I think you guys need to be a bit more observant about your panel composition and how things flow. You have a diagonal slant across three subsequent panels, and Miss Melee starts in the center, falls to the left and...then kind of reorients back at the center? And her thoughts, the point of the third panel, the impact in the central panel of the page, are really small and understated.

A better way to visually guide your reader would be to place her more on the right hand side and slowly have her fall into the left corner, visually "cornering" her and showing her "slipping". It also leads to your next panel naturally.

It would also be a good idea to tighten the shot with each successive frame for a smooth transition between these three panels.

Pic related, shoddy edit to show you what I mean.
>>
>>84076972
Yeah that looks pretty great. Centering people in panels is a general no-no. Especially if there's nothing else in the panel.

What are some good ways to improve your dialogue? I recently shared some of my work with an editing friend of mine, and he made my lines sound so much better.
>>
>>84077879
read buks
>>
>>84077879
Lots of people will recommend lots of things but as a writer myself I honestly never really studied or researched or observed to get better at dialogue. I practiced, took critiques, and made sure to stick to keeping it succinct. My only real dialogue influence is Tim O'Brien's novel, The Things They Carried, but I stray pretty heavily from that in the dialogue department, I think. It's important to think about "what's the fewest amount of words I can use to say the same thing?" and "would people in the real world talk like this?" with every line of dialogue you write. I'd honestly say it's more attention to detail, practice and applying fundamentals than it is proper study to get good at dialogue.
>>
>>84077979
>what's the fewest amount of words I can use to say the same thing?
I try to think more 'the most interesting number of words' but then my comic can easily be accused of being too wordy. I constantly think about how it should be in an audio format

I think my problem is my writing is kind of boring, but my editor friend made my lines more interesting, he even surprised me by using words I never would have thought of. He has 30 years of experiance, so I guess I can learn a lot. Are there like free sites where you can share dialogue for critique? Should I get a thesaurus as well or something?
>>
>>84078161
i like to bust out the online thesaurus from time to time, especially for poetic stuff or rhymes, but usually it never reccommends the words i want for normal dialogue.
the tough part is knowing those words that are unique and indispensible. for those you just have to listen carefully to erudite people talking and pick out words you haven't thought of and go study their meaning
>>
>>84078161
You could take your dialogue to /lit/ and have them crit you. I can't promise they'll be any good, though.

>>
>>84078161
For general writing purposes, it's good to have a thesaurus and a style guide (something like Strunk & White's Elements of Style, Chicago Manual of Style, or the New York Times Manual of Style and Usage).

There are also numerous specialized books on period/subculture slang, idioms, proverb collections, etc. I'm especially a fan of the 1811 Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue. They usually make good pleasure reading, but sadly aren't utilized in thesaurus format. In 1811's case that means you can't just look for synonyms for asshole. Instead you've got to read through to F and find "fundament" without knowing that "fundament" was the word you were looking for.

The best thing to do is just read a lot, read out of your depth occasionally, and google the bits you don't understand or are curious about. Also if you've got an editor correcting your grammar, take some time to look up whatever "rules" he's correcting you on. You might as well know what a participle is.
>>
Reposting this because I never got an answer back from the anon who requested it on his thoughts

Is it still possible to get popular on deviantart, or should I move my comic onto tumblr? It feels harder to find some smaller lesser known artists on tumblr than deviantart. And i dont like the interface. Where do you guys recommend starting out?

I was planning on getting a somewhat decent fanbase on deviantart than branching out to tumblr, twitter, and what not.

How do artists on tumblr and twitter even get popular?
>>
>>84079408

DA is kind of a shitty place to try to get popular by way of comics, unless you already have a huge following.

It isn't really built for comics. I suppose you might get a following if you spam groups, and do tons of fanart to bait people into coming to your page, where they'll also see your comics, but I've not seen any of that work for too many comic-focused artists.
>>
Are there any guyver-esque webcomics out there?
>>
>>84079408
DA isn't worth it as far as I can tell.

