Ironically, it's not the secret itself that made Thor unworthy, but his reaction to the new insight.
He has himself always known what the secret was, and so could have figured out with ease what failing of his needed to be corrected to lift the hammer again but had only proven himself as having earned worthiness in that SecretWars event through plain old self-sacrificing life-loving Viking god heroics.
Whatever the secret information is, it's something that can only be accepted as a reality by someone with the inherent nobility that defines "worthy".
In other words: most of /co/ is just going to bitch with a sad display of petty willful ignorance when they find out what was said.

It's irrelevant what the secret was, it's not even what ultimately cost Thor his worthiness and yet we all know when the big reveal finally comes everyone's going to attach a false significance to it because they think that it's the secret itself that is so profound that to hear it is to accept a female Thor and hate the man Thor and magically change opinions about the capital gains tax, it's none of that, all it is is a revelation that Fury knew would reveal Thor's private pettiness, that's it, that's all.
And at the same time if you or I don't measure up to that level of heroic worthiness we ourselves just aren't going to understand or accept Mijolnir's conditions as valid. And it will be our own private pettiness that will make the comic unreadable for us.
So that secret now becomes a values test for the readership. The writers have (hopefully by now) conceived of a revelation that will be the high-bar that only a Thor worthy-level person would accept.
I don't really need to know if I'm a better or worse person than Thor, do you?
And I'm really not looking forward to lurking /co/ when this shitstorm of unworthiness hits.

He's killed countless people over the eons, he's encountered evil versions of himself before - both in timetravel and alternate reality, he knows mortals die.
Mercykilling or accidentally killing his dying ex isn't something that would shatter his value system and make Mjolnir doubt his god qualifications.
Remember that the hammer still thought he was worthy when he went Viking-berserker-rage insane.
