Kamala is the best female character to come out of Marvel in years. obviously you're not referring to Carol.
>>
>>83655074
Kind of, yeah.
Hopefully the nest few issues give some reason for her to not be objectively right.

No, apparently we're supposed to support Tony because using knowledge that a bad guy will be doing bad things somewhere is tantamount to invasion of civil liberties and playing god.

Actually, it is more like the first casualty is usually a black character that is on the moral side of the conflict, and is killed by the mismanagement of the wrong side's forces and them overstepping themselves.

Warmachine was on Tony's side, but got killed because Carol decided to try to take on Thanos herself rather than calling EVERYONE in to help.
>>
>>83655888
Actually his DOOM programming drove him to enslave all life in the solar system.
Only by overcoming it with Vision's help was he able to become a great benevolent dictator.
>>

Doom planned it that way, of course.
>>
>>83655911
Doom programmed it so that the only way they would successfully work is if the Doombot was able to overcome its own programming and thus become its own creature... that serves Doom of course.

Any creature still held down by another's program could never truly be the vessel for Doom's shining future.
>>
>>83655868

I have to wonder at what point it'll take for the rest of the heros to see that Tony could barely even be considered a hero anymore. He's more like a villain that happens to save people from time to time. I mean, even current Dr.Doom at this point is seriously more of a hero than Tony Stark.

Man, it was especially bad during the original Civil War, with Tony actually HIRING supervillains to capture other heros. That'd be like Batman using random inmates from Arkham Asylum to hunt down his own rogues all of a sudden.
>>

Re-read that sentence. And realize there is nothing wrong with that. Her family moved out of Pakistan, which, as life decisions go, ranks with buying Microsoft stock in 1985. And evil white males? I have to wonder just what Thanos' status is these days. Over in 'Ultimates' he apparently finally got over Death, in favor of Oblivion, which, I guess, would justify him wanting the Cosmic Cube again.

What is not justified is him acting like a thug, when he's supposed to be Space-Doctor Doom.

Well it's comics. If A-Bomb, Red She-Hulk, or any of the other former Hulks are desired for a comeback, I'm sure it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to Re-Hulkify them. The only things that are hard to hand-wave away are the things Bendis writes.

It's incredibly obvious that she's not actually dead. Just in a coma. He's against using Ulysses AT ALL. FOR ANYTHING. Tony is mad because Carol dared act on one of Ulysses' warnings that Thanos was going to attack Earth. According to his incredibly stupid logic, even though Thanos did in fact show up, Carol should have just ignored him and let him do as he pleases until finding out about it from another source.
He's not being reasonable, Ulysses has predicted several alien invasions and earthquakes, saving countless lives. But Tony is mad because Rhodey happened to die in one of those alien attacks, even though that's what Rhodey does all the damn time.

Thanos would have gone in and looked for the Cube unless he figured out it wasn't there. Say that he doesn't and goes inside. THEN you blow the whole damn thing up.

Why stop him from entering an emptied-out base?

Also, will they pursue the notion of Thanos being after the Cosmic Cube - and Kobik being one?

Will they hell.
>>
>>83657330
Like I said, I didn't read it yet, but so far from this thread it seems it had Thanos involved, so yeah, if Thanos is the culprit I don't care he did nothing yet, he's fucking Thanos, this has nothing to do with seeing the future and acting with that knowledge, no, this is about stopping fucking evil space god Thanos.

But in the case of, I dunno, Miles Morales was supposed to kill lots of people, I would give him the benefit of the doubt instead of putting him in Guantanamo.
>>
>>83657230
War Machine volunteered for it. Also, the team they went with had some real heavy hitters. Blue Marvel, Carol, etc.

Why does Tony get shit on so much? Why can't he simply be a competent man with slightly more problems than even he can handle?

>>
>>83657373

It's not entirely clear, but he was never openly, clearly inverted.

On the other hand, he was imprisoned by the Cabal after trying to stop them from destroying a world. Which is weird, considering this was during an Incursion. Why would he try to stop them from doing the only thing that could be done? Sure, they were douchebags, but...

So I don't know. I think he died a villain. But it doesn't matter since Franklin re-created him, just like he did before.

maybe in the future that will be the case, but right now it's a flat 'after saving the world from a big engine of destruction, you used the same source of intel that warned you of that to launch a surprise attack on a global threat (Thanos) and took him down with a small but competent team with only two fatalities, but because one of those fatalities was a friend of mine (who volunteered) I'm gonna invade sovereign territory and abduct a ward of the state because (you should have just waited for Thanos to kill everyone on the station he beamed into, and then gone in blind?)

it wasn't even a pre-emptive strike, by the time they got there he had already killed about a dozen people.

>>
>>83657428

Thank you, Bendis...