On tumblr, I think getting popular is some combination of clever tag use, submitting material to tumblrs that reblog stuff in a given category, following/engaging with people, and so on.
>>
>>84079408
dA's heyday has long passed
>>
>>84079405

I'm fucking losing my mind over having to start my pages over and over from the smallest mistake /hyw/. Is there an easy way to condition myself to like drawing digitally so I can just ctrl-z my problems away, instead of having to redraw the same shit tens of times over from the very beginning?
>>
>>84079638
could you learn how to digitally edit your physical drawings?
in any case you shouldnt have to start the whole thing over from one mistake, only the mistake part.
>>
>>84079689
The problem is the mistake usually comes so far into doing the strip that its near impossible for me to fix without there being a lasting mark on the page.

>>84079533
okay. Fine. ill accept it.

What do you guys suggest I do then to start getting known on tumblr? On deviantart, I started getting views just by commenting on other people's work and joining clubs. Is there some way, I can find a bunch of brand new comics on tumblr, with no comments, so I can spread out and engage more? I feel like trying to talk with a tumblr celebrities is pointless.

>>84079481
>submitting material to tumblrs that reblog stuff in a given category
Is this just using the right tags? Or is there like a special thing I can submit things to?

I like to do writing more than comics though btw, and using wattpad. Dont kill me.

That's just the main problem I have with wattpad and tumblr, where can I find the brand new submitted stuff, instead of the 10k views pieces of work?

Should I also do twitter?
>>
>>84079638
Why are you starting over and over again, Anon? Are you drawing directly with ink? Don't you know erasers exist? Ink erasers? Don't you know how to patch your drawings with paper cutouts or tracing paper?
There are a bunch of ways to save drawings on a traditional medium, you don't have to start a page from scratch every time you fuck up a little detail.
>>
>>84079859

You can digitally undo anything. Even on physical pages/traditional media. It might take a little time to get it to look right, but far better than literally starting the same page over.

Worst case scenario, there's white out, and/or just drawing the bad panel over again. Even on professional comics, if you look at pre-scanned pages, you often see entire panels or areas whited out or covered up and redrawn.

It isn't the end of the world if you make some mistakes, short of literally knocking a bottle of ink over on the page, or something.
>>
>>84079908
>Is there some way I can find a bunch of new/unknown comic artists to engage with.

This thread for starters. Any number of webcomic forums will also do.

>Or is there like a special thing I can submit things to?

By way of example, look up eatsleepdraw, artistsupport, and webcomixwatch. Poke around their respective "about" or "faq" sections. There are many blogs like these, and they work a little like groups on DA. You submit work to a spot that already has a bunch of eyeballs on it. With luck, some of those eyeballs are drawn your way.
>>
>>84079122
Nice start, and I know you're doing it for fun for an anon who asked.

Personally I think you're flipping the fonts too many times. I know what you're going for in the accentuations on words, but branding wise, for a logo, this is a poor decision.

Also, it's not really clear what the "punchline" is for the logo is. Now, this is something you have to ask the creator of the series, but is it "brutal" or is it "cruel" or is it "super-hero high school"?

The TMNT logo here is a good example, where the TMN part of it is understated giving the attention to the word "turtles," which is more important than them being teenaged, mutants, or ninjas.

If this were my logo project, I'd keep the "super brutal super cruel" font type the same, maybe make the words "brutal" and "cruel" ever so slightly bigger or bolded or colored differently to give them emphasis. I would then join the font faces of Super Hero Highschool together because the hook of the whole thing isn't that there are super heros, it isn't that there's a highschool, rather there's a highschool for superheros. Thus you join them.

That's just my 2 cents.
>>
>>84080174
>this thread
>Feel when I did post here and got nothing
well, more reasons to end it.

But i'll try these group things I guess. I'm going to make sure to find lesser known people. This is bullshit that tumblr and wattpad only shows people with 10,000 notes.
>>
>>84079908
>What do you guys suggest I do then to start getting known on tumblr?
Fanart. That's how my artist got to 800+ followers. Most of his fanart was /co/ drawthread deliveries.

