HOLY SHIT

This was the comiquiest movie to ever comicmovied ever. And not in a good way.

Is this the definition of going to far? Are we already trespassing that line comic books crossed in the 60's with the expansion of comic book universes?

It was just too fucking much
>>
I liked it, and you're really exaggerating. This coming from a guy who was expecting dogshit.
I just wished Psylocke was a good guy, and Storm didn't have the lame-ass idol worship.
>>
>>83493617
It was underwhelming.
Just X-Men's The Dark Knight Rises, but without the memes.
>>
>>83493910
It was incredibly overstuffed.
Every scene felt so 'important' that by the end you didn't care about nothing.

It's not dogshit, it was too much
>>
>>83494320
This.
It's fucking Apocalypse, just make it a 2 parter.
>>
>>83494320
It wasn't just that they were 'important'

Half the scenes were goofy as fuck because they were trying to be super serious about everything and they just came off as being silly and dumb.

I liked it, but there were so many scenes that made my whole theater laugh that were clearly not meant to be funny.
>>
>>83494515
Exactly.

The whole intro thing was just stupid, and it took the menace out of Apocalypse really quickly.
>>
>>83493910
>Storm suddenly changed side because her idol being choked
>>
>>83494626
And then when he's getting resurrected it's because like 6 old Egyptian dudes are just saying his name at a statue in a basement.
>>
>X-men in Costumes fighting Sentinels in The Danger Room
THEY WENT TOO FAR

GIVE THE RIGHTS TO MARVEL
>>
If this had been two parts, it would have worked a lot better. The "important" scenes could be better spaced out and spend that time giving more of the other mutants and Horsemen more character scenes
>>
>>83495062
I figured they were some stupid cult who had no idea what they were doing and probably did that ritual every week. But that because the cia women left the door open the light activated it cause its solar powered or some shit and that's why it all happened. So the entire thing was just a bad coincidence and it's her fault for destroying the world
>>
>>83496145
Yay, they finally got something accurate.

8 movies later. In a one minute ending scene

Meanwhile, Deadpool gets everything accurate in one movie.
>>
It did go to far with the incidental death toll.
It's impossible to have Magneto kill a continent and then go "Oh but Mutants are just people! We should give them a chance! Even Magneto can be redeemed!"

This is what happens when stakesfags get to call the shots; they blow their load and forget that you might need to be able to tell a story after that.

maybe Disney cared they would PAY for the film rights back, instead of giving the NBA 2.6 billion dollars a year for the next 10 years to show games on ESPN.
>>
>>83496516
I can't believe people actually defend Magneto getting away with all that shit and them being on great terms at the end. Like come on, that's a failure of the movie right there
>>
>>83496516
Didn't see the movie. Did Magneto do this under Apoc's influence or was that all him?
>>
>>83496625
Apocalypse seems to tap into a mutant's secret longing/emotional weakness and manipulates them using that.
So...whatever you want to classify that as
>>
>>83496625
Kind of both.
He has his family (a new family) killed and Apocalypse gets just in time to take him to the evil side.
>>

I think we can all agree that the Wolverine scene was fucking hilarious just because it was like five minutes of Hugh Jackman growling like an animal and then bolting out a door abruptly.
>>
>>83496145

Shitposting or not, I'm sick & god damned tired of reading this shit in every X-Men, & fuck, even DC thread. Maybe Disney should just pony up & buy the IP rights back for Marvel Studios. It's not like Fiege isn't a proven producer who's built the studio with what little they had access to. Instead of crying like sickly children throwing fits about motion picture distributors relinquishing their rights to film adaptions that Marvel themselves sold willingly, how about Disney just PAYS for the rights instead? What, Disney can't afford it? You mouseketeers always kept circle jerking over Box Office Mojo. They can cover it.

Maybe next time when you see another Marvel movie that isn't MCU, you should cry to Disney instead, because Fox is sure as fuck isn't going to relinquish the rights.

Fuck Off!
>>
>>83496560
they've offered to in the past numbnuts.

But Sony and Fox both have retardedly high expectations for payouts which is why they never happen.
>>
The only thing that went too far was how many twinks Singer packed into the movie.

List of deleted scenes

>Extended version of Magneto singing to his daughter Nina in Poland.

>Extended version of Magneto's family's death in which he sings to Nina once again as he craddles her corpse.

>Jubilee giving a tour through the X-Mansion to an arriving Nightcrawler.

