Rebirth #1 Sells 215,000 copies
Civil War II #0 sells 175,000

Is DC saved?

Marvel still made more money with Civil War II #0 DCuck, but flaunt some more. Maybe you'll think Rebirth was actually a success :^)

DC only "won" this month through the same tactics that Marvel itself abuses by printing so many big events and #1 relaunches and renumberings of series.

And I say that as someone who's really enjoying DC Rebirth so far. But let's face it, if they tried to quietly do this within individual series without renumbering series or launching a big 80-page event issue, it'd get bupkiss back.

Rebirth is still the best selling comic DC has had in recent memory. Even New 52 Batman #1 only sold 188,000
>>
>>83774346
>Black Panther sold more than fucking Batman
feels good.
>>
>>83774361
Too bad it won't last. :^)
>>
>>83774361

Black Panther 2 was cut down by 2/3rds already.

Batman never dipped below 100,000

Even the issues Snyder didn't write sold above 100,000.
>>
>>83774279
are you implying Civil War 2 was anything other than a financial success?
>>
>>83774361
Keep in mind Rocket Raccoon opened with big numbers and now it is selling like shit.

It's the fate of all Marvel titles.

Is it wrong that I like both companies and want them both to succeed?
>>
>>83774361
>not knowing how the market works

normie detected, get out
>>
>>83774574
Yep, it's definitely fucking wrong.

Pick a side already, faggot.
>>
>>83774574

Nope, but I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't more interested in what DC is doing right now in terms of Rebirth.
>>
>>83774574
No, but bad stories like CW2 selling well is worse for future output because it encourages more bad stories.

If it was Vision on top no one would mind.
>>
>>83774535

Actually issue 2

>77,654

Almost exactly a 3rd of the sales issue 1 had.

Compared to Batman number 2, which moved down to 172,428 issues.

Batman also didn't rely on cheap ordering tactics like holding variants hostage.

How come the Vision did so badly?
>>
>>83774617
Didn't it move slightly up from last month?
>>
>fighting over scraps
>winning
>>
>>83774574

Not really but company wars shitposting can still be fun.
>>
>>83774361
>sold more

Not exactly.

In fact, it's actually funny when you put it your way. It just shows the anti-DC bias that most shops have: they'll *massively* over-order Marvel #1s and then order more accurately for the very next issue. On the other hand, even with a big name series and/or a big name event, shops will only order exactly as many DC copies as they expect to sell in 1-2 weeks -- and sometimes (as is with Rebirth now) the shops will underestimate the popularity.

>Is DC saved?
as long they stop making movies, yes.
>>
>>83774574
Not all, but sanity doesn't generate replies.
I admit I love seeing DC on top for once, though. I think Marvel will continue to dominate, but I can see DC doing really well with Rebirth. The writers involved are good and have been good since before Rebirth, but now people are noticing it.
>>
>>83774617
We all knew it'd do poorly. Be thankful it's going to finish its arc at #12. We'll get a good story out of it, regardless of how it sells.
>>
Will Rebirth #1 be worth as much as people expect or will it barely be worth anything in decades to come? I'm guessing it's how well the new universe.
>>
>>83774694

I remember the big marketing push behind the New 52 was what got me to hop on board with following ongoing series monthly rather than just reading older trades and OGNs. It was a shame looking back now that so much legacy and history of the DCU was sacrificed to drive it, so it's interesting to see similar hype crop up, but around the reverse with reincorporating that legacy back into the DCU.
>>
>>83774688
shops only over order because Marvel does a lot of Incentive Variants.

Because no one ever buys good media for some god awful reason
>>
>>83774751

Old comics are worth a lot just because not a lot of them have survived to today, even fewer in good condition.

Something catastrophic would have to happen, and decades and decades to pass before the huge glut of supply from DC's printing wears itself out enough to drive the price up.
>>
>>83774804
It doesn't have to be super old to make money. New 52 Batman #1 is pretty pricey.
>>
>>83774853
>>83774804

There are some pretty expensive variant covers too.

One of the first printing Gwenpool covers is already hanging up for around $100 at one of my LCS. Forget which one.
>>
>>83774574
I like both companies too but some of Marvel's writers are so god damned insufferable that I'm actually enjoying DC actually getting some love and attention right now.
