Oh my goodness SHUT UP.

No. I refuse to believe that Luke Cage of all people is some arthouse yuppie who wants to be all matchies with their significant other. Bullshit.

Fuck off, this scene was great.

Why is their waitress a 12 year old?

You really expect an artist to redraw a panel every fucking time they want to re-use a shot?

This is how you make the start to a strong woman that don't need no man comic.

I missed when Jessica was a broken bitch instead of the henpecking yuppie of a wife to Luke Cage.

What I don't get is why people shit on the writers for pages like these when it's CLEARLY the artist being a lazy fuck.

Ultimate Spider-Man #13 is a fucking master class in making a dialogue-heavy issue work. If I had scans I'd post the whole thing because it really is brilliant.
>>

that's literally their job, so yes

Anime levels of corner-cutting.

you can't salvage shitty unnatural dialogues with lines and lines of emotionless exposition though.

You are everything wrong with this world, you shit eating fanatic.
>>
>>84099505
In contrast to what everyone has said, don't think you need to change the layout or angles but yes Id expect them to re draw each panel. It makes the art actually feel alive as opposed to a literal copy paste.
>>
It's actually a solid page. Reads out like a real conversation. Doesn't take up a billion panels with same face.
>>
>>84100301
To add a bit onto this, it's easy to read. There are some bendis pages where its just paragraphs of text across a splash. This flows really easily and it's not part of an action packed comic going over a sprawling epic anyways.
>>
>>84099925
you're pretty easy rankled, aren't ya james

That was intentional, Doom was practically lobotomized by Banner.
>>
>>84100301
No Bendis, people don't talk like that.
>>
What's the source on this. I know it's Acuna but what book?
>>
>>84100139
At least by my experience, part of the writer's work is also stating how many panels are you going to expend in which dialogue, and also what's going to happen in each panel. So yes, we can blame the writer too to certain extent for that useless use of space and time.
>>
>>84099391
the entire point is the amount of inaction. its emphasizing the slow pace at which he is thinking.
I'd say the second panel on the second page is superfluous in this format but is probably there to balance the panels of both pages when viewing as a book.
>>
>>84103021

>>84100261
Are they all literally machines that stay perfectly still for several seconds without breathing, who once they look away and look back strike the exact same position in space that they previously had, again without breathing or showing any sign of being alive?

The reason why other artist will re draw the same people even if they aren't supposed to have moved is because it gives the illusion of life. People breath or fidget a tiny bit that makes their long hair move. Maybe Dr. Doom would revert to the same exact position, but cloak wouldn't.
>>
>>84103228
yeah, but they're cartoon drawings. This isn't DaVinci trying to capture life in paint, its dudes doodling superheroes punching each other.
>>
>>84103311
Doesn't matter. It's still art, and art is supposed to imitate life. If he doesn't want to redraw everything, then the artist should think of another way to frame this scene that isn't the same panel 8 times.
>>
>>84103311
Having low standards because comics are a "lesser medium" is an awful excuse.
>>
>>84103228
I am probably sounding like I am coming hard on this pages but I don't really blame the artist for doing so. To him its probably just a job and he is on a tight deadline, similar to when they trace, they rather just take this opportunity to breath a little.

And I can't fully blame them, a lot of the readership doesn't care about this subtle effect. However if this was the artist original work that he was far more invested in he probably would draw every single panel, because he would go to every extent he can to elevate his work.

This type of pages are akin to an actor just "phoning it in" to pick up his paycheck.

More likely that Jessica dies, and an 'earlier' version of her (that matches her pre-pregnancy self, with heavy elements of Ritter) is dropped into the setting so she can basically have her own ongoing Alias NOW.

I can actually see a heartbroken and bitter Luke Cage trying to juggle being a single dad and being a hero for hire. Would give him something new.

>>

The problem isn't the content or the art really, it's the fact that both characters have the same voice and personality. Neither character feels like a character. You could switch out Luke or Jessica for anyone else and it wouldn't matter.

>>84099432
Luke is just joking. They're having a casual conversation over coffee, the suggestion isn't meant to be serious.

Did Jessica take Cage's surname when they married? She's most known for the Jones, I forget if she ever did.
>>

>Did Jessica take Cage's surname when they married? She's most known for the Jones, I forget if she ever did.

No, believe she is still Jones, but Danni is a Cage. So, a compromise, I guess?

I don't care if it sounds like a stripper name, I liked Jewel.
>>
>>84099235
I am really Ok with this. I need my Luke Cage and Iron fist to act like JD and Turk from Scrubs.

What now needs to happen is a Hero's for Hire book written by Bendis. It should be like Scrubs but with less hospitals and more punching/day dreams.
>>
>>84099235
Is it Benis again?

Okay, anon. I know it hurts. I'm pretty happy myself with current comic-Jessica and her effectively having the happy life that most heroines and heroes dream of. It's sweet. I even have the trades of Alias and Pulse, capped by the Avengers Annual where they marry.

But you also have to see that as one of the now most recognizable Marvel figures (after all, despite a smaller viewer base that is Netflix, JJ reviewed better than AoS and some of the films, and will probably get a DVD release eventually) they will want to market her more and take advantage. Thus why she has for some reason gone back on her character growth of being happy being Power Woman, and reopened Alias Investigations and started drinking again. Why she is getting an issue of Civil War 2. And why she is rumored to be getting an ongoing.

They will probably try to leave her married with a kid, but... how often has that ever worked, anon? It doesn't match her show status quo. She is too happy anon. And it's only going to become more evident after JJ season 2 and the Defenders.

I'm sorry anon, i am so sorry. But she got mainstream/MCU attention. She is no Captain America, or even Coulson, but it was enough.
>>

>They're gonna ruin the family and happiness of Heroes for Hire

No not gonna happen. Jessica is Bendis's self insert for that hot BBC Luke is packing
>>
>>84111084

Guess we'll see. Don't forget the What If where she joins SHIELD and naturally ends up marrying Captain 'Steve Rodgers' America. Luke is second best, because he can't justify the best boi. BBC can't compete with with dat mighty shield.

But as that will never happen in the MCU either, they will likely get together in the shows too.

I can't bring myself to mind him wanking Jessica as his pet character. I actually really liked Alias and her show. She's something different amidst a sea of fucking heroines in leotards and lesbian haircuts and cultural 'diversity'.

>>84110744
Yeah like I think now he types them on a Microsoft.... welll.... maybe.... a Mac.... no must use IBM. Haha can you believe it? Computers.
