Is this supposed to be some meta shit, that because she's the protagonist in her own comic book she'll never get dead this early from the shit she does? She jumped from an helicopter and faceplanted a thick bullet-proof window for God sake, she seems pretty resilient for a normal human bean from our world.
Not to mention being able to hold her own against armed Hydra folk and giant killer robots with the only training under her belt being a few youtube videos on swordfighting she completely glossed over in favor of making explosives.

Gwenpool has none of that shit yet doesn't fall behind, it feels kinda undeserving considering characters normally go through a ton of shit, backstory wise, to get to where they are.

This is not what happens. Everyone treats her as a fucking psycho, she has no combat abilities outside big guns and she deals only with absolute nobodies while pressed into service for MODOK.

Nothing here goes the was Gwen wants it to go and she keeps fucking up. She assumes to have the plot armor of a big name when she has a completely different situation. And she forgets the author's intention in writing her book. Because she blindly assumes the author to have intentions he clearly doesn't have and forgets about him knowing all about her by default.
She is very clearly not a self-insert. The author does not even identify with her but tries to beat her into submission.
You know what they say. If you can't make an interesting, engaging character with a good background story, solid motivation and a worthwhile personality, just make a female version of an existing character and make her cute.

It is very funny. I have never laughed at a comic before but I did laugh here. The main character is likable. She's quirky but not enough to be annoying. She's on the verge of memeposting, but she isn't. Just a funny shitposter in this world.
You can tell by the end of issue one that it will be more than just comedy too. Dramatic stuff happen a deal if with the fact that the marvel universe is not Gwens plaything as she thinks it is.
