I liked Abandoned By Disney, honestly. Maybe it was just because of how vivid and surreal the setting was; an abandoned palace that's been overtaken by a tropical rainforest.

You faggots weren't on /x/ when creepypasta was our thing. Lost episode pastas were cliche, but when there still weren't many of them they were more interesting than scary. It was about the "what if", just like most of /x/ was until people started taking shit seriously. And those saying creepypasta in general is shit just demonstrate how garbage both this place and internet culture in general have become over the past few years. Fuck the creepypasta wiki. That's not what creepypasta was.

The only thing that kills it is that it locked their TVs to the channel. If it was just a horrifying channel and people switched away from it but some stayed and got the full experience then it would be fine.

It sort of is, but I liked the ambiguity of the story and the fact that it doesn't resort to the usual cliches that you see prevalent in other creepypastas.

The gore stuff mentioned in it is actually plausible based on Family Guy episodes and not the kind of thing that people keep copying from Squidward's Suicide or Dead Bart.

Well you aren't going to find much of those. The only one I can think of that I enjoyed was 1998. It's about a kid who watches a TV channel that only runs kid shows but it's being run by a child abductor in a bear suit. It has hand puppets in it and since puppets are considered /co/ I guess it should be fine to mention.

The big problem with creepypasta is that it's become the realm of teenagers and preteens, and teenagers are naturally fucking retarded since the brain doesn't really work right until early to mid 20's or so. I think that creepypasta has replaced sitting around the campfire, telling stories and reading from scary story books as the sort of mid-horror, not full-blast adult terror but not childish fears like thunderclaps, the middling spooky experience for a lot of kids. They still want that, scary campfire stories and all that bullshit, but they're all stuck to their fucking ipads so they do it online instead. Which means the creepypasta wiki is just flooded, absolutely flooded with underage shitters. As soon as creepypasta moved off 4chan (which has a sizable underage population but is at least actively hostile towards it) and became available to the more tolerant internet at large, it was inevitable.

>Penpal is a 2012 self-published horror thriller novel and the debut novel of American author Dathan Auerbach. The work was first published in paperback on July 11, 2012 through 1000Vultures and is based on a series of popular creepypasta stories that Auerbach posted to Reddit.[1] The book follows an unnamed protagonist that finds himself the focus of an obsessed stalker who tracks him throughout his childhood.

Preach my brother! I browsed /x/ back in 2008. People back then liked a good spook but recognized it was all silly fun.

I don't remember many lost episode pastas from the old days, unless we count unreleased audio and videos as lost episodes.

>>83786024
We can claim that stuff like Dolls or The Russian Sleep Experiment weren't really that good
(and of course we had the memes like Jeff the Killer and the fucking Grifter.), but there was a lot of genuine effort in some pastas, and many in fact aged like wine.

The main articles of the holders lose their charm after the first 20. And there's almost 1000. Save for a couple very memorable ones, the articles are subpar.

The Holder's trade was tales. Back when the community was alive they had one or two dudes writing some good stuff with the lore the Holders had.

Ben Drowned was always kind of retarded, it was just technically impressive because he went in and fucked around with the game files. usually you just had screenshots someone edited blood on Sonic's eyes or something but he put actual effort into it. hey didn't he try to turn it into an ARG and revealed Ben was actually Majora and wanted to crash the moon into the Earth on 12/12/2012? or did i just dream that?

I'd say that The Princess is a pretty good video-game related creepypasta

http://ifyouseeherturnoffthegame.blogspot.com/2011/12/part-0-opening.html

I think someone remarked before that a large amount of the effect comes from the author's familiarity and realistic description of a glitchhunting community. Horror tends to work best when it's a small but unignorible anomaly in an otherwise normal world.

The problem with these video game pastas is that the mental picture they paint is often completely inconsistent from just basic knowledge. For instance, at the beginning he makes a big deal out of the girl's hair and dress not waving in the wind in ocarina of time, despite the fact that things waving in the wind would be uncommon in that era and not at all expected. It might well be a part of OoT on certain characters, I can't remember, but it wouldn't be noticeable if it wasn't there. Or more jarringly when he mentioned that 'something seemed off' about kokiri town, before he eventually realized that they're all in fucking T-poses, which you'd think would be pretty goddamn obvious.

Also the fact that memories of video games past are more likely to make you happy or laugh than to actually scare you. It's impossible to find Sonic.exe scary when you imagine Robotnik shouting PINGAS as he's running through the game. It's also impossible because the writing is so fucking awful, but that's another story.

