It alright.

WHADDAYA MEAN "IT ALRIGHT"
>>
>>83622794
It alright, it not subtle or nuanced. It tasteless and lukewarm, but it alright.
It reminds me of Finding Nemo, which I like better, but same movie more or less.
>>
I think mid 70's. Critics will complain it doesnt do anything new but it will praise the visuals.
>>
>>83622858
what, you watched it?
>>
It will be considered a groundbreaking masterpiece because of the 30 seconds of human lesbian couple.

No, but it asked what we think reception would be

Well, obviously, what kind of movie doesn't have thespians?

Holy shit, this isn't on my radar at all.

Considering this is barely on anyone but 90's kid radar (and those pirate the movie) it's going to almost bomb
>>
>>83622693
I hope against hope, I wish against fish, that it will be good.

It'll be a pretty film with some new technical achievements and probably not terrible, but not great either.

Can't believe this was released 30 years ago.
>>
>>83625070
I can't believe I only just got with the program and had a brain enhancement chip forcibly embedded into my neck. I really love all the great mindtech our corporate cyberlords have developed to enhance our enjoyment of the chemical slavocracy since they squashed the worker rebellions in 2021.

Finding Dory was an alright old movie though, pretty crazy to think of what it was like 30 years ago.
>>
So i've read some of the reaction, it was more to monsters university level rather than toy story sequel. Which means still great but play it too safe with nostalgia pandering. Yup, time to lower my expectation
>>
The animation was better than anything I've seen from Pixar to date, but there were some literal ninties jokes and the dudebro turtle doesnt talk the same

It's my birthday today, so I might go see it as a treat to myself

Where's the hype? Finding Nemo arguably put Pixar back on the map after Bug's Life and unlike Toy Story everyone fucking loved it, even adults.

The ocean is a vast unexplored setting and THE setting I'd choose for an animated movie since real actors have a way of drowning.

>Finding Nemo arguably put Pixar back on the map after Bug's Life
Pretty sure Toy Story 2 did that
>>
>>83627498
I was adult at the time and I didn't love it. I found it mostly forgettable.
>>
>>83622693

A nostalgia pandering Pixar movie? 95% on RT and a billion dollarydoos
>>
>>83627498
>>83627853

Because the movie was announced for 2015, but was pushed back for whatever reason. Now the wave of hype it could have had has already crashed, so nobody cares about it anymore.

Is it actually, though? Apart from some of the animation of the humans, the animation just looks the same as Finding Nemo and that's because it was great already.

I always liked Finding Nemo as a kid, but the plotline was pretty secondary to the various misadventures that happened one-after-another. When I think about it, I don't even think about the "father trying to find his son" theme as much as I think about "the jellyfish scene, the anglerfish scene, the scene where they clog the tank-cleaner." It's settled into my mind like a long series of clips, albeit fairly entertaining ones. Nemo was no Incredibles or Ratatouille, but it was okay enough.

Was anyone really asking for more of it, though?

>>83630917
>What happened
Disney over-involvement and the fact that their modern movies are considered "brands" more than they are movies.

There's no doubt about it. After 2010, Disney has been superior to Pixar.

Disney was asking for more of the toy sales from it. Otherwise, no, I think people were satisfied with the first movie.
