The problem was they WEREN'T a legitimate threat to Cinderella in the looks department. That's why they were so shitty to her. Ontop of just being genetically predispositioned to being cruel gold digging cunts. Though I guess it would've made Prince Charming's decision to find Cinderella more meaningful since there wouldn't be the ability to reason he was just after her because she was the hottest chick at the Ball.

They were supposed to be jealous of Cinderella's looks which made them vindictive and bitter towards her. If they were hot there would be literally no reason for them to hate her.
The pink one actually get's some development about that in the two sequel movies (which were surprisingly decent) about how she learns the errors of her jealousy and finds true love not through looks but through kindness and such.
