Up and died with no conclusion or word from author.

the applegeeks writer is part of the couple who does johnny wander

I'm like 90% sure the artist went on to do three panel soul
>>

wait no, I was thinking of mac hall, my bad

I have no idea what happened to the applegeeks artist
>>
Still so bitter over HINABN
I really loved the series and loved the art, and it was such a damn disappointment to find out what a twat the author was, such a bullshit thing to do the fandom and the publisher, and never one word of apology.
It sucks when people whose work you greatly admire turn out to be spineless douches
>>
Real Life. Haven't read it in years, went to go check on it recently and found out it hasn't updated since December, and there hasn't been a news update since April.
>>
Also, The Last Nerds on Earth was pretty nice, though it's a good example of why you shouldn't let your girlfriend be your artist unless you're 100^ positive you're going to marry her.
>>
>>83748074
I fucking loved that comic. There still hasn't been an apology after all these years?
>>
Mall Monkeys
>>
any webcomic that used sprites
>>
>>83748074
What happened with it?
>>
>>83748202
No, after playing dead for some years Stone just started a new project like nothing and is now gushing about how woooonderful her fans are omg thanks guys I love you all and your attention thanks for reading you're all fantastic, pls support me on patreon - similarly to how she acted about HINABN and it's fans before suddenly dropping off the face of the planet.
>>
Boxer Hockey. I haven't read it in a couple of years but I just found out it's been on hiatus for quite a while.

>>83748363
Wouldn't be surprised if it happens again.
>>
okay maybe one of you guys can answer me, what ever happen to Third Wish and Your Half?
>>
Under the category of "It's shit, but I love it", Lesbian Mystery Club.
Goddamn it, it stopped just when something interesting was about to happen.
>>
>>83748363
>>83748452

Okay, I looked HiNaBN up and I couldn't find any specific drama anons are referring to, but I just some vague notes about how at some point she stopped updating the comic.

Was there something else I'm missing, or was that it?
>>
>>83748284
The author courted fan attention and encouraged shipping, the comic was full of sexy lanky men and so the fanbase grew exponentially, she got a professional publishing deal and had a book printed - and then just suddenly got bored with the project and went dead. No explanation ever, no nothing. The publisher got a bad rep because they'd sold some "special edition" books in which she was supposed to doodle, which she refused to do. As there was zero explanation and Stone apparently forbade the publisher to talk about things either, her total, sudden, mysterious disappearance sparked a lot of rumours - she's dead, she's in the hospital, her publisher is blackmailing her to not draw any more (wat) etc. It was especially nasty for the small indie publisher who had to face a lot of nasty rumours about them and had to reimburse people for their "special edition" books they obviously weren't getting despite having already paid.

People were legit worried, sending frantic messages, begging for some sign of life or explanation, and some even sent her irl telegrams, "tessagrams", if I've understood correctly, but yeah people were trying to contact her on deviantart, through the comic site, and so forth.

However, there was never any explanation, never anything. Finally someone tracked down her sister at a con and she admitted that there's nothing wrong with Stone, no hospital, no lawsuit, she just didn't feel like dealing with the project any more and just dropped everything. Turns out HINABN was the 3rd webcomic she's similarly dropped out of the blue, never addressing or explaining the past projects in any way.

After several years of playing dead w total radio silence, she suddenly did a collaboration with the Johnny Wander folks, and is now doing a new webcomic, courting fan attention and interacting and gushing just like in the beginning with HINABN. Never any explanation. No "I'm alive but can't continue the comic, sorry", nothing. Pretty shitty.
>>
>>83748633
That's pretty fucked up
>>
>>83748633
>third comic she's dropped
Why am I not surprised?
>>
>>83748633
Jesus. I didn't even like the comic that much and this makes me mad.

You'd think that if people were legitimately thinking you might be dead, you'd at least have the decency to put a "This comic will no longer update" notice somewhere like most webcomics do when they discontinue. Even if you don't want to give a specific explanation, it's better than nothing.

The fact that she had a publishing deal and did this twice before this incident is what really makes it shitty though. She sounds like a complete flake.
>>
>>83747468
I wish I'd saved art fr Twisted Kaiju Theater's kaiju girl gallery before shin goji purged it
>>
If you want to read a good webcomic and one that is complete and finished.

http://www.venisproductions.com/angelmoxie/index.php
>>
>>83748855
Yeah exactly. I was following the comic, and I remember the waning hope and the growing worry in the fandom when there'd been no update for a week, a month, two months, four, six, a year, two... I can understand having a nervous breakdown or whatever or not being able to go on because you can't cope, but holy shit let people know.

