I keep forgetting that Frank is the ultimate comic book Chad. Did Frank even go to school? Everything about him seems to begin during his late adult years.

Even though Ennis' run was the best, overall Punisher was better before Ennis than after Ennis.
>>84010986
>>84009809
He was shown going to extracurricular poetry classes as a boy in The Tyger, but that was MAX.

Yeah, Pre-Ennis is really underrated, I've had one anon call "the bad old days." Few meet the character's "true" potential, but some shine as great action yarns and some show some solid insight into Frank and the character's around him.

Since Ennis left basically no one knows how to write the character.
>>84012162
Where would you say each more recent writers went wrong? I had high hopes for Edmonson with his hard on for military affairs, but his run was mediocre.
>>84012611
They need to return to Punisher being an antihero. Ennis made him a broken man and arguable psycho, but everyone overlooks that he never stopped being a badass motherfucker. Everyone since then has just hammered us over the head with "ISN'T THE PUNISHER CRAZY?!" He may have started as a villain, but he became popular once he was given the antihero treatment. They need to restore that.

poor Frank
>>84013233
It's a real problem that people think that crazy and heroic are mutually exclusive.
Some (honestly, most) of my favorite superheroes are as crazy as fuck.
I recommended this in a Punisher thread earlier today, glad to see it story timed. One of my all time favorites, the way the death of Frank's family is illustrated, the reveal of the Iron Man armor as the secret weapon, the shift to the reporters POV when there's some serious franking going on. Deserves to be read by more people, thanks OP
>>84019817
Yeah, there's no reason why the Ennis treatment can't be combined with the 80s treatment. You SHOULD be rooting FOR The Punisher if the story is really well done.
Thanks, OP.
Does anyone else find it weird that there's a surprising amount of waifu bait in Punisher comics?
>>84024600
There's waifu bait in everything. Especially 90s comics.
Bumpisher
>>84024766
You'd expect to not see that in The Punisher though. Especially since the waifus are all mafia daughters and vigilantes and shit, which is kinda weird. Waifus are usually less intimidating.
This is relevant to my interests.
bumping to read.
>>84009654
I love it when Frank shows his sense of humour.
>>84010843
... Was not expecting that one.
>>84029733
It'll never stop being weird when they mix Marvel superhero shit in with The Punisher.
>>84029321
Black humor is a surprisingly nice fit for The Punisher comics.
>>84009809
He actually was a former catholic seminary student, and never big on sports growing up.
He didn't go chad until the Marine Corps, which, is the chaddiest branch of the US armed forces. Possibly by design.
>>84012611
The idea of Punisher vs the modern Howling comanndos was fucking awesome.
The part about fucking with the cartels was passable, but predictable.
The part of Punisher in Washington DC fucking with politicians and Captain Falcon was fucking stupid.
I remember a bit of him on a team book, with the Thunderbolts that worked better than expected, but nothing really memorable.
Well, this was a fun read. Good on you, OP.
>>84009591
R.I.P. CJ Henderson, he was pretty awesome and didn't write nearly enough comics.
You may be familiar with his daughter, Erica Henderson...
>>84033818
get the fuck outta here
is that true
>>84033873
Would I lie to you, Anon? Her artwork in this book is actually really good, it fits her art style well.
>>84034038
No it's not. She doesn't have a "style". She just can't draw.
bumping for others.
>>84034101
You don't have to like her art, but that statement is absurd. Even Chris-Chan has a style.
