It's an attempt by Zack to further separate Isaac from the rest of the group. Kind of a cheap writing technique to reinforce Isaac's self-image as the group "outcast". Or there might be some plot relevance down the road, there's no real way to know for sure at this point. You can tell he thought it up on the fly (as opposed to planned from the beginning), though, since there's a page in chapter 3 where Isaac's age is established to be 12 just like the rest of the group's.
As far as how an American school system works, we frequently have kindergarten through 5th grade (5-10yo) as primary school, 6th grade through 8th grade (11-13yo) as middle school, and 9th grade through 12th grade (14yo+) as high school. His age will only become a problem if the comic lasts a full school year, which given that it's taken him 5 real years to cover 3 school days I don't think we have much to worry about.

Oh, /co/ LOVED THE HECK OUT OF IT back when since the comic was hosted on Smackjeeves. A lot of original fanart was abound (R34 ones too), people talked about whatever behind-the-scenes streams that came out, they even cracked hidden stuff that was in the story. Of course, Chapter 4 then happened dragging slow with too many subplots crammed in, pissing /co/mrades off in the process.

It's pretty good, and it definitely USED to be more popular on /co/. I'd say the main reasons it's fallen off in popularity are the inconsistent update schedule, the godawful pacing in the last two chapters (two things you wouldn't notice having just gotten in and binged through), and the writer being openly dismissive of 4chan. The latter doesn't matter much, but his tweets(>>83576564) about not caring about the /co/ portion of his audience certainly ruffled a few feathers around here. Also, that art style change to a cleaner (and less detailed) look has caused some criticism, as noted here >>83573985.