Especially after you've spent time interacting with your fans, creating this special "ooh I love you all so much thanks dears I'm lucky to have such fans <3 <3 <3 eee" kind of intimate special community feel - people were happy that their fave webcomic was breaking through and were so thrilled for you - and you see people get actually legit worried over your health, at least fucking tell them (or authorise someone else to make a statement) that you're alive and ok, just that unfortunately the comic is on permahiatus but thanks all it was a good run or whatever. Even just a few words, some acknowledgement.

But several years, YEARS of total silence, while fans are still faithfully leaving "happy birthday I hope you're well wherever you are" messages on the deviantart, that's fucking cold. And after all that super cute gushing about how much she looooooves her fans, I'm still mad when I remember it, how a lot of the fans kept believing that there has to be some explanation, that she wouldn't just abandon them like that.

Salty as fuck, yes.
And of course also it's such a shit trick to pull on the publisher.
>>
>>83749152
I really hope she doesn't pull that shit again (for the fourth time.) She and other artists have been given so many chances and shown their flaky and suspicious behavior time and time again. How are they not black balled in the webcomic scene?

I miss the fuck out of Elf Only Inn. Went through a lot of transitions, but always managed to be entertaining.

I seem to remember he was trying to transition to being a "real" artist / illustrator and kept putting the comic on the backburner because his real job was eating up too much of his time.

I'm not sure why I love it so much. The jokes almost all amount to "These guys are animals.", the stories aren't interesting, and the whole thing is flat and unoffensive, but for some reason, this is one of my favorite webcomics. It's just so simple that I can relax and read a few strips without being bothered by the world around me.

I use to follow this webcomic. Not sure what's going on now, I think the author is sick, or tired, or something.

Also if anyone knows a webcomic about this furry creature who travels a fantasy land with an elf and a thief, it would be appreciated, since the title is lost on me.
I just remember the furry creature looks like a brown goat and gets discriminated by other races.

-Lackaidaisy
-Pandemonium (which was apparently scrub from the web)
-Hark, a vagrant
-Stolen Generation and Sequels (you are in for a ride...)

I remember being fascinated by 1/0.
There was a sprite comic called Helmeted Attack I followed as an idiot child that just vanished one day, never found out why.
Speaking of sprite comics, MS Paint Masterpieces is pretty awesome, it's like the Archie Mega Man before it existed.
And there was this cool Elder Scrolls comic called Prequel, but it hasn't updated in more than half a year. Get off /co/ and get to work, Kaz. I know you can see this.
>>
Anyone remember the Namco comic site? Shifty Look, I think? There was some brilliant stuff in there.

1/0 was surprisingly good.

There was this one webcomic which was essentially a more interesting flatland, but I have never been able to find it again.
>>
>>83759371
The only reason the website failed is because they were too stupid to have ads. For some reason they were convinced an ad-free revenue system was feasible. They had big names, some good comics, some consistent update schedules... and they put all of their money in the hopes that Hussie's joke of a visual novel would make people pay $599 for a letterman's jacket.

What was that one furry, edgy-as-fuck yet simultaneously super christian webcomic? It looked like it was colored in with crayola markers and I'm pretty sure it opened up (or this was at least one of the earliest stories) where some guy (anthropomorphic wolf) goes to shoot up a school, dies, goes to hell, and there's this really graphic hell torture scene, and then there's this moral about how anger is a sin and you can't let sin consume you?

Anybody know what I'm talking about? It was super cringy yet super interesting/thought provoking at the same time.

They just wrapped it up.

Anyone remember the name of a Web comic about a out of the way, run down space station put stop, roughly equivalent to an asteroid 7-11? One of the early jokes was about how they were going to get a restaurant and it turns out to be a hot dog warmer. Later on there's a running gag about spaceships breaking down between asteroid mile markers and the planet starts to become developed. It ran for years and I can't find it again.

From what I understand, the whole reason Double K was stopped as a webcomic was because the artist was focusing on actual demands as an industry comic artist. Never saw anything come of it (might be looking in the wrong places, he never did say what company he was working with), but I get his reasons for kinda dropping off. Seems to happen a lot when webcomic artists go professional.

