>Works as a newspaper reporter so that he can hear about disasters as soon as possible

So are they gonna change this now that print media is a dying industry and he would be much better served just by monitoring the internet/Twitter?
>>

>>
>>83883884
You joke, but having a hashtag especially for emergencies that Superman would watch for isn't a terrible idea.
>>
They have. Pretty sure the Daily Planet and whatever company Cat started up is TV/internet based in the New 52.
>>
He should just work for a television station.
>>
Why would they need to change it? Print media is ending in the sense that many places are just shutting down their circulation and going full online but reporters still exist to write those online articles.
>>
>>83883912
>#INeedAHero
>>
I just took it that Clark worked in a general media outlet. I mean, Clark's articles could be posted both online and on the newspaper.

Like, Clark and Lois might write articles now and then, but Lois is most known for being a TV reporter.

The problem is that when Superman was first created, being a reporter was a legitimately dangerous profession. Big business and corrupt politicians didn't want the media snooping around and would often resort to threats, or even murder to keep the muckrakers out of their business. Even in Superman comics today, Lois and Clark getting into trouble in their dogged pursuit of the truth is a huge trope. So making Clark a blogger doesn't really translate properly.

It's not as though newspapers don't exist today, so I'm honestly fine with keeping Lois and Clark as newspaper reporters and handwaving the whole thing.
>>
If you actually read any comics you'd know Clark hasn't worked for the Planet in like five years, he's a freelance writer with a website.

And newspapers are still a pretty big deal.
>>

You guys do know that there are badass pages to follow on Facebook called Superman, Champion of the Oppressed and Satan that are pretty much exactly what it would be like if Clark and Superman used soc media? There's Lois and Luthor pages that are run by the same people I think. Come on /co/ you aren't still thinking of comics as the only medium for superhero stories are you?

Dudes, it's been ages since Clark Kent worked as a reporter in order to hear about disasters as soon as possible. He has bullshit super hearing and who knows what sort of surveillance equipment at the fortress. Acting as a reporter would be the least efficient way of doing that.

He works as a reporter because he wants to be a reporter. It's another way of helping people.

Not just hearing about disasters like an earthquake or African genocide.
Sometimes you need old fashioned investigative journalism to get to the bottom of things. An expose on a corrupt company bribing politicians to dump waste in the river, for example, can be better for solving problems in the long term. Then you have the public and the court of law actively putting away these guys, which both has potential for lasting longer than just punching them, and also teaches Metropolis that they don't need an alien god to solve their problems.

That said, are there any good Superman stories that play up his role as an investigative reporter?

No shit it was gonna get bombed eventually, it was built with that contingency in mind since it's better they strike at a line of defense than get through and blow up more citizens. It's not only been immensely successful but now they're going to build an UNDERGROUND wall to thwart Hamas tunnels.

Are there any stories about Clark working for another news agency thst turns out to be a bunch of fear mongering corrupt shit that outright lie for views?

Seems like that would be an interesting thing for superman to tackle since it's not technically a crime, jusy shitty. I figure it'd resolve itself with him subtly throwing a bone of truth here and there to offset stuff or having superman show up with a tape of incriminating shit. So basically something he'd use his smarts for instead of punching.
