This is making me realize most sentai/PR suits are impossible to grim-gritty reboot without looking ridiculous. There's just not enough to go on when most of them are just very colorful spandex. Result: they went with this very modern sci-fi look but kept the original helmets and bright color schemes, and the result looks absolutely ridiculous. Kamen Rider suits, in comparison, were way easier to modernize, and The First/Next's suits were goddamn stellar (the movies in general, though, not really)

I liked the Stallone version, not as much as the real Dredd film, but it had a lot of nice aspects. He kept that 90s outrageous edge to it that the comics had. It had the huge violence, the catchphrases centered around killing people, and it had the bloodline thing going for it.
No actor besides based Karl Urban would ever agree to wear a helmet like Dredd's for the entire film. It's one of the reasons JLaw refused to wear the Mystique body paint, because if the movie is great they want their face always remembered in that film, and if it is bad then their face might draw people to it and make it a financial success.

He literally stabs a guy in his heart, shoots his grappling hook through a guy and then uses it to blow up another guy's flame thrower canister to cause a huge explosion. He out and out kills people CONSTANTLY rather than as last ditch resorts or accidents due to something else. Batman in BvS is starting at "Murder is okay for a plan A".
The stupid thing that I just don't understand is the fact that they went with DKR to START their movie universe. They went "Oh I know, begin our brand new DC movie universe with an elseworld story that has Batman as a rundown old man at the end of his line," and "lets have him start at "killing is okay" rather than have the character be anti-killing at the start to allow him to progress and perhaps have a moral dilemma about killing someone too strong to keep in jail". The movie was pants on head retarded because it is based on the DC heroes who have the belief that once you cross that line of "Kill instead of capture" it is almost impossible to come back from it, to the point that writers have had to pull very large plot twists our of their asses to make it so that Superman or Batman didn't actually kill someone. That is the huge barrier between Superman and Batman's perspective versus Wonder Woman's ideology. Superman believes in inspiring people, Batman believes in fear tactics, and Wonder Woman believes in loving everyone BUT killing those who are 'monsters'. This is the dynamic that causes a lot of conflict between the three in a good way, and they undercut the entire thing by having Batman murdering people and Superman perfectly fine with the concept of people dying or being killed by him.
