Almost everything else was shit except for some titles like Omega Men or Midnighter that don't depend on previous continuity. The most important things happened in Justice League. They're trying to have their cake and eat it, just like they did with New 52. Doing things in a half assed way.

Seems like it's clearly this to me. Just the way everything was narrated in the Rebirth special suggested he was from pre-Flashpoint (he even noted that it was weird that he was younger) and he didn't get his new 52 memories until later on.