>>
>>84080365
I mean that if you're looking for people to engage with on tumblr, here we are. Everybody's got one.

If you're posting here looking for feedback and desperate for a (You), the way to do it is usually to ask for specific feedback (how's my dialogue? is this composition clear? which pose says "x" better?), show up often, and maybe chat with somebody in the same post so they'll feel obligated to look at and comment on your work in their response.
>>
>>84080497
Not him but he isn't wrong. I got 900+ followers doing something similar. The tumblr for my comic has significantly less followers though (150)

I've got over a thousand followers for my porn. About 20 some for my webcomic. Would it be a good idea to advertise the webcomic to the porn people, even though it's not porn related?

Here's my tumblr, wattpad, deviantart. No, you don't have to read it. but could you guys tell me what im doing wrong here? I don't know what to do, or where to comment on things. I feel like I wrote everything wrong, but im too embarrassed to post it on /lit/ because i know it's garbage. But im not sure how to even start getting good at writing stories. i write my stories like they're plays. I don't what to do. I felt like i was actually getting somewhere by increasing my page views on deviantart, but on tumblr and wattpad. I feel like im doing everything wrong.

I guess I could try doing what you said to write small things and ask for feedback.

So there. And since im already doing this, ill just say im DollSlaps. i used to post critiques here in october, and i made a comic that had a character called prokii i submitted here. im a senior in highschool too, so im not a starving artist and have some time to learn. I wish i actually had some online writing friends or be an apprentice of someone instead of anonymous people. Ive already shitposted on the /ic/ beginner thread for two years. Anyhow, I MIGHT not be able to work on my comic for the next two weeks (going to the US; I'm afraid the trip would kill 5-6 year old laptop)

I feel bad about not being able to update next week; I have the page of the next chapter, but haven't had the time to work on the map because of work. I might wip out a quick "map coming soon" image so that I can start updating this chapter the week after

I think the way you draw characters is great; they're super extressive and you clearly understand stylisation and the look of your pages would translate perfectly into a cartoon.
Though it triggers my autism how the line thickness doesn't vary between the roots (being thicker the closer they are to the "viewer") The pages don't look bad, mind you; just something that catches my eye

No offense, but that's because your art isn't any good. It's going to take a lot of practice before anyone's going to take note of your work.

The best advice I can give you right now is to forget about trying to advertise yourself and focus on practicing the basics of drawing until it's in your bones. You can do comics if you want (it's good practice for art and writing), but don't expect them to be successful, and don't make them long or complicated. You want to finish them.

Well, if I went back and made several more attempts and spent more time looking at references i know i could do better. But, i'm not really concerned about the art. Plus, not to show off my ego, but there's a fair number of people who have a solid fanbase with mediocre art, and it wasn't even for fetishes.

What do I even write? A paragraph? I don't know what to write besides a long story. All I want to write is a story that feels like a japanese light novel. My most favorite cartoon every is haruhi suzumiya after all. That's my goal.

I was never too passionate about drawing. I want to be proud of coming up with a good story; not if i can draw the most kawaii waifu, or create the most epic reaction faces.
>>

>>
>>84081522
I don't think anyone would mind if you just uploaded the first page of the chapter without the map. Maybe you could upload a placeholder page where the map would go so the comments won't get messed up when you add it later?

As for the page, it's really nice but I feel like the characters don't look at all wet when they hit the beach.

I really need to find out how to upload the text directly in a tumblr post.

Besides, it's too long for anyone to actually read. I only got one person to read it. And he did it because I begged.

