark was recreated from whole cloth by Franklin Richards.

It was a far superior rehash of an older Thor storyline
Desak was generic as fuuuuuuuuuuuck

He did JMS' run. It's nostalgia. Like seeing Pak back on Hulk.
>>
>>84330973
Nah, bro. Those first six issues of Godbutcher were absolutely on fire. All the young Thor stuff with him fighting and fucking while carrying Jarnbjorn has already settled in as a new aspect of the lore that'll endure for a long time, I think.

I don't see how you'd get much sjw whiner tears from this. Isn't this what the people carrying out personal holy wars against femthor wants?
>>
>>84347118

You're right not to. I have read it, and if it was satire, it was too subtle to work. It crossed Poe's Law's line.

>>84347145

I want to put you in a pit and piss on you. Every day. For the nest six or seven years.

You're just lucky I don't have a basement.

Bitch.

Not that Desak wasn't generic - it's the suggestion the God Butcher was even a little bit better.

I thought it was just bad, until I read the phrase "All-Black the Necrosword" and realized I had been reading satire all this time.

>>84347259

You would be in that pit next to him.

>>
>>84347474
What does it actually mean to be worthy or unworthy? It's so vague I'm sure the writer can make it mean whatever he wants.
Thor believes him when Nick says it and accepts that he will kill Jane and becomes unworthy, easy.
>>
>>84332061
Who's bitch is this?
>>
>>84347527

Being worthy of Mjölnir I have always taken to mean that:
- You have to be honest.
- You have to be brave.
- You have to be a warrior.

That's why Wonder Woman could lift it, and so could Captain America, but not Superman or Batman.

Although? Superman is very much against killing, but if he absolutely has to, like with Doomsday, he does. In fact, after dying fighting Doomsday, he was a shoe-in for Walhalla.

Of course, usually the rules also include
- You have to be Thor.

That's also why the whole Whor situation is such a load of shit.
>>
>>84347527
It could be anything, really its just a way for writers can make anything up to make him unworthy, that vague area could mean that Thor for a moment thought he wasn't worthy of the hammer. In the end it's a bullshit plot device for the writers to be lazy.
>>
I don't read Thor, how did he lose his arm?
>>
>>84347004
Should've just let it whisk you away.
Unabashed crazy fantasy adventure through space and time with imaginative places, characters and dialogues. I'm not saying it's a literary masterpiece, I'm saying it's a fun read.
>>
>>84347767
>Of course, usually the rules also include
>- You have to be Thor.

Backwards. If you can lift the hammer, you're Thor. It's in writing on the side of the damn thing.

Malekith ripped it I think.
I can only remember the Illuminated version where Malekith forms a metal rock band.

Except he clearly is going to be portrayed as the second fiddle Thor and they'll remind us every issue that he's an imposter
>>

I think it's experience. Aaron loves his pets and refuses to let them ever have any sort of conflict or meaningful flaws. Instead, he has the rest of the world talk about how important his pets are and have them do things that are impossible.

Also any character who is against his pet, in any shape or form, even if they have valid points are monsters.

It is kind of amazing how much both he and Bendis write in style that pisses me the fuck off. I honestly wonder what it is about them?
