Yeah, I totally agree. I want it to actually be psychadelic. You can call WS a political thriller, or Ant-Man a heist movie all you want but it's the kind of thing someone tells you after the movie and you're like "oh sure yeah I guess it's that." I want a superhero movie that actually does something with it's visuals. I want that Ant-Man Quantum Realm sequence with bursts of colors and shit.
I'm nervous about this film. Not that it will be bad, but that it could get things wrong. Tilda Swinton as the Ancient One and Baron Mordo as what seems to be another hero over Wong just seems off to me. That and I'm worried it won't be magic.

A doctor strange movie only needs to be a recognizable adaptation of the comics.
It can challenge preconceived notions like who the Ancient One is, or change Baron Mordo to be initially more friendly to Stephen, and these are organic stretches of the material.
Doctor Strange doesn't need to be a surrealist masterpiece in the vein of David Lynch. "Skinnin"g Doctor Strange to tell a completely different story doesn't make Dr. Strange better.
