She's been marketed to preschoolers aggressively as a "normal" Disney Princess, meaning assumed straight, for half a decade by the time the sequel rolls around, pulling the rug from under the feet of Disney's most lucrative core audience like that is a disastrous fucking idea. Also the movie would be near-impossible to distribute internationally.
Also, Elsa's been holding hands and staring lovingly into the eyes of her sister etc in a great deal of the merch. It's fine and safe as long as they're both straight and get with male love interests, and the main point of the first movie that the family love (not romantic love) is also very true and strong and it's what saved the day, so obviously the familial love between the sisters features heavily in the merch.
But if they'd turn Elsa gay, and she's been acting that loving around a woman who happens to be her sister, showing no interest in anyone else - it'd just be wayyyyy too suspicious, everyone would pick up on how strange it would be for her to be that badly all over her sister if she's interested in women, and there is absolutely no way in hell the Disney "reliable family values" studios would present lesbian sibling incest as a positive thing in one of their films directed at preschoolers.

I first visited /frz/ when Frac released the last chapter before the hiatus. Everyone went crazy about this fic, so I decided to read it. I had no idea what it was about and expected smut.