What an age we live in. Johns, Hickman, Snyder... Bendis.
>>
>>83657428
It's strange. Because it seems kinda like trying to ape the ways in which Civil War the movie improved upon Civil War the comic by adding a personal agenda or tragedy to the leaders of each team (ie Cap's desire to help Bucky or Tony's Parents). In the movies it helped strengthen their resolve and really ended up being the reason the two sides came to blows instead of talking it out like they would have in any given scenario.
But here, we see it used completely the wrong way. Instead of using a tragedy like the deaths of Rhodey and Jen to exacerbate an issue like "the morality of arresting people for future crimes" it's being used as the inciting event. So now Tony's just going all ape shit because his friend died but instead of focusing it on Carol, he's focusing it on a guy who is only tangentially related. It's like Bendis skipped ahead in the narrative and we missed how any of this makes sense. Why not have Rhodey be killed on a mission to arrest someone for something they didn't do? Like they were antagonizing a former villain who Ulysses predicted was gonna start some shit. And that sends the villain over the edge and causes him to get angry and kill Rhodey. Then you have a logical reason why Tony would be angry at the future telling kid. It wouldn't justify taking it out on Ulysses instead of Carol, but it's slightly more logical.

yeah, concept was meant to come across as 'staying on Extremis would cause these people to do without house or food' but the area is already so expensive that anyone who couldn't afford an extra 1,400 a fortnight was living above their means to begin with and should have already moved to a cheaper state

$100/day for absolute perfect health in a market practically dripping with excess income? How the Hell is Tony the villain again?
>>

>But in the case of, I dunno, Miles Morales was supposed to kill lots of people, I would give him the benefit of the doubt instead of putting him in Guantanamo.
They wouldn't necessarily do that.
In Civil War II Spider-Man tie-in, Ulysses predicted that a guy would kill 2 people. Instead of beating him up and arresting him for nothing, they followed him, then punched and detained him when he broke into his ex-girlfriend's house.
So yeah, there's nothing morally wrong with using Ulysses.
>>
>>83657801
I don't know, Tony was always teetering on the edge of dickishness, it could be a story about him just going too far, this very thread provides arguments for how what he did isn't necessarily evil. I mean, in the first Civil War he did WAY more explicitly evil stuff.

Lol funny story about Byrne.

Went to the LCS to pick up some old Shulkie/FF with She-Hulk by Byrne. This is after his little tranny rant, which I had not heard about.

I ask the woman (with a beard, mind you) if she had any Byrne and got a very stern look. Apparently they're incredibly liberal at this shop. As sad as it is I'm either guessing those old issues are trashed or burned somewhere because she told me she "got rid of all them".

Wish she got rid of all of them to me for free.

I think that's indicative of the sort of people who'd show up to a Tony Star tier pool party for a hot new "biohacking" product. >>
>>83657840
In the first Civil War he went back to making weapons for the government, which is like making a comic where Spider-Man stops being a hero so he can give show business another shot.

Civil War wasn't consistent with his character at all. Tony was a dick in the past but usually it was stuff like "fake his death for no reason" not "send other heroes to space jail".
>>
>>83657894
I'm increasingly convinced the tech bubble is inevitable because the majority of any given startup is now headed by fucks in close-cropped thin tees going out for single-origin coffee and discussing the finer points of Tim Ferris, not coding like everyone who contributes meaningful value to the product.

Fuck, even beta testing or taking surveys from split testing would contribute more than these fucks.

It showed that even with the ability to tell the future, Carol lacked the JUDGMENT to bring the right heroes/ inform all the world that Thanos would arrive.

It did not matter that she could see the future, that power went to her head and she brought the wrong group.

Playing God, means a sin of avarice and rpide.

Carol IS the bad guy here, Tony is going to do bad things b/c he is AVENGING his friend.

This is a test of Judgement for carol, which she failed. And a test of Character for Tony, which he wont fail since he is an avenger. And basically superior since he is a super genius, with a black belt in pride and it's folly and carol is a regular person. Carol is being given character growth, by her failing and losing people.

They fridged the black guy and she hulk. Two fridges, worth of death to make carol's grim growth more worthy.

Except she killed them. War machine and she-hulk are not Thanos tier and should not have been their.

Furthermore, why are you faggots all so dumb?
>>
>>83657926
This might have been the case at some point, but it was changed before publishing to make it more morally ambiguous. No confirmation on that, of course, but all early leaks of the story said Carol and friends went to confront Thanos in space.

That actually wouldn't be a bad thing either. It's THANOS he's killed countless billions around the universe and attacked the Earth like a dozen times. He's basically a wanted fugitive, if you know where he is and you have the ability to do so, you have to go stop him.
>>
>>83657946
I like that they erased Tony's mind to make him not accountable so hero's gave him a pass, turned up Pym was actually a skull to not make him accountable so hero's gave him a pass, but Reed? Nope, Reed was 100% Reed and people still gave him a pass, the funk?

Idk if I'd say She-Hulk isn't Thanos level. She's alot stronger than a lot of people that show up for fights of that calibre. Guess it depends though, can she still go savage?

>>83657965
But that would remove the urgency of it. If Thanos wasn't actively invading Earth to steal a Cosmic Cube, and were just lounging on his space chair as usual, it would be wrong to gather a bunch of chucklefucks and go after him like Carol did instead of gathering ALL THE WARRIORS and formulate a cohesive plan to take him down, unless you're just provoking Thanos to retaliate against Earth.

Sure, but if they did go confront Thanos in some corner of space then the fault is on Captain Marvel for not finding EVERYONE to go skull fuck Thanos like the did to that other threat in issue one. Or at least heavier hitters than the Inhumans, She-Hulk, and War Machine.

So again, I was less on her side because it seemed as though they just went out into space to get Thanos preemptively, rather than taking time to "Assemble." But if they only had three hours and it was an immediate threat then I'm more inclined to side with her.
