SUPERDUPONT: THE REVIVAL

aka France can do even capeshit comics better.
>>
>>
first page in, we already got nipples. This wouldn't be allowed in American comics.
>>
>>84081472
>>
>>84081490
reminds me of the original Xbox commercials.
>>
>>84081512
>>
>>84081528
>>
>>84081539
>>
>>84081595
note how the cosmic ray is NOT the origin of the kids power. It literally only came in to salute the newborn.
>>
what in the fuck
>>
>>84081641
Anyone reading?
>>
>>84081436
Is Superdupond his Bizarro?
>>
>>84081671
>black family has 8 kids

strangely normal in France nowadays.
>>
>>84081703
>>
>>84081741
>>
>>84081762
The art emulates Gotlibs style so much; but it is hard to notice since it is all coloured.
>>
>>84081671
I think we're all just in utter disbelief.
>>
>>84081789
>>
>>84081815

>>84081809
That's completely normal, this comic is that much better than Crisis of the Civil Wars or whatever the fuck is the current summer capeshit crossover.
>>
Man the artwork is fucking great
>>
>>84081845
I mean, if this was a DC comic, then the birth of Supermans son would be an 8-issues crossover sold in 2 months over 5 titles, and would result in the destruction of half of Metropolis.
>>
>>84081873
now that's how you do in-air manoeuvring.

also, 3d supra vision.
>>
>>84081901
now that's one strong contrail.
>>
I love the idea of a France-loving french superhero with the power of Frenchyness. It's so frensh. Does "Dupont" have a special meaning?
>>
>>84081920
uh-oh, here comes the fuzz.
>>
>>84081938
>be flying at supersonic speeds in a military aircraft
>pursue unknown flying object
>it does a 180 turn and hugs your cockpit
>oh, it's nothing, just a baby!

happens every day.
>>
>>84081987
>>
>>84082011
and now... Superdupont changes a daiper!
>>
>>84082033
I considered censoring this image for our American readers... should I have done so?
>>
>>84082060
and now, a daring rescue!
>>
>>84082075
The kid is a born hero!
>>
>>84082101
>>
>>84082135
And now, Superdupont explains what makes a hero a superhero.
>>
>>84082157
>>
>>84082167
>>
>>84082187
anyone following the uefa 2016 so far would agree that this could indeed happen.
>>
>>84082215
next chapter: a titanic air rescue!
>>
>>84082237
flying potatoes in the air is a common occurrence in Europe.
>>
>>84082251
But, these are not potatoes! These are icebergs!
>>
>>84082278
guys, remember to bump this if you are reading.
>>
>>84082300
No other superhero has an ultra-sensitive pinky finger.

This is marvellous.

>>84082361
>>
>>84082379
this fucking page.

>Where should I put the plane?
>oh, just throw it over there with the other plane wrecks we have stored right on the airport

5th panel would make a great reaction image; I considered using it as the censor cover.

and remember, don't trust your baby to airheads!
>>
>>84082459
who writes all this crap?!?
>>
>>84082483
>>
>>84082251

the scummiest of all scum!
>>
>>84082562
Im sad that they arent all Laughing in an evil "Hon Hon Hon" tone
>>
>>84082574
Those who've read Gotlib comics before can see how this scene, too, emulates his style.
>>
>>84082594
>>
>>84082637
last panel would also make a good reaction image.
>>
>>84082655
He doesn't just wear his underwear outside, he wears his entire diaper on the outside.
>>
>>84082704
A haystack made out of needles, that has to be as evil as a Nazi made out of bees.
>>
>>84082739

>>84082519
>Flying potatoes
>Shouldnt this be more commonplace in Ireland?

Technically that's still part of Europe. Or is it not anymore, with the brexit happening?
>>
>>84082789
what a jigsaw of landscapes.
>>
What the fuck is going on?
>>
>>84082805
I think we can all agree here that this is exactly how the lair of the pope of darkness should look like.

How could my Japanese kids shows be wrong?
>>
>>84082846

>What the fuck is going on?

The bellowed Super-Frenchman of France had his newborn super-son stolen by the Pope of Darkness, trying to corrupt him to evilness. The father, Superdupont, mounts a rescue.
>>
>>84082913

>>84082869
Did he at least fight using Savate style?

I want to know where can you buy weapons that literally fire sound effects.
>>
>>84082956

The guy on the bottom is probably a parody of some famous French TV person, knowing how Gotlib comics usually go.

Gotlib is GOAT. The French Harvey Kurtzman. Thanks for doing this. Tis pity next to none of his work is available in English. C'mon, you wimps - they're just puns! Man up!

HONEY I'M HOME
>>
>>84083141
>>
>>84083152
I wonder what the original pun was on that last panel.
>>
>>84083166
Great last page.
>>
>>84081931
Dupont is one of the most given last name in France, it's like Smith or something
>>
>>84083166

>>84083078
It doesn't help that sometimes there are 8 puns in a single panel, crossing into each other, plus a ton of panels all full of text; and that's just one page in a Gotlib comic.

But seriously, I'd pay to see more Gotlib stuff translated.
>>
>>84083209
>>
>>84083224
And there you go - this is how you properly do a capeshit comic.
>>
Neal Adams drew an episode of Superdupont back in the 80s.
>>
le super bump
>>
Thank you for the excellent storytime OP
>>
Is the original Gotlib Superdupont translated?
>>
>>84083327
Sadly, no. Gotlib's Pervers Pépère (Pevert Pappy) got scanlated a year ago and a couple of "Rubrique-a-Brac" episodes got translated by Fantagraphics in the mid-80s...but that's about it.

I'm impressed that they all look stereotypically ooga booga bix nood-type blacks.

I honestly thought that was just a /pol/-level joke, having grown up in a multicultural area and never knowing any blacks that looked like that...and then I went to a highly-black college. Not many, but a few I'd see regularly looked like that and I was shocked it was real.

Thanks OP that was pretty fun.

As a French black guy, i find this funny, mostly because i actually don't look like this at all.
>>
>>84095014
I'm pretty sure that's the intent, considering Superdupont is sort of a parody of propaganda.
Costumes are semi-accurate for Africans though
>>
>>84093795
I know it's hard for you yanks to understand, but the human body is a natural thing.
Not all cultures are afraid/aroused/disgusted by the sight of bodyparts.
I so pity your tense and stressed realationship with your own bodies - relax.
