Shi'ar aren't the most competent lot. I bet the just grabbed the first phonebook, shot everyone named Grey, and called it a day. Didn't even realize that there might be other such "nomenclature volumes" in other parts of the country, let alone the world, or that some of the Grey's would have married or been adopted through any of a number of branches in the family tree.