I know im being complicated. But i feel stuck. like, what do i even write that people will read? Has to be short, and i could put it on a tumblr post. Maybe im supposed to write short things, get some fans, and then after I have some fans, they would be willing to read longer things. But i don't what to write about that's only a paragraph long.
>>
>>84082634
Have you tried going to forums for authors/writers? Participated in NaNoWriMo?
Other writers are probably more likely to give your stories a read when you're just starting out. In a comic thread, people kinda expect you to actually post comics.
>>
>>84082634
It's just bad and generic. Plus, this isn't 1900s, writing alone is not enough anymore. Free entertainment is a click away for everyone with internet.

You can cite one or two outliers, but that's just you looking for excuses to staying mediocre.
>>
>>84082778
Sounds interesting. I guess I could try writing forums. Im going to start writing small things and submitting tumblr.
>>84082939
Maybe I could draw picture with. Okay, but here is my question though:

How do i write anime that's not cringe worthy weeb stuff? Like, i want to write anime like a harem or school life or milky holmes, but i don't know how to not make it cringy and cliche. And I don't want to write an anime parody or any otaku spoof.
>>
>>84079408
DeviantART is horrenous for comics. If you want a following there it is best if you utilize your artistian skills on either fanart or original art to reel them in because they'll want to see more of your content.

>>84079908
>What do you guys suggest I do then to start getting known on tumblr?
Adapt to a schedule and continue to post daily: if you're going to post a original comic and if it is your first comic, post at least a few pages on start day to draw in an audience. Be sure to mix in fanart and original art too, on off-days when you're not posting your comic. Add in concept art and captions to accompany it.

>I feel like trying to talk with a tumblr celebrities is pointless
Then don't. Lurk their Tumblr, some do provide informative Q&A's on how they got started and how they became well-known in the community.

>Should I also use Twitter?
Twitter is a good communication platform, so yes. Another key to building an audience is through interaction with your fans and keeping them up to date.

>wattpad
You should opt for Wordpress.
>>
>>84083041
>How do i write anime that's not cringe worthy weeb stuff?

If you try to write anime, it will suck, always.

None of the the good stories they make in Japan try to be "anime", they're just trying to be good stories. Write YOUR take on harem or school life or whatever, as its own thing, without trying to imitate anything. If it ends up "anime", then so be it, but make it so that it ends up there because it's actually the best place for it to go.

just remember what made good anime good and try to channel that same thing. because you know what made bad anime bad in recent years? 'trying to be anime like those other ones we like'.. and failing. it's not enough to aim at something good, you have to understand it. fully know what made it what it was

I would try to add more detailing on the ground in the first two panels. Maybe at least some shadowing under/around the buildings, and the bones in the second panel. I like how the skeleton sort of wraps around the landscape, though. It's a simple, small thing, but adds believable depth.

I'd also try to maybe not put so many planets in the sky. 1, 2, or 3 look really, really cool, but a sky filled with giant planets just doesn't really make much sense from a real science perspective.

Also, I feel like the flying thing--as neat as it looks--really gets lost in the last panel. His black spotting is almost identical to the ground below. From the thumbnail, you can't even tell he's there, and the fact that his wings are almost the same size as the chunks of ground you black spotted below, it gives it an off look.

>>84084186

Same thing to say about the planets in this page. Also, seems kind of odd to have the title like, 2/3 the way down the page.

You're going for that old-school, pulpy sci-fi, and those usually had a big establishing shot panel with the title in it on the first page, or they just went all out and had a big one-panel landscape splash page with the title.
>>

Thank you very much for taking the time to look.
I don't argue woth crotoque as a rule- but thought I should mention:
The planet is the last a survivor of a previous universe, the planets in the sky are the literal ghosts of all the worlds consumed by this world (Destrokk) in the godwar that destroyed that universe. Hence the title.

>The planet is the last a survivor of a previous universe, the planets in the sky are the literal ghosts of all the worlds consumed by this world (Destrokk) in the godwar that destroyed that universe. Hence the title.

Ok, I see. I still think it looks a little odd, but I think part of that may also be because some of them kind of look like they were just pasted there, so they stick out a little too.

I suspected you had some intentional reasoning behind it, but it still seems a tad strange to me.

