Probably the most noteworthy thing about this film was it was released in 3D, but using polarised lenses like modern 3D films, and not coloured lenses like in the 1950s.I saw it at the cinema when it first came out.

Space and fantasy worlds were especially great. You felt like anything could happen. They didn't need a reason to have fun. It didn't need to be a plot point or further the story. It could develop the characters, but mostly it was fun — out of nowhere: bandits, space-pirates, orcs, a lady in peril, a strange planet where they have to make an emergency landing, an enchanted glade, a cursed town. It was just an unexpected part of the journey.
