Oh, this was to weep:

>Big Bang Comics @TheBigBang_ 3h3 hours ago THUNDERBOLTS #2, 60% first week, with a few people emailing afterwards to cancel the standing order for it. Ok...
>>
>>83755486

>Palmer made his secret identity known when he abandoned civilization to join an alien race of miniature beings in the jungles of South America.

COMICS!

also the only good Atom story
>>

I never would have predicted Cap #1 not breaking 100k

Hello Storyteller.

>Flashback
No. Bad John. Bad.
>>
>>83755538
>>83755501
>Later when asked why Omega Men did not sell better, he replied “the crappy writing.” (His more serious answer cited the non-conventional cover art and his mistaken assumption that everyone would have read the 8 page preview before picking up the first issue)
>>
>>83755582
>WONDER WOMAN REBIRTH #1 did 800% more that pre-Rebirth numbers. Think that was Rucka and team's mike drop, so to speak.

at least they had good news too
>>
>>83755596
Well, with subsequent printings it technically will

Also I'm wondering how hard the FalCap book is going to drop now that everyone is only paying attention to Steve
>>
>>83755582
Also interesting:

>The trailers were out and we couldn't keep DEADPOOL books in stock. The movie came out and... no one cared any more?

Another retailer's said the same thing with Civil War--you have to get your tie-in/coattails shit in BEFORE the movie comes out, not after.

>>83755594
has that been digitaled yet?
>>
>>83755621
>AQUAMAN REBIRTH #1 sold out and you KNOW how hard that is for Aquaman. 400% more than pre-Rebirth numbers.

nice
>>
>>83755622
there will probably crossovers so they're forced to buy it
>>
>>83755605
Omega Men was pitched at a niche audience with both characters and theme, it would have had to be a breakout hit to sell well (it was never going to be a breakout hit).
>>
>>83755635
I'm hoping the Deadshot and Katana minis sell well in trades cause they were pretty good and I'd like them to get more attention
And the trades comes out like right around the movie
>>
>>83755635
I guess that makes sense. People who want to be knowledgeable before the movie comes out and all. Once you've seen it you don't always feel like you need more.
>>
>>83755501
Those sales seem low for Civil War, or am I being dumb?
>>
>>83755635
speaking of Civil War

>NEW AVENGERS #12, 61% first week. Turns out, it being a tie-in to CIVIL WAR 2 actually cost it readers this issue.

>Another retailer's said the same thing with Civil War--you have to get your tie-in/coattails shit in BEFORE the movie comes out, not after.
The Big Bang guy said that on a podcast, he said the Suicide Squad trades have been selling real well
>>
>>83755538
I am so fucking mad that my Vision Dog name didn't make the Vision Dog page.

0/10, will only buy one Omega Men
>>
>>83755622
The thing to look for is if it gets a bump, and if so how much, and then how much the dropoff is.
>>
>>83755635

Yes power of the atom

and Sword of the Atom (1983)
>>

I like this issue because it's the closest Boomer comes to being a sympathetic character.

I was lukewarm to FF5 until I did 4JF, but the game is SO well-balanced that I appreciate the hell out of it after last year's run. I beat Neo Exdeath with zero mages, by Chemist throwing level potions at a Monk with Rapid Fire (8x hits) and abusing the damage formula. IT'S SO GOOD

Captain Boomerang is natural psychopath, since free will cannot be excused for anything but outright coercion.

That said, his dad needlessly being an asshole to him did not help. He might've found a more constructive outlet for these tendencies with a more positive upbringing.

>>83755916
That's nice. Video games are more or less dead to me though.
>>
>>83756015
Well, depends on what you want to play and where. The nuPS4 is gonna cost the most, the old one might tier down. But PS4 is NOT backwards-compatible with PS3, so you may want to spreadsheet out what you wanna buy and go from there.

I miss when some superheroes had no secret identity.

Wally West being someone everyone knew was the Flash was another thing that made him really distinct compared to other heroes (especially Barry) and Johns inventing the One More Day reset button to get out of it stinks.

First time reading it but it's good (and kind of brutal) because:

1) It lets you see why Boomer considers himself a success
2) You can't help think that contextually - as pathetic as Boomer is - he kind of IS a success for his background

Just shit like his outfit originating here >>83756186 is goofy, but also really fraught with a horrible kind of small-town and family loyalty. It says a little bit that Boomer knows how much of a fuck-up he is, even though he never typically acts that out.