Maybe do something to make them look a little less "solid" or something? I'm not sure how a "ghost" planet would work, but something to indicate that they're more phantasmal or ethereal in nature, or something.
>>
>>84084568
I'll definitely give it some thought. I do need to detail some if them, though. I honestly didn't notice I'd left so many undone.

You're right about that. I should probably try to change the color of the sky a bit in some panels to make some of them more visible.
It's kinda the difficulty when the onomatopoeia is water-related (so it'll be blue); but the character are also SURROUNDED by blue from the sea or the sky, so it's sometimes hard to find the right shade...

>>
>>84086908
No understanding of the basics, for sure. I should hope nobody's debating that.
Brings up an interesting topic though. How do you define artistic flair? One assumes it's not simply a matter of taste.
>>
I remember in that chat, Dewd was a bit under the weather because /co/ had that thread mocking that guy who made a comic ripping off a lot of Capcom stuff like Resident Evil and Megaman. I remember him clearly saying that seeing that thread made him worry he was going in a similar direction, and could potentially be frowned upon.

This was before everyone ganged up on him with the Overwatch stuff and now this, so I think he made up his mind on the subject, if you ask me.

And I can respect that, even if I don't fully agree with it, if it's a well thought decision made by someone who knows what he wants, if that what it is.

well he's had a few of them from the beginning, but what's weird is the most obvious and major instance was a genuine accident. he made the tweaks to get that character away from looking like a ripoff. Some of the others had some influence but weren't straight up ripoffs.
I think the necessity of full originality in characters varies directly with their main character status. A one-shot cameo can and should be a direct homage for comedy purposes, but you don't want them sticking around forever.
I've made some stnanks in the past by mistaking a single unique character for a repeated archetype. Fortunately I usually do a bad job of ripping things off, and as any actor will tell you, a poor imitation becomes your own character.

Flare is no imitable by anyone else's hand, totally subconscious. When you are very consciously making something, you have no flare.

It's best if you learn the basics first though (a very conscious process), then as soon as you get comfortable, you can show off your unique flare.

I think dewd has a fuckton of that (it's not as if he sits and tries to meticulously copy, if he did I would hope it looked better), but I do see what you mean. and I notice it in my own stuff. I go into a very different mode when I'm trying to directly copy something, even if it's a reference photo.
actually I think what you're detecting with dewd's art, that "very conciously making something" aspect, comes from how hard he has to focus on making things not just look like a big messy pile. which, yeah, the fundamentals help with tremendously. Even though it looks like a lot of work at first, it really is worth it.
>>
>>84087304
well there is an intrinsic problem with drawing fat cartoon characters, if you give them stubby legs you have to give them stubby arms to match, otherwise they look like apes. but that seriously limits their body language and gestures. you look at peter griffin, or even homer simpson a lot of the time.. their hands don't reach down to mid thigh at all, they would look wrong if they did. but if they need to reach into their pants or something, the artist just cheats a longer arm

I especially like the idea of them literally being several ages together, and thus representing different age groups... except if they have always shared one body, then they wouldn't have a normal-person viewpoint..
>>
>>84089852

>they wouldn't have a normal-person viewpoint.

They are humans with very human aspirations. I suppose if anything it may be more akin to how one would grow with a disability. Still, them simply being a product of modern society (regardless of their condition) occasionally provides very relatable, and understandable points of view.

For better or for worse they were raised with the idea that their condition would be hidden. It eventually became very apparent that completely shutting them in wasn't the best option. They hid under the guise of a somewhat more subtle medical condition, and would attend public school in fits and starts with their "parents" filling in the blanks with homeschooling.

