I've been thinking long and hard about what drew me to Boba back in my youth. And now I realize it was because of the stupids, most autistic of reasons.
It's not the character; it's the armor. That worn and torn look that looks like it's seen better days, yet could still take one hell of a beating. What caught me the most, though, is the helmet; in particular, the narrow eye lens. It always reminded me of a knight errant for some dumb reason, and it's always stuck with me (the Tallgeese from Gundam Wing evokes a similar sentiment)

Well they already did. The ending to ROTJ didn't matter.
Now, it was unrealistic to expect things to be happily ever after, and I could be one or two of the victories gained in ROTJ being reversed, but it feels like they just reset everything to make it as close to the OT as possible. Empire defeated? Well here's Empire 2.0. Jedi returned? Nope, Jedi Order's gone and we're back to there being just one Jedi left. New Republic formed? Nope, let's destroy them. Rebellion over? Nope, we call it the Resistance now. Even the fact that the Sith were destroyed feels like it's a technicality, since we have a new villain (who so far has just been Palpatine 2.0) who isn't a Sith, but it still feels like cheating because he behaves like one anyway. Even Han and Leia getting together and settling down went to shit.

I think this one wouldn't be so bad if they at least made more of an effort to show why Snoke and Kylo are different from the Sith. We know so little about Snoke and the Knights of Ren and what their philosophies are that it becomes too easy to compare them to the Sith.

It's a character episode.
We get a mostly solo adventure with Chopper away from the crew most of the time. We learn some of his backstory, he has some character development (while not much, episode had Chopper acting selflessly in giving up a leg he wanted for himself so another being, someone he considers a friend, can live). We also learn that somehow the Empire knows where they planned to set up a base, which has been leading to calls to a traitor somewhere in Phoenix Squadron or one of their allies, like Ketsu.
And Chopper's droid friend has stuck around since then, so it gave us an addition to the show's recurring characters. Also they have a new Imperial ship, though not sure they'll ever use it again which is a shame. They never did anything with that Gozanti or Grand Inky's TIE since season 1.

My issue with them was they took up too much time and destroyed too much. They conquer half the galaxy and there's this massive stretch of books in the middle of the arc which is just them dominating which frankly was very boring and dull. Even though the ending to it wasn't that bad, it felt worse because it had taken so long to get there, and they'd carved a path right through the galaxy, demolishing tons of cool places.

So I finally got around to finishing Bloodline. It was so cathartic to actually know how the resistance came into being and how to First Order gained a large section of space. Claudia Gray has knocked it out of the park with both Star Wars books, I'm looking forward to what else she brings. Some questions though:
In TFA the New Republic eventually ends up with a Chancellor anyway, so did the whole First Senator thing end up happening in the end? AlsoRansolm Casterfo didn't die did he? I'd say watch all of it. Better contrast, so good episodes feel better, but also because I have mild ocd. The worst it gets is mediocre and a bit 2safe4u in season 1, but I put that more on the animators and everyone else getting settled into Disney's way of things, and seeing what they can and can't do. Season 2 is a lot better, but had a few not-great episodes. It also goes from tv-Y in season one to tv-pg in season 2, so that helps a lot too.
Give it a chance, you could do a lot worse.

Got high and watched the OT yesterday. Here's some notes I wrote down while watching them.
Yoda talks about the force. The Jedi are absolute rationality with hopefullness. They are order. The Sith are chaos. They act on emotions and are disorder. This is why true balance is a few (Ideally no) Sith and tons of Jedi.
Snoke and Kylo aren't Sith. They are probably absolute rationality but with a nihilistic point of view.
If Vader didn't kill the Emperor Luke would have probably been scarred like Vader and worn a similar suit.
The inquisitors are dark side force users who use the force only to serve. They don't act on emotion or rationality, only on orders given to them.
The Sith are only about what they want. They only try to obtain more power. The Jedi are about what the galaxy needs. They don't care about power past what they need to solve conflicts. The galaxy needs the Jedi because without them you always end up with a galaxy with Sith. Snoke and the Knights of Ren will just end up becoming Sith when one of them wants more power or when a power vacuum is created. This is why the First Order needs to be stopped.
When Vader doesn't kill the Commander at the end of ESB this shows him starting to become Anakin again. He doesn't act on emotion and kill the officer, he goes to meditate.
The reason Luke couldn't be a Jedi until he dealt with Vader is because Vader is probably the last Inquisitor left so after he's defeated Luke can go around bringing peace back to the galaxy.

Not really. The Sith cause imbalance because of the existence of the Empire. It's a means for them to generate pain, suffering and death on such a scale that it creates so much of the dark side that they can draw power from.

That's only really part of it. You remember how Kanan was knighted by Yoda's vision of the Sentinel? How the prerequisities for that was that he accept that simply fighting can only do so much before you get lost in it? Luke more or less faced the exact same situation on the Death Star II. The Emperor was there to push him into fighting and killing Vader, only for Luke to refuse that call in the end, thus winning two-fold.