>>
A lot of the older creepastas were fine, but they all suffer the same fucking fate like slenderman, and even "Jeff the killer". They started out as just images. That's all the creator intended them to be, 2 sppoky images that were scary, same with some original creepypastas, then come along a whole bunch of underage kids that decide that this random image or story needs SOOOO much more lore and world-building, needs more OC's, needs more bullied children who murdered their parents and are actually the good guys or some shit and turn 2spoopy stories or random spoopy images into something with fucking thousands of pages of fanfiction.

My favorite part of Godzilla NES was how the main character didn't act like a retard like the mains of Sonic.exe or Blood Whistle, he was fascinated and psyched to play this crazy hack full of obscure Godzilla kaiju. But yeah, the ending really didn't do it any favors.
>>
>>83788960
>he was fascinated and psyched to play this crazy hack full of obscure Godzilla kaiju
that's exactly it, he was excited to play it, and that's what made it cool to read, especially since i had played the game, it made it relatable.
Then his dead girlfriends soul came out or some shit
Pretty much when it stopped being about Godzilla is when it got boring,

Did you not read The Just?

>>83788663
Batman, Inc. towards the end takes on a really spiteful tone and has some questionable things to imply about family. Multiversity can be interpreted in a way completely opposite of how it's supposed to be without any questionable assumptions. His Action Comics run is basically him bitching about his job. Going back a bit, The Invisibles has an implication towards the end that the good guys and bad guys are the same thing, just from a different perspective. Doom Patrol can be interpreted as the delusions of a mentally ill woman who kills herself at the end. Animal Man explicitly states that God is evil and will torment you if he thinks it's entertaining and be really smug about it. In general he either has a sexual corruption fetish or a strong sex-negative belief, Seven Soldiers is full of it and it shows up in Doom Patrol.

For something really interesting, read Final Crisis, Action Comics 9 but skip the backup, Multiversity, then the Sholly Fisch backup to AC 9.
>>

The thing with Crappypastas Expecially lost episodes and video game ones. Is that they always try to hard.
Finding a creepy game, can be all that is needed. Just report the creepy shit in the game. It doesn't need a climactic ending. I mean look at the Godzilla crappypasta. The ending was fucking laughable, and would have been fine to just end it without the the dead girlfriend shit.
Also Godzilla replay is never going to get finished because the author is a lazy cunt.

And besides that everyone finds different things scary. Personally I find glitch noises, and errors way scarier than ultra blood and realistic eyes!
But idiots will find it scary, same way people think jeff the killer, a kid who's iconic image is a fat girl's suicide post on /b/ the scariest thing ever.
Want cringe? Go check out the FA of the sonic.exe creator.
>>
>>83789398
Oookay. I hope that's all.
>>
>>83781869
I think a better way to end that creepypasta would have been to explain that a part of the brain activates on lack of sleep turning people into ghouls. Maybe connect it to other mythology like vampires or something.
>>
>>83789107
I take the view both interpretations happen. Like for instance, the Doom Patrol ending. You could interpret the entire run as being all in Jane's head particularly if you're one of the Silver Age Doom Patrol purists who thought Morrison wrecked the character of The Chief, or if you feel it's a comment on how sometimes madness breeds better imagination and trying to quash it won't help. But I take the interpretation while that could happen on one world, it could also be that the Doom Patrol are real and it resolves Jane going missing since it's open to interpretation. In a way that's what could also be implied in Flex Mentallo too.

>Animal Man explicitly states that God is evil and will torment you if he thinks it's entertaining and be really smug about it.

But don't forget, it's not just him that would think it's entertaining. Remember that there's an implication of placing blame on the audience as well. And if you take the idea that God is being as evil and smug about tormenting someone as Morrison (or by extension, the audience) was toward Buddy, then you also take the idea that sometimes he fixes things and has downbeat moments.

I never heard about the Abandoned by Disney series before this topic but I read through the whole thing.

I think the most frightening thing about it is I bothered to do that at all. The suggestion cards one is kind of fun but most of it is just mediocre. That ending one where the guy straight up tells people to stop nitpicking his stories in the middle of the story is just dreadful.
>>
>>83779042

>They've been dead for years

No they weren't, they'd been alive in the coffin and the kid suffocated to death after killing the stalker. He'd only died recently. Which, of course, makes the ending even more bleak and depressing than it already is.

Any of you guys listen to Madame Macabre?

I swear, that woman has a tremendous talent for turning really shitty creepypasta and horror games into some pretty cool songs.

Best part is her lyrics are usually obscure enough you can just think of them as original most of the time, I recommend listening to at least a few of her songs. She even offers free download links to all of her songs as well as instrumental only for anyone who wants to make a cover, something I really fucking respect as most original song makers I've seen usually charge for downloads or just don't offer them at all.
