It's definitely worth reading. RID/Transformers is a solid book with a couple of missteps now and then; MTMTE is genuinely fantastic for the first season, and people are mostly disappointed in the second season because we know how good the author CAN be. It still ranges from decent to great.
What else, uh... Windblade vol 1 is pretty good and vol 2 is a shitpile, both of the ___ of the Wreckers series are great, never read Empire of Stone, the "-ations" series, or anything else by Shane McCarthy/Mike Costa... I think that's a decent summary.

What's the issue?
The idea that Hasbro will step in and say "these comics aren't profitable enough, time to reboot them" is FUCKING RETARDED because Hasbro aren't the ones who make a profit from the comics. That would be IDW. When you see the comics mirroring Hasbro's plans it's because the guys at IDW know that synergizing with that shit will make THEM more money.
Back in 2009 when the old ongoing launched it used Bayverse designs because the creative team, particularly Don Figuroa, wanted to do it that way. IDW editorial was okay with it because they hoped it would attract some of the much larger movie audience. When the movie audience wasn't fooled, and when Figuroa became unavailable and the other artists couldn't hack that style, IDW let them draw whatever.
