I've been reading a bunch of the early stuff from the 80's and it's so weird seeing a Frank that actually doubts himself. He's not the Dixion/Ennis Punisher that's 100% committed.
Hell in one issue he doesn't kill the guy he was after for two issues because they saved Frank's life. He just destroys the guy's cult and shoots him in the leg and leaves him with his sister
