I just find it weird how Zootopia made over $1b at the box office and yet there's so little merchandising for it compared to other Disney movies. I think Disney was expecting it to only do so-so and were putting all their money on Finding Dory and Moana.
I think Moana is going to (hopefully) be good but I'm really not all that excited about Finding Dory. I didn't even bother watching Finding Nemo more than once. It was an alright movie but it really didn't leave an impression on me. I'm pretty sure Disney is in another Lion King situation where the movie they weren't expecting much from turned out to be the big winner, moreso than the movies that they were betting all the marketing money on (which in the Lion King's case was Pocahontas).

I actually liked the Kung Fu Panda TV show. It had problems but I thought that it was good in a lot of ways that the movies never really lived up to their potential. It played to the strengths of the TV medium even if you could see their budgeted use of CG animation getting stretched thin in a lot of places (and some of the stories were pretty stupid, but there were a lot of good ones too).
I think the best way to avoid KFP's problems would be to 1) use 2D animation rather than trying to re-create the look of the movie, and 2) get some of the movie people involved to make sure it doesn't stray into "bad kids' show writing" territory, as well as making sure that it doesn't go face first into continuity problems with upcoming movies.
It'd be great to see the other cops in Nick and Judy's precinct get fleshed out into full characters, and I'm sure the writers would have a ball with that. There are lots of places you could go with an episodic format that a movie just plain wouldn't be able to devote time to, it'd be a shame if they didn't at least test the waters for a TV show.
>>83896379
the only tv show that's coming soon is the big hero six series made by these guy who made kim possible.

"It wasn't me" could be a reference to the line "I didn't lie to you, he did!" or maybe it's just a common phrase for mischievous little shits. It makes more sense than "the fox has arrived." I just think they hired the dumbest fashion people to sell to the dumbest people. Kind of grasping at straws there. It would be interesting if that's really what happened and they jumped the gun with marketing by at least a year.

>>83897539

So you're saying that people who sexualize the more animal anatomy accurate characters in zootopia are worse than furries?

>>83897731
You're doing rather well if that's the only scene that got to you.
Can a fox have babbies with a rabbit?
They are good at multiplying after all.
>>83896589
"protect the herd" gives it away, not a dumbest monkey could came up with it on its own, there is no "herd" on any merchandise, just one scaredy sheep.
>>83897856
Multiplication has its limits. Maybe Judy, being rather impure, will attempt it, but I don't think that she'll have any success.
>>83897856
If they ever addressed that in canon, I think they'd go with "No". The film's about prejudice in general rather than forcing every point to be a direct comparison to racial prejudice, so rather than have a mixed-race couple analogy they could do the homophobia analogy; unnatural relationship, not going to produce any kids, etc.
You'd think rabbits would be OK with that (I mean, as long as you're not dating a predator, seriously, have some standards for yourself). Overpopulation and sexual freedom are directly correlated. Elephants and other slow-breeding animals might be more conservative. Pandas... better off not even asking.
>>83897856
The obvious answer would be no, given that they're different species. It would be like a horse breeding with a human. Judy might be able to breed with a Pika, possibly with some scientific intervention, but not with a canine sub-species.

This is still the realistic and best way for the sequel without complicating their relationship.
>>83899482
Ah, fair enough. Trying to do a pair of wine glasses and some fluid for another scene today, but the fluid bit is pretty difficult since I've never done it before.
What's the Maya stuff? Work/study related?
>>83899618
I do agree with you that shenanigans are good, but I think it's possible to subtly do the relationship thing while keeping true to the entertaining nature of the show. If they decide to not explore a relationship, I honestly wouldn't care tbqh
>>83899723
Yes, it's study related. I force myself to dedicate a certain time a day to it, and I often go over that by an hour or 2. I plan to work on the scene some time today. It's probably not going to be extremely impressive or anything like that, but I didn't give up on it.
>>83899776
>I think it's possible to subtly do the relationship thing while keeping true to the entertaining nature of the show
That "You know you love me" scene was already subtle enough, might as well go for the same approach in the sequel since ambiguity is always the safest approach for both sides.
>>83899821
Maybe just constantly tease or hint at a relationship in the sequel?
I mean, they don't honestly have to satisfy all the WildeHopps shippers, but they don't have to keep their relationship at a friend level
>>83899917
It's a really fine line, if they want their relationship to be more than friends then it must be done precisely right.
Anything more would just feel forced.
>>83899946
It would be a fine line to walk, but given how they handle the whole bias theme within the film, I'm sure they could handle a few bits and hints regarding their relationship
>>83899776
'Extremely impressive' is relative, so look forward to it whenever it's done.

