I just obtained a Pirates of Dark Water LaserDisc and a the often sought after "World Book".

But didn't they release all the episodes on DVD?
Laserdisk was better than VHS in most regards, but it is not better than DVD at all.

They're still really cool and totally watchable (particularly on a CRT), they're several leagues above VHS and Laserdiscs can actually occasionally have better transfers than DVD for produced-on-videotape sort of stuff, primarily because the DVDs for lots of old cartoons shows are not particularly well encoded. The Ren & Stimpy episodes released on Laserdisc look significantly better there than they do on DVD.