Each girl is an individual, They essentially learned to share their lives with each other. Naturally this doesn't just work without conflict, and the story picks up where such a thing might really come to a head.

due to the structure of our compound eyes, we aren't able to make out the intricate details exactly, but the colors are nice. one of us landed on it the other day and tried furiously to pollinate parts of it. It didn't work yet but we're going to keep at it.
you are welcome to come by any time and have some of our honey as long as you don't disturb the bee babies
love, hiveworks

I had an idea for a webcomic about a little frog wizard apprentice that gets sent on an impossible quest by his master but he doesn't know it's impossible so he just sets out on his adventure anyways and has a lot of fun lighthearted adventures along the way. Would you guys read it? Pic related, it's a concept for the main character.
>>
>>84093570
post your comic and anons will ease the uncertainty
>>
>>84094397
It's super complicated.

I mean the comic is at http://decompressed-comic.tumblr.com/archive which is the comic itself, but there's also stuff like the thumbnailed things for my higher budget interactive sequences, like http://a.pomf.cat/octpaj.swf (arrows to move, z to jump, x to shoot) which I submitted as a "thumbnail" equivalent for a future bossfight sequence in the comic with some placeholder sprites, and which have a concept that isn't properly conveyed in the archive yet.

It's stickman shit, admittedly, but I have tried to see if I can polish stickman shit to a mirror shine.
>>
>>84094018
It's a decent enough premise, but as with all premises, the execution is far more important.

I like the book.
The fez doesn't read very well, since the color is similar to the book and its height makes it line up.
>>
>>84094513
well that is interesting
>>
>>84094018
Sounds cute and frogs are always a plus. I'd check it out. Main character looks alright but his skin seems a bit too saturated, especially next to his dull clothing.

From a thumbnail this almost looks endearing, and then in full size it's easy to see that you have no grasp on basic character design and it's more of a decent head on a squiggly non-body.
>>
>>84095319
Worse is that he's just blatantly ripping off Wander.
>>
>>84086399
>When you can decipher someone's entertainment history through his work, it means that work is just a mindless regurgitation of what actual creatives produce.

Ehhh. Depends.
If it's more vague (like, characters having an ability vaguely similar to another's or slightly similar physiology) there's nothing wrong with small tells.
>>
>>84095397
Nothing about >>84085609 is a small tell. I took one look at the character design and I knew it was blatantly copied from Wander Over Yonder. I don't even watch that show, my experience with it comes from glancing at various WOY images posted to /co/.
>>
>>84095457
I'm not defending it, I'm disputing the intensity of the claim against it as it relates to other things.

For example, you KNOW Hater from WoY is influenced by Skeletor. A lot of fictional badguys who are skeletons have that influence because, despite He-Man being shit, Skeletor is a pretty good design and a fun character.

There's nothing wrong with the fact that Hater has elements cribbed from Skeletor, because his design and character are distinct. Dewd's character is Hater dressed up as a questionable Latin American stereotype. He's even a space traveller despite that being at odds with his gimmick just because Hater is too. That's the point I'm getting at.
>>
>>84094018
I dunno, Anon. The thing about frog protagonists that they're overdone; nobody wants frog protagonists anymore, LEAST of all in a Fantasy setting :^)

seriously though, it's cute, I like how he carried what I assume is a norma-sized book in his back. I think the clothes could be a bit more interesting; maybe with some pattern on the robe sleeves or having a belt with bags and containers of magic ingredients attached to it

>>84093095

>>

Dumb frogposter.
>>
>>84095641
>For example, you KNOW Hater from WoY is influenced by Skeletor
The thing about that is, it's not the VERY FIRST thing you think when you look at him. You don't take one look at Hater and go "oh, it's Skeletor" like you do for Dewd's Wander knockoff.
>>
>>84087139
Watch out Jamil! The ladder behind the bird's head is a tangent. Even if you reduce it's intensity, the placement is flawed. Fix it before you ink it

should every story element from large arc to small tiny itty bitty sub plots link together in some way?
>>

Most of everything should serve the central premise. If not directly, then at least indirectly. Also this applies more for a single story than for a series of stories, so it depends a little on how serialized the work is.