Honestly, I'm just glad we got what we got.
>>
Poison wind was one I sorely miss. I discovered it way back in college and it was exactly the kinda comic I wanted to make myself. Really anime/FF7 derived but it was still super entertaining. Kinda like a better handling of a semi homage like the behemoth Gold Digger became.

I also still have Keychain of Creation bookmarked, too. It's just the Exalted version of Order of the Stick, but it had good pacing, actually Likeable characters (which is a huge rarity for Exalted in the first place) and hen after a few years of strips it went on super hiatus after the artist hurt his hand.

I miss the shit out of it. Even if it never comes back I'd love to see him return with something original.

We've gone over the argument probably a thousand times, and I understand that the artist ultimately has the final say and the right to draw what they want -

But

Hiimsdaisy's work was infinitely better when she was making fun Persona/MGS comics, and the fact that she dropped the P4 one, despite how fun it was, will never not bother me.

And maybe it'd be different if she had a better attitude about everything, but she seems to hate the fans and hate the comics that brought in said fans. She seems to expect people to totally not be bothered by her dropped project and just slurp up her okay-but-nothing-special original thing.

Minus had a great run. I was upset when it ended, sure - but at least it ended where the author wanted it to end, and had a conclusion.

If it was dropped I'd have been in despair, but it got to tell its story.

Ryan seemed to have dropped off of the face of the earth, and now his site is owned by someone else and the comics are relegated to some archive.

I'll never be able to get the Minus book, and that makes me upset.

>>
>>83777320
>then he came back and turned all apologetic for the 'offensive' content, the kind of attitude he used to lampoon

He was harassed at work and by an ex-long time girlfriend, and had near legal problems as well for people stumbling along on his work (or using them for blackmail, in the case of his ex). On top of that he paid a lot out of pocket for hosting the site. At some point he felt like he couldn't be proud of his own work/use it in a portfolio/tell people about it because they'd judge him/it very hard the few times he tried that. Having struggled with depression, things only got worse for him and he decided that the comic wasn't worth his job/relationships/money/etc.

Then he quit for a while, and then he made Depression Comix.

>>
>>83776803
I'm not sure what you're expecting from the prologue. It's events are set 90 years prior to the comic proper so no, none of the events that transpired are going to directly impact the story. It's there to set up the world and show the days leading to The End as well as introduce you to the families of the main characters. Every major character in the prologue is the direct ancestor to the people in the cat-tank now.

Dummcomics has had several that are no more for various reasons.
- Skadi (properly ended; creator needed to focus on her other work)
- 1930 Nightmare Theatre (interrupted; creator got too depressed to work, then committed suicide)
- Frog Raccoon Strawberry (quickly ended; creators got a proper job)
- Wicked Wickle (interrupted; creator got a promotion and had to work)
- Life in the Analog Age (creator turned the webcomic into a badly animated cartoon linked from YouTube, then took off)

It annoys me how invest I am in a webcomic I honestly don't remember shit about and essentially completely reread every time it updates.

speaking of Dummcomics, Ink Theater's creator was on /co/ last year

he was pretty cool, shame his comic hasn't updated since January

i should reread some old stuff more often. because of how webcomics work, it's pretty much brand fucking new every time.

I remember coming across a webcomic ages ago that started out super wholesome and Christian, but slowly descended into sin and destruction. Does anyone remember this?

This one is *technically* still updating... It's complicated.

Once upon a time, Dave R did the fantasy webcomic Legend of Bill (which is still running but made by another guy). It introduced an occasional side character, a psycho barwench named Sarah.
Dave talked a guy, Jason W, into making a spinoff webcomic about her called Barwench Tales. It was pretty ok. He did it for a couple of years but then had to quit due to some personal reasons.
A third guy, Jim C, stepped in to take over Barwench Tales. While not as good an artist as Jason, he gradually changed it from a laff-a-day strip to a notably darker sword & sorcery adventure with Sarah in a continuing story. Which eventually concluded.
Jason came back. In the meantime his art style had changed for the worse, gone stylized in a bad way and reusing lineart like a motherfucker. And we were mostly back to laff-a-day strips, sometimes leaning towards autobiographical stuff - like, when he married, Sarah married her boyfriend, Sarah cut her hair when his wife did.

It's still pretty ok, but I do miss Jim's version of Barwench Tales.

Sinfest. It used to have strips like this one every fucking day of the week.

Today it's just some feminist propaganda comic, with the main characters only making cameos at best.
