They had to do it this way anon. Before the reboot he was a love interest of hers but got the talk from the bro that if he didn't ditch the Jesus and go Muhammed then it's a no go. Perhaps I'm nitpicking. Yeah the dialog is very Gilmore Girl-esque, but that's not enough to make me avoid it. One thing I like about it, is that it takes place in Jersey City, a city nearby to mine in New Jersey. I've lived in NJ my entire life, Jersey City is similar to where I grew up. It actually is a very poverty stricken urban area, so they are pushing it as far as how nice it actually looks. The use of warm colors in the artstyle, reminds me of summers I grew up and played outside with other kids. Whether or not it's intentional, it's bringing out the nostalgia in me. I think it's less that she's under-powered and more that the writer just doesn't know what to do with her, which I noticed as well. Captain Falcon has plenty to do and is perfectly useful because the writer has a good handle on him and his abilities, whereas Kamala is a bit of a wildcard in terms of who she is and what she's capable of.
