He used to be a fan favorite character but now he's seen less and less and people seem to hate him. What happened?

Knowing Marvel, he probably was too masculine. They'll have to neuter him dramatically or make him into an anti-hero/villain.

The only people who hate him are comic bloggers who like to go to the well of "LOL90s". Gambit's still a really popular character among fans and that's with basically a decade fo not really being featured in any of the main X-Men books.

I like him fine, but X-Men are being tanked almost as bad as FF. I'll check back in ten years from now, see if its any better.

I still like gambit and was kinda bummed he just got like five minutes of screentime in the wolverine movie.
