Is this guy a good character? I just found out about him and he seems fascinating on paper.

Give it a read. Tony's utterly bananas but it's way more intriguing if you give the book a read.
>>
>>84297687
yeah its a fun ride. ties up kind of shitty, but overall a good read.
>>
>>84297687
I think Incorruptible was better, but this was still good.

Tony was meant to suffer.

Do you have that flashback to him as a kid with super hearing?

Not really. All the things that lead to his fall from grace were kind of contrived. It felt pretty unnatural all around

The last issue has a superb ending by Waid.
>>
>>84299812
that's the orst part of being the plutonian. Most of the people he hears crying out in terror are already dead. There is nothing he can do and he still hears them scream.

>>84299835
No it didn't

Well, I liked it.

He is just like MoS superman, after he goes rogue (just like MoS superman according to the flash)

Incorruptible is sightly better and Max Damage in my opinion is a better character (huge asshole with a inferiority complex that slept with teenagers girls decides to be a perfect superhero).
Both are good but Irreedemable drags for too long and Incorruptible gives you blue balls for the huge fight Mark Waid was teasing and in the nothings happens.
>>
>>84297687
Not excalty, but the story is good. Less about him and more about the world and the left over heroes.

>He is just like MoS superman
Not really, Mos/Bvs Clark genuinely wants to help people but was held back by possible world scale dire consequences.
And when people didn't appreciate his help he contemplated it and worried over what he is doing wrong.

Plutonian was a selfish petty spiteful self glorifying prick who did it for the acclaim & glory.
And when people didn't praise him, he reacted with rage & hatred.
>>
>>84297687
Was he the "superman" raised by a family that were actually agents for the US government? I remember reading a comic with that in there but it's been so long that I'm not sure if it was irredeemable.
>>
>>84301233
That was Hyperion in JMS's Supreme Power

>and Incorruptible gives you blue balls for the huge fight Mark Waid was teasing and in the nothings happens.
Yeah. Maybe the anticlimax was the point, but I feel Incorruptible would have been better as a stand alone story

Tony has always been a psychopath. It's not entirely his fault, a lot comes from his father, another retarded however, at the beginning, Tony tries to control his dark side devoting himself entirely to the good. An interesting thing is the enormous emotional stress that has on his shoulders and stupidity of the common people who claim that Tony must be an infallible savior 24h, an often debated issue even for Superman and, in the case of Tony, involves a nervous breakdown.

But it is also true that his life becomes a mess because the story is deliberately forced to become a disaster. The virus problem is completely forced and everything happens at the worst possible way.
>>
>>84297687
It gets really shitty towards the end, but the ride there is a lot of fun.
>>
>>84297687

He's irredeemable

>Incorruptible is sightly better
Incorruptible is boring as hell.
>>
>>84297687
I liked it more in the beginning, but as we learned more about him, it seemed more like he was designed to turn into berserk evil Superman. Like it was always going to happen based on everything he grew up with.

That seemed to kind of lessen the impact of his eventual turn, at least to me. It's no longer a tragic fall from grace, but an inevitable evolution of his person.

I don't know, it just felt off to me.
>>
I liked him. I especially liked that he turned out to have been born with a neurological imbalance instead of the writers trying to argue that having super powers means you have to be an asshole who will kill hundreds of millions of people.

Cute. CUTE!
>>
>>84297687
He is quite the broken individual, the more the story progresses the more you realize there wasn't any way in hell he wouldn't snap one way or another.
>>
>>84305127
Well wasn't that already close to happening to the triplet guy whose brothers leeched power off him?
>>
>>84297687
I expected to read the story of an adult hero with a solid determination and a pure mindset that would eventually get broken.
Instead, Tony already had problems since childhood; he was more of a ticking bomb waiting to explode even before he started his career as a hero.

I still enjoyed the read a lot, but not exactly what I was looking for.
>>
Does anyone have the moment where he snaps?
>>
>>84307064
>Fine!
>>
>>84305911
This, he's irredeemable because he was broken from the beginning. Even at the end of his story, he makes no effort to think about his mistakes and claims to be redeemed without really make a repentance or an admission of guilt. He just does not care to. He wants to save people for personal gratification.
