The 4th season was too bloated with drawn out grand dad antics and whatnot and too sorely missing these essential swift parody moments.
It was this basic formula that kept the show on the careful balance between familiar and bizarre. To be honest the full blown absurdity was already happening in Season 3 but at least it was balanced by having a semblance of a point, novelty and being brief.

Jesus actually might have been black given that Nubians were on the move in the ancient world. He was most likely not sub-saharan African, given that the trans-Saharan slave trade had yet to begin though. Same thing with him being white, as in of European ancestry. The Romans were in the area, but they were Roman soldiers and merchants in that area. Any white European people in that area would not have been poor like in the Jesus story. Nobody knows the ethnic ancestry of the man, but we do all know that his parents were peasants and he was a working class carpenter.
