Okay. This run starts with a four part story about how Diana gets lost in space while trying to recuse a cosmonaut. Said arc involves them fighting an interstellar empire which goes out of its way to enslave women and work them to death in the mines.

When Diana gets back to Earth after having become a space pirate and convincing said empire to change its ways, she finds that Themiscyra has disappeared, the island is just gone, not there anymore. In addition, the Justice League computer is experiencing some serious issues that prevent her from receiving her monthly paycheck. SO, she crashes at the Kapatelis' place for a while while job hunting. Unfortunately, she has no credentials, and no work experience, so she ends up getting work at a local taco joint.

This actually leads into the next arc, where Diana ends up in a personal war against the Boston mob after helping her manager, Hoppy, collect child support from her deadbeat mob goon ex-husband.

There's more to it than that, other subplots and such, but that's about the gist of it. Comic books.

byrne had her working at taco bell

>liking foods with 50% onions

For what purpose
>>
>>83589074
That was William Messnar-Loebs.

I mean, it says it right there on the cover.
>>
>>83588884
It's a pile of onions. Not onions on something or onion flavor, just onions. Raw onions!
>>
>>83589054
That sounds like an amazing story arc.
>>
>>83589054
that actually sounds amazing.
Why don't they make comics like this anymore?
>>
>>83589359
It is. WML's Wondy run is highly underrated.

>>83589515
>Why don't they make comics like this anymore?
They misuse of decompression and the phasing out of prominent supporting casts.
>>
>>83589515
WML botched some other runs and they stopped letting him write at DC. Which is a shame, because he wrote some of the best topical comics of the early/mid-90s.
>>
>>83589054
Imagine if they had tied this into BvS. Remember the product placement in Man of Steel? What if in that movie, there's two women--one is this strong, dignified, dark-haired business woman that Bruce interacts with, and another humble, hard-working waitress that Clark interacts with. You cast Gal Gadot as the business woman and advertise beforehand that she's going to be Wonder Woman.

People flock to the theaters, the big fight happens--the business woman gets caught in the crossfire. Audiences expect her to defend herself and reveal her secret identity, when suddenly, the waitress steps forward. She fights back, and reveals herself to be WW all along. People go batshit in their seats.
>>
>>83589739
I remember Steve Lieber saying that WML's Hawkman was so editorially-overridden that he really didn't get to work his typical style in there and it suffered accordingly.

Goddammit, DC.
>>
>>83589739
What did he botch?
>>
>>83590101
Stealing this.
What do you want to be credited as?
>>
>>83590726
I'd guess

>>83590259
So maybe not him exactly but since he was low on the totem pole he'd get the blame.
>>
>>83588457
Can someone explain why she isn't working at Whataburger?
>>
>>83590101
An actual idea instead of just making her Lara Croft.

Could have had her enjoying other mundane things like going to a Gotham Knights game across the river that Clark is attending working on his Bruce Wayne story trying to get into his box.

I mean her logo looks almost exactly the same
>>
>>83589054

Why didn't she just whore herself out? Isn't she a sex positive feminist?
>>
>>83589054
This is unironically my favorite Wonder Woman story.
>>
>>83589054
Now I want to read this. Also I've been trying to find out the run of Wondy where it has a page where she's talking down a druggie from using some weaponized gauntlets. I've really been meaning to read it.
>>
>>83589054
Shit like this makes me wonder what other crazy fun shit I'm ignorant of as a filthy New 52 new reader and why I've basically been binge read old DC.
>>
>>83589515
The cynic in me wants to say they would probably fuck it up and have the guy owing the child support some poor guy with money problems.

But then I remember they tend to only go full retard with wonder women every few years and the last one was pretty recent.

>>
>>83589054
I've never read the Messner-Loebs era of Wonder Woman but holy shit now I need to.

Shit, Wondie's actually had some pretty good runs. It's a shame everybody thinks she hasn't because people only read shit from some IGN "top ten" list and she's had no real equivalent to "important" stories like DKR, TKJ, All-Star Superman, whatever. Plebs need to learn that good comics can just be well-done stories and don't need to be "le definitive arc after which the consequences would never be the same"
>>
>>83588799
If you're eating fast food tacos, you definitely hate yourself.