>>84096451
It's funny because bayonetta is the one of the several obvious ripoffs (spawn, carnage, senketsu, and the origin of the bat'leth) that i know and care nothing about, but because it's hair, that's kind of the most dead-on one. I kinda wondered who'd think of what first.
>>
>>84095641
I didn't see any similarity there, I was surprised people weren't yelling undertale ripoff because pudgy skeleton. It actually never occurred to me before that hater was a skeleton, i thought he was just a weird horned ghoul. but then I don't like that show, so..
all I really saw here was mccracken influence, just the type of eyes and cute face and shoes that appear not just in wander but in foster's, which I also don't like. but those influences are pretty much straight up craig's attempt at being chuck jones

Just because you have garbage taste doesn't mean Dewd still isn't being derivative as hell. And yes, everyone gets inspired, nothing is new under the sun etc etc but for fuck's sake you don't get that Dewd doesn't TRY. He doesn't CARE. He'll NEVER grow out of the box he's placed himself in, so he's never going to be anything but derivative.

>tfw can't decide on a single protagonist or a group of five
The reasoning is that while I've taken great care into crafting the five, they act as a unit, and thus I keep wondering if having just one would be easier to write. And I already have a basic outline of events.

The initial solution was to have each party member have a solo chapter to themselves, but this would be splitting the party, and they're supposed to be smarter than that.

Now, I'm one of those assholes who strives for a string supporting cast, so one of the obvious advantages of a single protagonist is that said supporting characters get more of a chance to do things. The issue here is that the current single protag concept is somewhat unsatisfying, and I want to avoid a boring lead like the plague.

TL;DR: Any advice on how to keep a lone hero and a five member party from being interchangeable?
>>

can't speak for the guy but i'm pretty sure he's not being derivative out of laziness, like "well i COULD make something new buuut this is easier". among other things he knows he's gonna get shit for it.
he's being derivative out of love for various media. I can tell you straight up the only reason I create is to make more of the stuff I like, and when I was younger the shit was straight up ripoffs. Are you gonna tell me you didn't go through that phase too? and don't say "and some guy set me straight by getting up my ass", he did not. you just got more original over time naturally.
>>
>>84098314
good afternoon, Wander
>>
>>84099255
Check out Endtown. The character interaction is what makes the comic so great to read, aside from the setting and good art. There are no "main protagonists" but "spotlight characters" within each arc. Maybe you can try something like that. It would allow you to be interchangeable and focus on each characters as they deal with their own struggles.
>>
>>84099255
Why not just start with one and then introduce the others as part of the main cast over time?

Then write it so splitting up is an actual good idea, or at least preferable to the alternative. If there's a nuke and a hell gate happening at the same time, you have to split up to deal with both.

Or instead of having a "solo" chapter, just vary who's in the spotlight/who's the viewpoint character.
>>
>>84099502
or what if the comic follows each of their separate adventures before they meet up. I've always wanted to do that but I neglected to.
>>
>>84099360
>Check out Endtown. The character interaction is what makes the comic so great to read, aside from the setting and good art.
Yeah, that sounds about right, actually. Gotta focus on the interaction. A bit of group conflict here and there. Thanks.

>>84099502
>Then write it so splitting up is an actual good idea, or at least preferable to the alternative.
Well, the idea is that they split up to obtain some vital resources. They spend most of the story essentially level grinding, and they're on a bit of a time crunch. So I think I'm good there.
>>

>Hiding behind a spoiler
Coward, be proud of your work! That said, it's really boring looking.
>>
>>84099255
Design five such that any given pair or trio works as a set of foils. Instead of solo chapters, have duo/trio chapters. Establish not just your characters, but how they relate to each other. Also duos/trios aren't a stupid way to split and re-configuring the party can keep things fresh for more than five chapters.

I'm thinking of drawing/shading/writing my comics purely in pencil.

I need a new scanner since mine crapped out months ago and I'm thinking of getting a canson soon.

Any advice on how to properly polish them after scanning?

And also if the idea of a pure pencil comic is good. I'm not Adam Warren, but still I'd like to know what you think.

Pic is the last things I scanned.