>Professor X teaching both Cyclops and Jean to control their powers, instructing Cyclops to open his eyes and guiding Jean in telekinetically containing his optic blasts.

>Apocalypse seducing Psylocke to his side by offering her a new family and purpose to replace the ones that Humanity has taken from her in the past.

>Jean, Cyclops, Nightcrawler and Jubilee going to the mall after watching "Return of the Jedi". Nightcrawler is awed that people don't fear them and thinks that the mall is a paradise. The kids go to the food court, where Nightcrawler gets a brain freeze from his first milk-shake; to a record store, where Cyclops and Jean pick up a new album by mutant singer Dazzler; and to the arcade, where Jubilee accidentally destroys one of the machines with her powers and has to playfully evade the security guards using gymnastics.

>An emotional farewell between Cyclops and Havok.

>Longer final battle.

>Scrapped ideas including Wolverine becoming the X-Men's drill sergeant and leading them into battle against Apocalypse; and Magneto voluntarily surrendering himself to the authorities for collaborating with Apocalypse and being locked up once again.

So, if you, Anons, would be making Apocalypse as Two-Parter, how would you do it, knowing this list?
>>
I was thinking.

In the 80s, Warsaw Pact countries were ready to attack the West, and threat of nukes was the only thing that was stopping them.

Moreover, NATO tanks were crap when compared to Warsaw Pact ones, in terms of technology.

So, given the situation, would soviets attack the west before there were enough nukes to be able to prevent that?

Or is X-Men universe turning into Red Alert one?
>>
>>83502692
Disney can afford it.
>>
>>83493617
It wasnt that bad of a movie, but it went too far with "lets adapt the comic books!". This is just a reminder that people should focus on making a better movie than to adapt faithfully a comic book.

Apocalypse was as one note and shallow as the comic book version. It literally read like a marvel comic.

Magneto with his force field and other corny shit was too much.
>>
>>83496442
And it was probably the worst shit of the movie. Accurate is not necessarily equal to good. Hell, most of x-men comic books are shit anyways. So accurate most of the times means a shallow and meaningless spectacle.

Like deadpool, like this movie, like MCU movies.

>>
>>83493617
I enjoyed it, but I thought it was definitely underwhelming, nothing much really happened, and some things that did happen, didn't really need to happen. Apocalypse just went about and got his horsemen, then there was a fight at the end and that was it. The plot was the worst thing about the movie.
>>
>>83504399
I'm glad Wolverine wasn't leading them into battle or becoming their drill sergeant. Him teaching them to fight makes sense but it doesn't feel right if Wolverine is an established member of the X-men before Cyclops hits puberty.

I would have loved the "holding back the eye blasts" scene, definitely could have strengthened the bond between those characters, though Jean never could do that before she went Dark Phoenix in the films/comics.

Pissed that Havok died before he and Scott could learn they're immune to each other's powers. They could have done some sweet combo attacks with that.
>>
>>83504399
The climax of the first half is Apocalypse removing all Nukes/Havok blowing up the school/Stryker knocking everyone out

I think that Havok should live, take part in beating Apoc, and being the drill sergeant, not Mystique.

That being said, ending first part of the movie with destruction of mansion, capturing people by Stryker, and capturing Xavier by Apocalypse would be probably the best cliffhanger - first part ending at the worst moment for the team, but gives enough time to meet the characters on both sides, which would make viewer actually CARE for them.

Maybe even cause destruction of mansion by the fight, not because of misfire that caused the jet to explode, which caused Havok to die in the dumbest way possible unless next movie will retcon it somehow.

>>83493617
I'm always astounded at how cheap these movies look.

Like, some people complain that the MCU looks cheap, but it doesn't even compare to how shitty the CGI is in the X-Men flicks. The fucking shipping crates and cranes in this movie looked like they were out of an Xbox game, and the Sentinels in DoFP looked even worse.

I mean it's really the least of their problems with this turd but I don't understand why they don't try a little harder with such a big franchise.
>>
>>83496516
I'm convinced that in the original script he didn't kill so many people, which explains that weird ending.

Think about it, all the death and destruction he caused that we saw was all CGI shot from a distance with no characters in it. They probably did it all in post after the other scenes had already been shot.

