Are there firearms in the world of Zootopia? We saw characters use thinks like shooting darts and tasers, so one can assume that if the movie was rated PG or higher the animals would be using actual guns. But they could say that they never developed actual lethal firearms or that they were all banned or something.
Its a minor thing, but it cuts into some of the history of the world, did they had wars? was it against other types of species like reptiles? was it against bigger animals or preds? If so, how did smaller animals developed weapons? Did rats managed to deploy enormous war machines that could take down elephants? Would elephants even need to use weapons at all?

Almost definitely. Firearms are just an extension of the bow and arrow, which I bet the animals of their world used to use for pred vs. pred, prey vs. prey.
Even in their 'perfect' society, the animals are very mistrusting over each other deep down, so (like ourselves) they probably did. You wouldn't need an enormous war machine to take down an elephant. Biological and chemical weapons would do the trick, which rats could probably manufacture.

That's some very nice headcanon, anon. The cat does seem a bit feral, and it would certainly make sense for prey to evolve slightly quicker than others. This could explain the stereotypes that prey have a predators and why Judy is very quick to jump to conclusions based on DNA later on in the film.
It must have been weird for the prey when predators finally became intelligent enough to communicate with them. Probably explains why predators didn't simply kill all the prey when they caught up, since prey probably had years of technological advancement on them (Europe vs. Africa). Maybe Zootopia was an agreement that both sides would be better off if they worked together.