Judy goes missing, it's up to Nick to find her.
He starts looking for clues in her apartment...
maybe he'll find something important in Judy's computer.
It's password protected, after pondering for a whole 30 seconds he tries the first word that comes to his mind "carrot". It actually works !

You need more offsetting. If I looked at your graph editor, I can tell I'd see plenty of unedited curves, and the dope sheet would look like columns of keys. >Worldwide: $1,011,369,512
Less than $10M to go until passing Hobbit for 24th place. Probably doable with some Japanese momentum.
>>83897591
I'd call the build most of the animals in Zootopia has "semi-feral". They could reasonably fall down on all fours and walk that way, and several do throughout the movie. Their build is essentially that of an animal that stood up on its hindpaws and (in most cases) went from digitigrade to plantigrade.

If you passed algebra, it should be relatively easy to understand. Basically, the keys control the value of whatever you're animating. The curves, interpolation, tell how fast it happens, and that's truly where your time spent animating will be. to see it in action, move a cube from point a to point b, and then play with the rotation of the bezier curve handles. You're going to love it.

Not that anon, but I learned blender solely on free YT videos. LittleGuy CGI, BlenderGuru, Gleb Alexandrov (advanced), and searching up "How do dis_" is enough to learn it. nu-uh, something in return!
>>83904043
A (possibly handwritten) note of thanks and the warm, fuzzy feeling that you made another anon happy.
>>83904073
i'd rather have that finnick plush, thanks.
>>83902625
Naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.
Assuming they both play vidya, what are Nick and Judy's IGNs?
>>83904261
We're really out of things to talk about, aren't we
>>83904329
nick's ass can carry only so many conversations
>>83904261
Nick's would be something random like most of our usernames, so no clue there.
Judy is a bit of a normie (I don't really know of any other word to describe it, which it rather depressing) so something like JHopps92.
>>83904329
Don't take one post to be an example...
>>83904329
i agree.
unless something groundbreaking happens, we're out.
>>83904329
Yeah, things are getting sparse.
More and more reason to stop having these threads soon, less we become autistic r9k style posters.

Fucks sake, I finally enjoy something and its fandom dies.
>>83904492
you're like 3 months late, anon.
>>83904492
Ignore that anon, we'll be going for a while yet. We've been at this pace for about a month and a half now and the discussion is still fine.
>>83904492
It's not dead, it's just leaving /co/ until new official content/news shows up.
You can still take part in the fandom on tumblr, God knows it's one of the few things tumblr is good for.

>it's just leaving /co/ until new official content/news shows up
I remember seeing this posted weeks ago and we're still here.
>>83902489
Is it wrong that I really want that van?
>>83904814

>>83904698
but this time we have something new to bashdory
Since iv seen it belleweather strongly reminds me of Villan from Bioshock 2
>>83905065
I didn't play Bioshock 2.
I don't think anyone did.
Nothing Personal Kid.
>>83905055
No clue if it's any good. Don't suppose it needs to since 90% are probably seeing it for nostalgia anyway
>>83905065
I thought the same thing anon
If belleweather was a straight up bitch instead of hiding it she would be 100% Sophia lamb

Hey guys, were there any primates in Zootopia?
I just watched it for the first time recently and I didn't see a single ape. Does that seem weird?
>>83905172
Who do you think would be Eleanor?
>>83905188
For (You)
>>83905188
No. The official reason is that it would detract from the story, but in actuality evolved apes are kept in underground caves as food for preds.
>>83905227
oh, Byron.. you and your edgyness.
>>83905227
Well I question since obviously there's an alternate evolutionary line. And since primates are so close to humans, it might be related.
Like in this universe primates were killed off or never rose to prominence after the dinosaurs which meant that other species eventually evolved and became the dominant species. Alternatively it could be a vision of the future, the result of some kind of targeted genetic weapon which ended man kind and also it's closest evolutionary relatives, ei primates. Add a few million years of evolution and a few thousand years of culture and boom! Zootopia.
>Zoo2pia opens
>over-the-shoulder shot of a door
>door opens. It's Judy, munching on a carrot.