A lot of people seem to have forgotten that, for all the graphic novels that tried to push the narrative of their medium like Watchmen and The Dark Knight, there were a lot of comics that just wanted to be comic books for kids and pre-teens: big, flashy, violent, and entirely style over substance. Apocalypse was an inevitable creation, in an attempt to give the X-men an expanded villains roster and an obvious, evil, powerful threat. He is, and has always been, a one-note villain, and if anyone went into the movie with anything beyond mediocre expectations, they deserve to be disappointed. (FFS, it's called X-Men: Apocalypse, about a guy named Apocalypse, who tries to cause an apocalypse. What were you all expecting, fucking Shakespeare? This movie was doomed to be schlock from the outset.)

P.S. Consider that because the movie decided to give us that brief- if not particularly plot-fluid- detour for Striker and Wolverine in the Weapon X project we don't have to sit through another Wolverine movie of any kind. Consider that incredible mercy, and be glad.
>>
>>83512105
Most likely.
What I find more baffling, is that they opted for making Horsemen even more underdeveloped.

Like, couldn't they leave the scene with Apocalypse seducing Psylocke on his side?

That being said, I am glad that the scenes in Poland were cut. The acting of "Militia" and "workers" was godawful. The accents made the supposedly emotional scenes into absolute Narm. Even more than Stan Lee during nukes.

Confirmed
>Cyclops
>Nightcrawler
>Angel
Posible/Still has some twinkness
>Quicksilver
>Beast
>Havoc
>>
>>83503869
My favorite moment was him calling Angel a weakling after he died. Like yeah, you literally picked the first two mutants you saw and then used an info broker to track down a mutant who got away after getting his ass kicked in some shady underground cockfight. What the fuck did you expect?

I felt like he was probably kicking himself for being so hasty in choosing his horsemen as soon as he saw every other mutant that came to fight him.
>>
>>83514413
>Quicksilver
OK, I don't know how I managed to forget about him.
>Beast
Dunno about him, really.
>Havok
Even in First Class he was way too well built to be considered a twink.

I would say that Charles have more twinkiness than Havok or Beast. Though Beast is more affected by his personality and fur appearance.
>>
>>83514633
I would say that Angel wasn't that bad, but he should have stayed guarding the transference, instead of letting Nightcrawler go deeper.

And he would stay useful if he wouldn't try to kill them IN the plane, like an idiot. Or throw his feathers at them. Like, you have Psylocke who can cut car in half, why bother getting in, when you can make them crash without doing that?
>>
>>83514633
the first horsemen were so much better
i wanted more of them
dat Pestilence, dat Death
funny enough, she was also Storms stunt double
>>
>>83514859
Speaking of the transference, why was he so eager to get that done? Did he forget what happened the last time he did a transference? I know he wanted Xavier's power, but was it really important to get it ASAP? He seemed fairly patient for everything else and it wasn't like Charles was going anywhere. The least he could have done was wait until Magneto was available to guard him.

Logan turned into Old Man Logan, so Apocalypse may start getting older after a while too.
>Especially since one of his horsemen
Death, to be specific. Which I realized less through who played her, but by the fact that she and Angel had identical facial tattoo.
>comments on how he can now live forever or something.
No regeneration is perfect, I guess. Though it would definitely help him with going body surfing only when he would find perfect host.

And he lacks energy absorption that would keep him young for even more time. I dread to imagine situation in which Apocalypse would take over body of Shaw.

Berry Storm was crap, as she never bothered to keep the accent. New Storm is basically perfect, AND she has a mohawk.

The only one I am not sold to is Beast, but it's more the case of superior makeup of Last Stand. Although new one has a proper nose since DoFP, instead of furry appearance from FC.

Professor McAvoy and Fassneto are perfect, IMO. McAvoy fits the more aggressive Professor X, that accepted that X-Men must know how to fight. Fassbender looks surprisingly similar to younger Ian McKellen, and he definitely does a good Magneto.
>>
>>83515900

>Mystique saved Nixon from being killed by Magneto in DoFP

The only ones i feel still give a damn about these films are James and Hugh.

Lawrence hasn't given a shit about any movie since the she got her first huge payday.

The biggest problem is that they wasted First Class and DOFP to introduce a new and lasting cast. Introducing Cyclops, Jean, Nightcrawler, Psylocke, Storm, etc in this film just felt like too much. I felt like we barely got to know these new characters, but hey, I guess we needed 20 minutes of Wolverine breaking out of Weapon X AGAIN.
