for the sort of magic i think your after i would recommend zatanna.
magic in general hellblazer is pretty great just stay about from his new 52 series and you may want to get a few arcs of his original series read before reading his dcyou series (although it certainty works fine for new readers as well)
ultimately though most of the more direct magic in comics comes from the villans.
justice league dark was pretty meh and most will say it was outright crap.
demon knights has a fair bit of magic in it.
captain marvel (the dc one) is magical in nature and can do a few spell type things