I think DC would be perfectly ok with A-listers hogging all the money

I mean even if double shipping dips sales per issue a lot they're making up for it by putting the product out more often, and even issues of Batman or Wonder Woman that are performing a little below expected are still going to outsell any given book with a C-lister

Out of curiosity, do you think it would be possible to write a story about a group of Jewish(and that's in the ethnic sense, not religious) mercenaries without getting hate for evoking the greedy Jew stereotype, even if the characters themselves are not particularly money-obsessed?

Problem is DC only knows what's good by listening to the critical community, and most of the critical community still mostly talk about the latest overhyped garbage, Marvel's crummy girl comics, and when they do talk DC's obscure titles it's for minority stuff like Midnighter, which deserves it, but other series do too.

My favorite run of the New 52 is Valentine's Catwoman and like fucking nobody cared about it and now she's not getting any of the attention she deserves for it. At least King hit it big with Grayson and Vision at the same time, but I don't hear anyone talk about Omega Men outside of this thread.

You'll get hate no matter what you do.

The trick is to write what you want and feel is right, and don't pay attention to complainers.

Though of course this has the unfortunate side effect of allowing people to write unintentionally offensive stuff without getting criticism, but I'd rather have good stuff AND bad stuff than nothing controversial at all.

We've had Gotham Central, I wanna see a book about Metropolis police. It'd be more like Robocop than GC's CSI, of course. But plenty of inter-office drama.

And where's the Jimmy Olsen getting into fucking insane situations book? It'd be neat to take the idea of the original book and apply it to the more realistic setting of the modern DCU.

Nobody's got a poker face like Floyd. Impossible to tell HOW much of a damn he cares about anything by looking at his face.

I think on some level though, he is an idealist, his rant at the end of William Hell Overture and his loyalty to Amanda shows that.

>>
>>83756930
It's a difficult line to walk. You have to ignore the Weekend Warriors that get pissed off at every minor thing they read and flame on twitter about it, but you have to acknowledge more constructive criticism too. The writers that seem to do it best are the ones that ignore social media for the most part and manage to keep their egos in check.

You gotta wait until #1 sales to say that cause #0s don't typically do as well as #1s
Some other event of marvel had a #0 issue and it sold less than the #1
>>

The simple answer is: They can't be the only jewish characters in the cast. Preferably, you don't also only have one jewish hero. It's like when you have one trans character and oops, they're the homicidal villain. You didn't mean to do that, exactly, but...

Ostrander's earned a lot of benefit of the doubt over the years, but I wouldn't give it to first time writers, especially ones who aren't jewish. Show me you got the chops, and if you get criticism, don't act like a putz. Just say you're listening, at the least, it goes a very long way.
>>
>>83756948
I always like it when they make foreign meta-human black ops teams, and don't just kill them off immediately.
One of the reasons I was interested in Spurriers X-Force was that it set the X-Force as the Mutant Mossad of sorts and had them dealing with other countries secret, meta-human teams.
>>83756950
I really like the idea of Kobra, but their aren't a lot of satisfying pay-offs with him are their?

You'll always either be called an SJW by /co/ or a racist by Twitter, there's no in-between. Those are useless terms so don't worry about people who use them.

There will be people who'd know what you're actually going for and praise or criticize you accordingly.

There's a lot of people who are more interested in posturing about the how much of a good person or red pilled person they are for reading or not reading a comic than actually reading the comic, so they're not your audience in the first place.
>>
>>83757249
I'd be happy to read something and edit for a little cash, although I'm probably a better non-fiction editor than fiction.

I am a queer living in a country and a state with rising reactionary violence and people calling for my marginalization and my death, as well as those very dear to me. It's rising in my state, and in others, and it's a very very real fear, this isn't abstracts we're talking about. Trans shit especially. Shit's bad out there.

I understand and appreciate what you're trying to get across here, but I've never seen this kinda "You had a bad day, take one down, sing a sad song" approach do me or anyone else in my kinda circumstances any good. Comes off condescending as hell, honestly.

Honestly I think the only real misteps they made with Tangent were the Justice League and Superman, and not just because Superman was Mark Millar.

Justice League failed in the basic premise of a universe that was intentionally distinct from the mainline, and Superman led to the dreadful Superman's Reign series that functionally wasted the entire universe.
