Nobody expected Mayhem of the Music Meister to be even half as good as it turned out to be, I remember /co/ exploding when that episode aired as a result. One of the most consistent things in SU is its musical score, and there have been some really great songs, so I think it's doable.

And there have been shows like Samurai Jack that were also heavily storyboard driven and 22 minutes long and vice versa. Episode length has no bearings on either process since timing is plotted out by page length - one page = one minute for screenplays, and roughly 10-20 panels per minute for storyboards, give or take a few scenes that require more.
The real difference between script-driven and board-driven is what they're timing out. Scripts, being naturally wordy, are good for working out the comedic or dramatic beats/rhythm to dialogue and basic actions that get things from point A to point B. Storyboards, being heavily visual work best for plotting out very movement or choreography-heavy sequences like fight scenes, music numbers, visual-based comedy/drama. None of those things have anything to do with episode length, and it's more likely that the reason shows like GF uses scripts compared to shows like AT have more to do with tone since GF is more structured and has a lot more comedy that's reliant of dialogue delivery compared to AT, which has always been very loose about its story structure.
Hell, if anything Steven Universe might actually benefit from having a little more of a script considering the majority of the focus is on slice-of-life activities with only occasionally action heavy scenes.

That's why I specified that many of them are relatively new to the industry. Most of the people listed only started working in it around 2012, and many of them have stayed within the Cartoon Network circle for the most part. Compared to some of the other artists who have been in the industry for decades and considering that the artistic process for any given individual or show is often subjective, 4 years isn't really that much experience.
Even if you like all those artists, it's still better to look into the shit they're saying yourself rather than just taking their statements at face value.
